DA-5800RX dsp Karaoke Mixer
Strengths: Good feature, small size
Weaknesses: LCD display is hard to read at a distance, quality control concern
Summary: There are many karaoke mixers on the market. But there is no review for any of them in the Internet. I had to take risk when I ordered this mixer basing solely on the info I gathered on the Internet:
1. it has complete specification and user manual that I can download and read.
2. it is made by a company that has a US base. Hopefully, I can get helps or have repair warranty if my mixer fails in one year.
3. it has many good features (equal or better) than several other mixers in the same price range. for example it has full band vocal equalizer, many special effects, controls of volumes of vocal, music, and special effect separately as well as the whole.
When the unit arrived I noticed that the power switch is rocker type. That is a bit unusual for home electronic equipment that normally have push button power switch. The unit appears to have a good quality built (But is not as refined appearance as mass market products like Sony DVD, for example). All the features work fine as spec and the voice quality is nice.
However, there are two problems that were troubling me:
1. the back lit LCD display is small and does not have good enough contrast. I cannot read the texts from more than 2 feet away. The designer should use LED display instead.
2. The remote control does not work at all. I called Vocopro technical support. After hearing my problem, the technician told me that he would send me the new remote control. I am wondering if that is a "typical" problem with that model since he seemed so sure that the remote was the problem and not the unit.
Within one week I receive the new remote control. And luckily it works fine. Otherwise, I have to send the whole unit back the the seller for replacement.
