A Practical Fridge that Stands Out from the Crowd

Weaknesses: None worth mentioning.

Summary: 2008-01-06 15:15:29 I was admittedly reluctant to consider any GE appliance because of some of the negative reviews I have read. However, while conducting my research, I only found positive reviews about this refrigerator. Soon after delivery, I was struck by its sleek appearance with its smooth stainless steel exterior. The interior appears more spacious due to the use of glass shelving and clear bins. Although it is Energy Star rated, I was even more impressed with its ability to maintain sufficient coolness at the setting of 2 (out of 9). The problem with a well made product is that any minor flaw will stand out. An example of such a flaw with this refrigerator is the right door handle being slightly loose enough to be annoying but easy enough to fix with a small headed Torx driver. The water dispenser works fine but there is a noticeable "plastic" aftertaste in the water. I assume this will go away as the system gets flushed through usage.

The notion of getting what you pay for is no longer true with appliances - if it ever was. This refrigerator exemplifies practicality without having to sacrifice quality.

Good buy for the price

Strengths: Attractive, very quiet.

Weaknesses: Not much room in the vegetable and fresh meat drawers. Dairy section small also.

Summary: I had a top freezer refrigerator for over 20 years. I couldn't decide if I wanted a side by side. What sold me was the indoor water and ice dispenser. I am a heavy ice water drinker. I was always opening my freezer to get ice. I did not see the refrigerator prior to purchase. I selected it after searching internet sites. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be stainless all the way around. Only the front door is stainless. The remaining sides are black. It looks very good and will be easier to keep clean. There is a lot more storage room in the freezer than I had with my top freezer not to mention I don't have to move everything around to get to something. The refrigerator has shelves that slide forward giving you easy access to items in the back. It also has spill proof shelves. The side door shelves are adjustable in height allowing customized spacing. I was disappointed in the vegetable and meat drawers. They are not very large. Also the dairy section is small if you keep a lot of butter and cheeses. I purchased this refrigerator mainly for the FrostGuard, NeverClean condensor and the fact there are no coils on the back. I am very impressed with this refrigerator and would highly recommend it.

Great Stainless Side by Side

Strengths: Appearance, Price, Very Quiet, Customer Service

Weaknesses: None so far.

Summary: We purchased this side by side as a replacement for our older fridge. So far we have no complaints, it looks nice, runs very quiet and still has just about the same amount of room that our over/under model had.

When delivered the door was not assembled properly and I noticed that the gasket was not sealing at the bottom, I called customer service and they had someone out to fix it in 2 days. No charge.

If your looking for a smaller side by side and stainless I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this one.
