1 Star ReviewI like the interface, and setup was straightforwar ...
Strengths: Easy to use. Bought to sync with Outlook.
Weaknesses: Does not work with Outlook 2007, and no update is available as of mid-April 2007
Summary: I like the interface, and setup was straightforward. I did have some trouble detecting the phone, but after awhile it started to work.

But- I bought it to use with Outlook 2007, and it does not work. Motorola does not offer much past the basic support online. I have not called them yet. BVRP, the actual manufacturer, has a support forum that does not give a date for a new release.

3 Star ReviewIt comes with two cables, one of which is useless ...
Strengths: very compatible with my os, easy to use and set up.
Weaknesses: It has very limited functionality for what was advertised, and is not really worth the money unless you have a contact list of 500 people set up in outlook already.
Summary: It comes with two cables, one of which is useless if you have a V3 motorola. The other is the exact same cable my palm pilot uses to charge, so I basically bought two that I didnt need. My advice it to check that first if you have a palm with compatible cable. Finally, the program is interesting and functionable, but I have seen far better shareware that's free.

Strengths: Easy installation and setup. Makes it a snap to import/export address and calendar data and to back up phone data.
Weaknesses: None, unless you are a Verizon customer. Verizon has disabled all their phones' multimedia file transfer capabilities.
Summary: This is a fine product. However, I was disappointed to find out that I was unable to utilize a major portion of this software's capability, the "Multimedia Studio". You see, Verizon (which is my mobile service company) has disabled multimedia file transfer for all their mobile phones. You cannot transfer pictures, videos or sounds to/from your computer with this software. This is an attempt by Verizon to force you to use (pay for) their mobile services to do so. Verizon could correct this in an instant by changing the driver software for their phones that they modified to block file transfer.

Strengths: Ring tone creator allows you to rip and sample from your cds or mp3s. Back up and edit of your phonebook is a snap.
Weaknesses: Folder access and some copy and edit features do not have the familiar Windows feel. Did not easily recognize my V557.
Summary: I am very pleased with this software. All functions work as advertised with my V557. It was quite a hassle though, to get the driver installed properly so that it would recognize my phone. I had to delete it and reinstall it a few times and had to have the phone hooked up while rebooting in order to have Windows start the found new hardware wizard and complete the installation. I'm not sure what really made it start working as I had to try a few different things. You'd think the fact that my phone was a supported Motorola product would just be enough, but apparently the software is a little buggy. In my experience, most software is. I am happy with this product though, after overcoming the driver hurdle.

Strengths: Very good interface. Proven software.
Weaknesses: Did not automatically recognize my RAZR V3m
Summary: I have a U.S. Cellular V3m and had to contact Motorola's tech support (seller was no help) to get the PC to recognize my phone correctly. The support tech was great. His knowledge and patience got me connected within 15 minutes.

3 Star ReviewGood tool for basic phone name/number backups, but needs work
Strengths: Connected to my RAZRv3 fine, easy name/number entry, good way to backup name/number essentials
Weaknesses: Does not support (in fact, loses) additional (extended) stored phone data, such as recorded voice dialing names, and does not support non-Motorola phones.
Summary: Connected to my Motorola RAZRv3 fine, and allowed for much easier manual input of names and phone numbers that I had saved to spreadsheet. Since it does not seem to support non-Motorola phones, I could not use it to export my names/numbers directly from my old phone to my new RAZR. After entering the basics and uploading them to my phone, I later added extended information to my phone address list, such as recording voice dialing names, assigning categories and types and speeddial #'s. I then downloaded the info to the software, made a few name/number additions, and then re-uploaded it to the phone. I lost all my extended information for all entries, leaving only the basic names and phone numbers. Tool is OK for the very basics, but needs alot of work to add support for (or at least not delete) extended phone address book data.

Strengths: Able to connect phone & computer with ease.
Weaknesses: Sparse features such as ring tones & photos that come with this product.
Summary: Motorola Phone Tools 4 is in the same price range of other cell phone data/PC connectivity software such as Data Suite. However, from what I have learned, Data Suite may offer more versatility than Motorola Phone Tools 4, along with more ring tones, photos, etc.

2 Star ReviewMotorola Phone Tools 4 for RAZR V3 phone
Strengths: Good menus.
Weaknesses: Won't work with phones on the Verizon network.
Summary: Tools 4 is certainly a nice product, but it does not work with Verizon phones. I was able to get it to save my contacts (phone numbers) but I really bought it to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer.

When I contacted Motorola to complain that my V3m RAZR phone was not listed or recognized by Tools 4, they informed me that Verizon phones are different (software issue) and won't work with Tools. In other words, it may be a Motorola product, but we won't support it because it is Verizon unique.

This disclaimer should be listed on the Motorola site: "Not all features are available for Motorola phones used on the Verizon Network. Specifically, transfer of photos and music from the phone to the computer is prohibited."

I am dissappointed with Motorola, a brand name that I have stuck with for many years.

Strengths: Very handy for sharing or transferring phone numbers and/or image files with a PC or another phone.
Weaknesses: Locks up PC (totally) if phone is disconnected before program is exited.
Summary: Well worth the price, if only for the file transfer capability. A little awkward at first, but once I got the hang of it, I couldn't live without it!

Strengths: It works
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Really not much to say about this software. I bought it simply to sync Outlook contacts from a PC to my wife's Motorola KRZR. We have had absolutely no problems with installation, setup, and use.

We have not tried any of the more advanced features, Bluetooth sync, ringtones, PC texting, editing pictures and videos, etc.

The software is fine and does what it's supposed to do.

3 Star ReviewMotorola Phone Tools - It works, most of the time
Strengths: Works with Microsoft Outlook; Installs easily
Weaknesses: Not very intuitive; Syncing somewhat flaky Can't run software without your phone plugged into the USB cable
Summary: It synchronizes with my Motorola L6 phone pretty well. Actually, it's the ONLY way I could find to get Outlook Contacts and Calendar to sync with the phone.

The user interface is not very intuitive, and the synchronizing take a long time to figure out the first time you run the program. The syncing is also a little bit flaky, and you have to be very careful that it's not deleting things on your hard drive that you don't want it to delete.

1 Star ReviewUnusable
Strengths: None.
Weaknesses: Buggy.
Summary: I don't know if it's my computer or the software, but the program crashes when performing certain functions. Also, the synchronization feature is buggy. Overall, the software is unusable. Perhaps I need a carrier-specific version.
