Strengths: size, weight, screen sharpness, battery life, sound, DVD/CD w/out turning one computer, adaptive feature of CPU, DVD+-RW Drive
Weaknesses: a bit slow, runs hot on loaded CPU, screen size a bit small, Expensive, Fragile. Mouse pad a bit unresponsive from time to time. Tech support is terrible.
Summary: Screen:

Texts is a bit small on a 11.1 inch screen. But I can live with it. Due to its size, the screen produce ultra-sharp images. It's has higher native resolution than other bigger screen size laptop. I didn’t notice any ghosting when playing games or movie.

Battery life:

The spec rates this laptop at 4-7.5 hours but I doubt anyone can hit 7.5 hours. You have to have the sleep option off and the LCD at lowest brightness and everything off and no CPU load for 7.5 hours. Under normal operations, I get around 4.5-5.5 hours depending usage. I get around like 4.5 under when i play games or virus and spyware scan with Bluetooth and WLAN on. My friends gaming laptop can't leave it's power supply longer than like 1.5 hours even under no CPU/HD/RAM load. About 30 minutes of gaming with battery...LOL. Sony power management lets you select the components you want on.

CPU:

Processor is a bit weak. But what do you expect from Pentium M ULV 1.3Ghz. I rather have slow CPU and long battery life than powerful CPU and no battery life. If you are going to use laptops for gaming, it would really defeat the purpose of laptops. CPU have adaptive mode to save battery.. The CPU doesn't waste battery if music is all that you are going to use it for.

Graphic:

Graphic adapter is a bit weak. But it's one of Intel's newer graphics adapter. Which means that it's pretty good on gaming. I have tested it on UT2004 and Doom 3. Able to run UT2004 at full speed with everything on and graphic setting normal. Doom 3 was a bit troubling. I had to set it low quality, 640*480 Resolution and everything off. In the end I was able to get it to run smoothly except certain area with a lot of rendering or when monsters attack me.

Sound:

I was amazed at how loud and clear the speaker is. No static even at high volume.

Keyboard/Mouse:

The keyboard is perfect for my hands. I have relatively small hands. Although you'll need to get use to it. Its small compact size allows me to type pretty fast yet keeping my hands moment to a minimum. The mouse pad is a bit unresponsive from time to time, but I'm not complaining. Get a Bluetooth mouse for it.

Wireless:

Wireless networking and wireless printing was flawless. I was also able to communicate with my computer via Bluetooth. I can transfer files and do other stuff, but not make my desktop a server for my laptop via Bluetooth. 4 options for networking: WLAN, LAN, Cingular WWAN, and Bluetooth.

Overall:

Great computer. I highly recommend!!! 1GB of RAM is plenty. No need to get the 790P for the extra .5 GB of RAM and/or for a leather case for way more. I got a basic 30 bucks sleeve for it and I think that's more than sufficient. Hard to find hard case that actually fits this laptop. Of course you can always get hard case bigger than this, but that would really defeat the point of getting this laptop if you’re going to get a large hard case. I also like the AV mode which allows you to play DVD movies, CDs, and SD/Pro Duo memory all without actually turning on your laptop. Very convenient!

Other Thoughts:

Sony Tech is terrible. I called them up and they were not very helpful. Some seem not to know the proper answer. Also restoring the Tx doesn't allow you to select the program you want to install. So all the factory preinstall all gets installed. Most which, i think are junks. There is no way to by pass this unless you have a different restore CD from Sony.

Some recommended accessories:

Bluetooth mouse - to save a USB slot and easier than built in mouse pad.

2.5 inch External HD - so that your data is safe

Flash drive - easy to move data around (If don't already have one)

Sleeve - to protect it

Hard Case - if you are anticipating falling to the ground with it. (hard to find one that fits)

Wireless Router - If don't have one already

Wireless Print Server - If you are going to print a lot

Cooling Pad - If you going to work in hot area. (only for a room that doesn't have AC or ventilation.)

Strengths: Small and extremly portable. The screen is bright and WIFI signal strength is pleasantly good in 2000 SFT residential unit.
Weaknesses: Key board. It will take a while to get used to this tiny key board and the diffrent layout from other notebooks. It is too delicate to handle, I really wish sony has a impact proof casing for this.
Summary: This is my third sony FX series notebook. I have to say every and every time, I use a sony product overseas (purchased in US), it gets into some kind of trouble because of voltage fluctuations. Secondly, the last FX note book that I had, it was not able to CD from all manufacturers. Sony took the notebook and returned the money. One thing about Sony support, they take care of thier product after sale. The only question is the reliability of the product. I am really hoping that this little baby will not blow up this time. If it does, this will be last time that I buy a sony product (I am sick of transferring all my stuff from notebook to notebook).

Strengths: Size and weight. Connectivity.
Weaknesses: Standard battery does not last up to 7.5 hours as advertised. Touch pad not responsive.
Summary: 2006-07-04 17:50:24 It's not perfect, but for me is great and very useful, it is my first Sony and although it was somewhat expensive, I am very happy to have it.

Very small and light notebook, allows you to take it anywhere! It fits in my handbag and nobody knows I have it there. Very nice when you travel or visit customers.

I was expecting the standard battery to last longer, so far, the longer period I've got (with the optical drive off) was 5 hours.

The touch pad does not always respond as expected, being sometimes too slow or not responsive (too bad, especially when you are playing games)

It connects fast and easily to any access point with a wide coverage area.

A cooling pad might be needed, as you feel the heat at the left side of the computer, and the fan is continuously working, it makes you feel like you should get a cooling pad.

Strengths: light wight, great lcd display, built-in blue tooth
Weaknesses: a bit too expensive
Summary: This light wight laptop is great for traveling or if you have to carry it around daily. The lcd wide screen display is beautiful and very bright. It is clearly visible even under some sunshine. The keyboard is a bit cramped. Overall it is a great laptop.

Strengths: Size is great, once included junk software is removed its great!
Weaknesses: Needs a cooling pad, touchpad not very responsive, hard drive capacity not as stated.
Summary: I thought my new VAIO had an 80 gig hard drive but when I checked the capacity it was only 68.5! After calling tech support I found out that 11.5 gigs were allocated for system restore. This was unacceptable for me, after talking to customer support, tech support, and finally a manager who was able to provide a resolution by sending DVD's that I will use to reformat and remove some of the files taking up space! Hopefully it will work!
