 Bad TV, poor support. Strengths: Great picture quality...at first. Nice appearance.
Weaknesses: Had to have repair man out twice within the first year to fix a problem w/ the TV turning itself off. Within the first year, TV started to get a red glow that has persistently gotten worse.
Summary: 2005-08-23 02:24:07 Repair man tells me that my $3000 TV that I bought 1 year and 10 months ago now requires a new "light engine" which will cost $1500-$2000. Oh, and by the way, the alledged 1 year warranty does not cover the entire TV, as I was told when I purchased it. The $400 lamp is only warrantied for 90 days. Hitachi has made no attempt to help correct the problems I have had with my TV. I would never again buy or recommend a Hitachi product,

very dissapointed
Strengths: good picture, while it lasts
Weaknesses: red glow across the screen, doesnt turn on all of the time.
Summary: had this tv for about two years and was fine until i noticed a strange red glow. now i see i wasnt the only one. also from time to time it doesnt turn on. i hear a buzzing noise coming from the back and all of the lights flash but thats about it. WOULD NEVER BUY A HITACHI PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!

Great at First, then a Red Glow Appears....Beware

Summary: I've had this TV for over 2 years and within the last few months I've noticed that when something black appears on the screen there's red glow. It looks terrible and the cost to repair isn't worth it.
I loved the TV at first now I regret now going with a DLP.

Strengths: Aesthetically this tv is one of the best in the market. The picture is clear, and the built-in speakers are great! Buy the stand as well, it sets the tv at the perfect height for a perfect viewing.
Weaknesses: Sometimes I have a problem with turning on the tv right after I turn it off. I think it's a lamp problem. It doesn't do it all the time so I haven't called in to service it.
Summary: I purchased this TV about 1.5 years ago and have never regretted the purchase. Hitachi makes great tvs, and this one proves the rule. When I first purchased it, my fiancee didn't think we needed to get such a large tv...now she uses it more than I do!
I still like the Samsung DLP picture quality and colors better, but if you're price sensitive this TV will give you the best bang for your buck. I highly recommend this as the best LCD projection TV on the market.

Strengths: Great picture quality, frame design
Weaknesses: Gray bars need to be changed to black every time the tv is turned on. Heavy for an lcd-projection tv.
Summary: In a few words, this TV is amazing. I looked for several lcd projection tvs including the Sony Grand Wega and the panasonice and rca and this blew them out of the water. The only other tv I liked was the Samsung dlp but the price difference made me go for this, and I haven't regretted that decision. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a large-screen tv.

Strengths: Very good picture for the price as compared to Sony
Weaknesses: The set has a distinct fan noise that can not be masked. The factory says it is normal, but the noise is quite disturbing when listening to shows that do not have a lot of background noise.
Summary: The colors and picture are as good as plasma. Unfortunately, the fan noise becomes something that you can not live with. I would rather not have a tv than listen to this!

Strengths: Perfect Picure...Can't ask for any better for the price.It has plenty of s-vidio ports & a DVI port for an even better picture.
Weaknesses: The stand is not included,but I would highly recomend buying one.It sets the tv at a perfect hight
Summary: Get this TV.You won't be sorry.Use pricegrabber to get the best price possible.Make sure you ad the hdtv option with your cable company.Or try the over-the-air hdtv that is free.Just perchase a set top box and anntena to get a great picture..

Strengths: I bought this for 3000 USD with stand included, good buy?
Weaknesses: I hope this TV is as good as I thought.
Summary: I would like to hear if there is any problem with this TV from those Ultavision Hitachi TV owners out there.
I have kept thinking between SONY 50" LCD and this Hitachi, Samsung DLP 50" is like 4k, too much.
