Strengths: Takes up small amounts of system resources, does not slow down system and keeps a low profile.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I started having huge slow downs on two home computers. A system service running on XP (see scvhost.exe in the Task Manager window) was taking 99% of all of the CPU time a while after boot up and I couldn't do anything other than kill the process which caused side affects. I did have Norton anti-virus but it was out of date since I didn't renew it because when I got it I could use it on both of my home PCs but the renewal only allowed me to use it on one PC. So, I couldn't decide what to do for a couple of weeks then I got Kaspersky. It immediately found my problem and quarantined an accelerator application I got from my ISP (that had been running great for two years). No more slow down and the CPU was back to frequent idle. So, Kaspersky worked great. Why four stars? Well, I haven't tried or know about all anti-virus programs, maybe there is still something better.

Strengths: Doesn't slow down the machine!
Weaknesses: User interface.
Summary: I have been using this for a month and I am happy with it. It doesn't slow down the machine when it works. My only concern is the user interface. I feel it is not as friendly as Symantec products. Maybe it is because I am used to Symantec products. Overall I would recommend this product.

Strengths: Impressed with the way it clears out viruses, spyware, and Trojans
Weaknesses: Tech support for the program seems to be non-existant.
Summary: I tested numerous anti-virus programs after getting fed-up with previous Norton Anti-virus, which would always "hang" my incoming email, causing me to redownload larger files and sometimes make it impossible to retrieve them at all. (Incidentally, this had nothing to do with the "time-out" settings.) After testing other top rated anti-virus programs, the only one that wouldn't "hang" large email files, was Kaspersky. Even though I have my "time-out" set to only 1 minute, Kaspersky never stumbles and lets go, even if it takes much more than 1 minute to download. I also like the easy to use "pause protection" when I'm doing file clean-ups, because there's no sense passing temporary files through a second time, and it speeds the clean-up 5 times faster.

Mixed review
Strengths: Doesn't seem to slow down computer like most others
Weaknesses: Won't allow some direct links
Summary: I like this better than the others that I have tried.
Most of the others really bog down your computer(not this program though).
I have to disable the protection to click on and be redirected to other site via a link(this is annoying).
I would like a protection software that let thing work as normal and run in back round with out disrupting anything.
I also get a start up message saying I need to contact their team and no link to them but a phone number.
This is a little irritating also.

Strengths: Solid protection. Doesn't slow down computer as much as others
Weaknesses: Cost.
Summary: Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 was easy to install and get started. This program checks everything, what programs are loading, what programs to allow internet access, removes advertisement/popups/etc, filters/marks spam. The a/v is fast and doesn't bog down my computer much if at all. The training mode for firewall and the program checker is a little annoying at first it asks for permission for everything, but after you train it, it should block just about everything. Overall its a great internet security program, and doesn't bog down your system as much compared to others.

Weaknesses: Consume a lot of resourses.
Summary: As it was ranked the No. 1 anti-virus software. Kaspersky Internet Security is a very good software to protect your machine. However, I found that it comsumed more resourses than others.

Strengths: Best antivirus I've ever owned yet. Great improvement over NAV - including customer service
Weaknesses: Take longer to initially scan my machine
Summary: I ran evaluation copies of Kaspersky's AntiVirus program on two computers and, while one ran without a problem, I experienced some technical issues with the other. Kaspersky's tech staff responded politely and efficiently, helping to quickly resolve the issues, providing more assistance in two rather brief telephone calls than I received from Norton (Symantec) in six years. And, (to me) MOST importantly: the Kaspersky tech staff is in the U.S. and intelligibly speaks / understands English! I've now purchased two full licenses and both programs are working exceedingly well, without hogging resources as NAV did.

Strengths: free upgrade to version 7, runs faster !
Weaknesses: none
Summary: Very simple to install. Easy of use. No problems while being used.
After I installed the Internet Security 6.0, I
found my computer also runs much faster now than it did with Norton.
aspersky Anti-Virus is very light on the memory usage; loads, updates and scans easily and quickly.
Great software, no problems at all with my computer freezing or crashing.

Strengths: Works on several operaing systems including *nix OS, documentation better than expected, good features.
Weaknesses: some files and apps to take 30-120 seconds to open
Summary: So far, it seems to work okay---at least I have not had any known viruses or malware on my laptop while using the software. It is customizable enough for me. It came with a fair sized manual in today's standards. One issue with it is that after installation, if the software can not contact a server to activate it or whatever it needs to do, you will not have complete functionality. In my case, I made a long distance non-toll free call to support to see why I couldn't activate the product. I was told basically that their server(s) were overloaded. If I buy a product, I expect it to be fully functional right out of the box. What really spurred me on to try Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 was a longstanding problem with Norton Anti-Virus 2006. For some reason, it keeps loosing my subscription info on one computer and therefore it thinks I need to keep renewing my subscription before it expires. Following Symantec's Support people's suggestions has not helped---including uninstalling it and reinstalling it, etc.

Strengths: It was easy to install and works wonderfully. Detected viruses that Norton and McAfee didn't detect.
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I got Kaspersky after i had Norton for two years, and i would like to say that it is such a relief. Finally no malicious software is controlling my machine. Well, first, Kaspersky is faster and more comfortable in use. Second, as i said, it doesn't intervene in any of computers processes. Third, it has hourly database updates. And four, it provides a better protection than norton, i had norton for two years and the first day that i got my kaspersky after norton, it located 11 Trojans and a virus, which Norton has never located and showed that system is fine. Well, make your own conclusion. Also my girl friend got norton for laptop and it didn't allow her to connect to internet network so she had to uninstall it. Its just a waste of money. Buy Kaspersky it will make you feel safe.

It works so well, it will lock your computer and make it take 20 minutes to partially boot if at all.
Strengths: Easy to install and it is a feature rich product.
Weaknesses: Made my computer unusable, I had to uninstall the software
Summary: I initially purchased this software because I had recently installed Vista. Well, after installed it on Vista I kept getting "allow" questions for programs, even after I gave permission several times in the past. Even after allowing programs to run the programs were being "handicapped". For example Microsoft Money could not access the internet to download my stock statements or update my banking information, which then caused my stored file to be come corrupted and I had to reinstall the program. I wasn't happy with this product in Vista and there were so many problems after installing and removing the program I did a clean install of XP. I tried the program again and now I couldn't get my computer to fully boot and I would have to power chop it and I was forced to boot in safe mode to remove the program. If you want security this program will lock your computer down so tight, even you can't use it.

Strengths: none
Weaknesses: none so far!
Summary: Keeps you safe online as you surf and email, swap files, download programs, and chat. Preinstall Scan detects and cleans spyware, viruses and worms on an already infected system. The enhanced pre-install scan now detects and removes high-risk spyware before installation.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS INTERNET SECURITY PROGRAM!
Strengths: Scans continuously, which is good.
Weaknesses: Hogs too many resources! I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2007 for this and it was a BIG MISTAKE
Summary: Scans continuously which is good, but ti also drains too many resources! It killed my Windows Vista to the point that I had to reinstall Norton Internet Security 2007. If you are looking for a great program, stick with Norton! I also had a ton of problems installing it and my system crashed a number of times.

Better than Norton
Strengths: Not as invasive into your system as Norton. immediate updates directly from the Lab every hour.
Weaknesses: Its price before rebates is way too high. And its rebate processor has a bad reputation.
Summary: It seems not as invasive into your system as Norton. It has the unique immediate updates directly from the Lab every hour.
Its price before rebates is way too high, even much higher than Norton IS. And, unlike Norton, its rebate processor has a bad reputation of losing people's submission from time to time. The rebates makes the product a questionable deal.
