Strengths: Size, Picture Quality. Comes with a car adapter. Good battery life.
Weaknesses: Very weak speakers. Weak output to headphones.
Summary: For the money, this is a great player. Very inexpensive. Only downfall, is the speakers are very weak. When traveling in a car at highway speeds, you can barely hear the sound.

On a plane, the sound is barely audible when using headphones.

Overall, great deal...but poor sound output.

Strengths: Great value for the price, plays a large variety of formats
Weaknesses: Speakers are a little weak, must be at certain viewing angle for best picture.
Summary: The Toshiba SD-P1850 portable DVD player is a great option for anyone looking for a way to watch movies on the go, and also includes a number of additional features, making it an excellent value. The SD-P1850 plays MP3s, and DivX movies, in addition to DVDs and CDs, and supports several types of flash media with a 4-in-1 card reader. The picture quality is very good, and the sound is good, best with headphones but the built-in speakers are also acceptable. I chose this player over other similar ones due to its versatility, and so far it has done very well! Recommended.

Strengths: picture
Weaknesses: non
Summary: I like this player. It supports many disc formats and plays divx-encoded .avi's (a big factor for me). The biggest problem is that it plays all divx movies full screen, no matter what the encoded aspect ratio is. So if your movies are 16:9 then you are in for a good experience. Otherwise you';ll see everyone either skinny or fat. I see no hint of an updatable firmware, so this may never change. The battery is not integral with the unit, it snaps on the back when needed (to make it easier, I presume, to operate from an external power source). In the package I got from Costco, I got a carry case, car power adapter, as well as the 120v adapter, and two headphones (cheap), for $180 out the door.

Strengths: name brand, long battery, car charger, plays Divx
Weaknesses: too noisy when starting up \price higher than thoes generic brand players
Summary: Picked up this player from about 10 or so portable dvd players. Even over the $95 9"er, thought this is a Toshiba.

It played several of DVDs that I compiled, I took the discs

to the store to play, before I choose which to buy.

Popping in the disc into the player once got home, it is

NOISY when the disc started running, however, when during

the playing, the noise is bearable.

Only used the built-in speakers, it's useable at home, I

will definitely use earphone/headphone if traveling in

car.

In all, a nice name brand dvd player

Strengths: plays almost all formats, including DIVX and VCDs. has a detachable battery.
Weaknesses: - no option to display Chapter/title info when a DVD is playing. - power cord too short, 5 feet - doesn't show status of remaining charge in battery. - noisy when initially statrts playing a DVD.
Summary: - speakers are good (others reviewers said opposite).

- best part is its detachable battery. if you can get a long power cord, then remove battery and you can watch DVD in bed. its very lightweight.

- Almost all portable DVD players including this one don't have a numeric keyppad, so if your DVD/VCD menu has a page where you have to press a number to go further, you are stuck at that point.

overall good player, including pic quality.
