Strengths: Excellent color and contrast. Easy monitor pivot & height positioning. Quick switching between D-SUB & DVI-A/D inputs. Great value for a 21.3" monitor.
Weaknesses: The 4 ports of the built-in USB hub are difficult to access.
Summary: I have owned a pair of ViewSonic LCD monitors (18" VX800 & 19" VX900) for the last 4 years, and have been extremely happy with them. I have upgraded the smaller 18" monitor to this 21.3" VP2130b monitor. I wanted the 4:3 format provided by this monitor instead of the widescreen format that so many of today's monitors support. I would never have had enough desk space for a 21" CRT monitor, but this 21" LCD monitor fits on my desk with no problems. The image is very sharp with great contrast and color. And no dead pixels. The pushbutton switching between the input on the older VGA style D-SUB connector and input on the newer DVI connector allows me to use this monitor with 2 systems. Also, the included detachable stand allows easy pivoting & height adjustment. The monitor ships with both a DVI & VGA cable along with a USB cable to connect your computer to the 4 port USB hub built into the monitor. However, these USB ports are on the back of the monitor at a location that makes them hard to access on a daily basis. They are best used for USB devices that you keep connected or that you infrequently connect/disconnect. But I did not buy this monitor for its USB hub, but instead for its 1600 x 1200 resolution, 300-nit brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio display which I am very pleased with.

Strengths: Screen Size, 1600x1200 Resolution, 1000:1 Contrast Ratio, Screen pivots for portrait view. PerfectSuite software to configure settings.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I purchased the VP2130b to replace my 3 year-old ViewSonic 19" VX900 that I had been using for my graphic artwork at home. My previous experience with ViewSonic products has been very positive, my 19" is still serviceable and will be moved for use with my office system.

The large 21.3" screen allows me to work in the 1600x1200 resolution without eyestrain. The PerfectSuite software is easy to use and gave me the ability to tweek my monitor's parameters to suit my personal preference.

The pivot feature is smooth and webpages viewed in portrait mode look fantastic with no distortion.

Though this monitor had all the features I was looking for I did check out some competitors 21" models. But I stayed with Viewsonic based upon their reputation and my own past experience with their products. You may pay a little more for this monitor so spend some time to shop around for a good price. Despite the price tag, for my needs this monitor really delivers!

Strengths: Sharp, great color and contrast, basically no adjustments needed at all. Just plug and play. I like the adjustable stand and the monitor's portrait orientation feature. Price was reasonable.
Weaknesses: NONE
Summary: The monitor works well with CAD applications, as well as photo editing. The large display allows me to work at 1600 x 1200 and while its text clarity is not as good as my 8 year old Viewsonic 19" CRT, which finally gave up the ghost, the sharp graphics, great color and contrast more than make up for it. My company buys NEC and I used to be a fan, but I'll take Viewsonic any day and look forward to upgrading my Viewsonic 19" CRT at home to the 21" LCD.
