Strengths: Up conversion provides noticible difference in HD quality
Weaknesses: None
Summary: The difference is real with DVD in up-conversion. This unit was easy to install and start up. (Now we have about 7 remote controls, time for a universal) I have it inputting to a 40" Sony HD LCD and it is awesome.

Probably the VCR won't get much more use, but it's there as a legacy capability. Gone the way of BETA and 8-tracks, pretty soon.

Strengths: Great picture; ease of use; VCR video output is clear, even playing old tapes.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I was looking for a VCR player to connect to my DVR to allow me to convert the last of my VHS tapes to DVD, and found it made the most $ense to get a combination DVD/VCR. I wasn't expecting much from the VCR but have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the picture, especially playing old tapes. I'd recommend this unit to anyone.

Strengths: Good price, easy to set up, many feature
Weaknesses: Remote control, LCD display
Summary: This player puts out good picture for both DVD and VHS with plenty of feature. It is very easy to set up with a minimal wires connecting. The remote control is hard to read if the lighting is not sufficient for too many labels for the keys. The LCD display does not show second, only hour and minute, during both DVD and VHS playback.

Strengths: Relatively easy to set up.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Product is as described. Have not tried a VHS tape in it yet, but this was an important feature for me. DVDs play easily. I like how you can "rewind" just a few frames instead of only being able to go back in sections. Good picture quality & excellent price for upconversion. Remote works easily w/ my Toshiba flatscreen LCD.
