The TV tuner in the first P572V that I bought was ...
Strengths: A combination computer monitor/TV is very useful in many settings.
Weaknesses: Extremely poor quality control backed by even worse customer support.
Summary: The TV tuner in the first P572V that I bought was completely inoperative. The DVI and S-video inputs gave good results. When I attempted to exchange the defective unit at my local BestBuy store I was told that most of the Mag Innovision M572TVS's and Proview P572V's that they had sold had been returned as defective, and all they had in stock was one unit that had been previously returned. I exchanged my bad P572V at another BestBuy. The TV tuner in the second P572V worked a little; noisy reception of two cable channels and one broadcast channel. The DVI input was fair, and the S-video input was very noisy.
I made several phone calls to Proview's tech support and customer service departments. Without going into the deatails I can summarize the experience as the worst that I've had in over twenty years of personal computing.
There are several other monitor/TV combinations available from sources such as Planar, Sceptre, Samsung, etc. at a slightly higher price than the Proview unit.
