Strengths: Works with unscrambled digital cable (QAM), High quality picture, works great hooked up to a PC too.
Weaknesses: Sound not bad, but could be better.
Summary: This TV is highly recommended. For the money, I don't think you can find anything better. The digital high definition channels look wonderful. And and since it has a QAM tuner built in, you can get the unscrambled basic digital channels without renting a box from the cable company. The standard definition shows look pretty good, but I think on any LCD they will never look as good as the high definition shows. The sound that comes out of the TV is a little weak. If you really want great sound, you probably should hook it up to an external receiver with speakers. But, the internal sound is certainly good enough especially for a bedroom or den type TV. This TV also works well when hooked up to a PC via the VGA port. The picture is wonderful and the text is very readable.

Strengths: Great low price for an HDTV, quality design cabinet/stand, simple remote layout
Weaknesses: Doesn't do full/stretch screen mode
Summary: I use this TV in a bedroom. Bought because of great low price ($479 at BestBuy - day after Thanksgiving sale) and because it fits inside cabinet where Sony 27" tube TV once sat. Very easy to set up and connect to VCR/DVD via side of unit connection jacks. I use this for Over The Air HDTV receiption, tunes in all possible stations in my area very well using old in-attic antenna. TV has locked up a few times, needed to unplug to recover, but it did recover each time. May need to exchange, don't know yet. Full/stretch mode would be nice to fill screen for the few stations not broadcasting in 1080i all the time.

Strengths: built in hd tuner; good value for the price
Weaknesses: remote is a little difficult to use
Summary: Good value for a 27 inch lcd tv; great clarity for both picture and sound; I would recommend buying this; we mounted it on the wall and really enjoy it

Strengths: Great selection of inputs, including DVI, HDMI, VGA, S-VIdeo, Component. Picture quality is great on DVI. Picture quality is also great watching High Definition content.
Weaknesses: Standard Definition is decent, but not great. Composite and S-video inputs are shared. Remote is on the weak side.
Summary: 2006-12-21 21:47:53 This is a very good TV for the amount it's worth. You should be able to get it for between $500-600 and that makes it very worthwhile for a 27 inch with both dvi and hdmi inputs. Highly recommended assuming you get a good model, westinghouse has been known for some questionable Quality Control. After further testing, I've found the picture is very good, there is very little ghosting on the screen, and the sound quality is pretty good for tiny speakers. I wish there were more options for how the picture should be received, you can only choose normal or widened. Also there tends to be some buzzing when the monitor is on.

Strengths: Built-in HDTV tuner, TV stand, & speakers.
Weaknesses: Funky remote and short warranty period.
Summary: Sharp looking set at a great price. Paid $829 including a service plan at a military PX. I would suggest anyone buying this set to get a service plan due to the one year manufacturer warranty. Bright picture with outstanding 1000:1 contrast! No dead pixels or any other flaws were noticed. This set is loaded with connection features.

Strengths: value... see comments
Weaknesses: see comments
Summary: 5-stars on value... too many features to list... great price... I realize I would probably have to spend another $1000 to get everything I wanted... I bought this for my computer desk...it takes LESS space than my old 19" CRT display, & weighs 10# less..!! Keep in mind that the screen size of a 27" widescreen display is only the same as a 22" standard display; when using fullscreen 4x3 aspect. Nice quality picture, & remote is very user-friendly. I found no bad pixels on my unit.

5-stars on customer support... I called Westinghouse with a technical question [see below] & within 90 seconds.... I was talking with a knowledgeable [American] service rep...this was on their 800-number, too..!!

Cons...........

There is only ONE choice for user profile video settings; which is the same for all inputs... I found it necessary to re-adjust brightness, etc... especially when switching to my dvd player via component input.

Only one RF input... if you receive your HD signal off-air, as I do... you will need to manually switch cable/antenna inputs when you select HD stations. An external signal combiner will solve this... but would also attenuate the signal, & make it susceptible to stray RF interference.

No "Fill" feature to enlarge picture. They do have a STRETCH feature [labeled as "Fill"]...which will stretch a 4x3 picture to 16x9 widescreen. Technically, "Fill" is used to enlarge a letterboxed FULL-screen [4x3] picture to fill the 16x9 screen... this set does NOT have that feature.

Limitations on PIP. I realized the set only had a single tuner... but I was hoping that I could watch regular TV & VGA from my computer with PIP... NOT... I actually called Westinghouse on this one... the VGA input uses the same video tuner as analog TV. I *AM* able to watch a HD channel [thru cable-in] as PIP w/my VGA selected on the main screen. I was told that a DVI input from my computer will allow me the combination with analog PIP... I haven't tried that.

Strengths: Built-in HDTV Tuner, good shape, TV Stand
Weaknesses: Nothing so far for us
Summary: I bought this model from Crutchfield.com last week. Paid for $649.00, even $50 less than the advertised price. This TV looks great. The picture quality is excellent when you receive HDTV program. I also tried to connect it to my laptop as an extended monitor. It is even more clear than my laptop display. I definitely will recommend this one.

Strengths: 27" LCD HDTV has excellent clarity, brightness and color.
Weaknesses: have had system for two days and have not noticed any weaknesses
Summary: A friend and I have both purchased the above unit. My friend liked his unit so well that he purchased another unit (32").

My friend connects to an outside TV antenna, whitch has provided excellent reception. I connect to cable and upon installing unit, I found that I needed an upgraded cable box from the cable company. I would recommend after purchase and while waiting delivery, to contact your cable compant to see is there are any special cable requirements that your company requires to view HDTV.

1 Star Reviewpoor quality
Strengths: design, picture
Weaknesses: quality, support
Summary: I own a video game business and chose these as my TVs. I purchased 16 of them and I have had the same problem on 3 of the 16. One of them turned on first time and stayed on for 30 sec. and would never turn on again. The 3 that lose picture do so because of poor heat sinking and Westinghouse would not honor the warranty though they had less than 40 hours of operation because I was a business. I would NEVER recommend Westinghouse to anybody. You have a greater than 25% of getting a bad TV and good luck getting help.
