Strengths: It takes very good quality photos. High definition, large memory, good captures. And its appearance is very good, compact and fashion.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: 2004-10-22 18:17:41 This camera takes great photos and gives you lots of options, from simple point and shoot to preprogrammed settings (landscapes, fireworks, dusk, closeups) to total manipulation of features and images using camera features and software. It is compact while easy to get your fingers on the "mouse" and dial. You'd be surprised by the quality of movies and audio (movies with sound and sound alone features) for an inexpensive camera that is not meant to be a true video/audio recorder.

Strengths: sleek design, picture quality, fast startup time, good LCD
Weaknesses: Not many manual featres
Summary: This is an excellent nice looking point-and-shoot camera. There are not many manual features available, but but for an average photographer like me, it has several picture modes and hence its very easy to use.
This compact camera is 3.2MP one. It has 15 preset Scene shooting modes, and some standard Nikon digicam exposure features. SO you can shoot excellent pictures under a wide range of shooting conditions.
It stores images on SD or MMC memory cards and a 16MB card comes free with the camera, but it can only hold about 10 good-quality photos. You should plan on buying a much larger memory card along with the camera.
It has a USB interface for downloading images to a PC and auto-transfer option sets the camera to automatically begin downloading images as soon as it is connected to a computer loaded with the supplied Nikon software.
Overall an excellent point-n-shoot camera for the average photographer.

Strengths: Easy to use. Very compact and light. Comes with rechargable battery. Long battery life.
Weaknesses: A little noise on the picture when shooting at a dim environment which I think is pretty normal for this kind of camera.
Summary: This is an excellent camera for point and shoot. I would recommend this camera for a day to day use since the size is very compact and light.

Strengths: Great pics, fast start up from powering on, easy to set up & let someone else take pics
Weaknesses: Some features buried deep in menus
Summary: I did a ton of research on digicams, eventually deciding to get a Canon. However, at the camera store, the man behind the counter said they were out of that particular model, so he showed me the Coolpix 3700.
I bought that & a case - & had buyer's regret. My husband told me to give it a chance, to start using it & see for myself if it was any good.
The first shots I took were very good, & when I did a movie with my 2 howling Malamutes in the backyard, I warmed to it.
I warmed even more when we went on vacation to San Francisco in April. A spectacularly sunny week - & the pics showed it! Shots taken by the Golden Gate Bridge, at Muir Woods, at the Wharf...you name it, the beautiful blues and reds et al. were spectacular.
The one downside to all this is that I have yet to explore the camera's features, altho it would have been nice if Nikon did bury a lot of them; it's hard to remember where certain features are located if you're trying to take a quick shot!
It has a solid feel and the price is just right (and who says you need more megapixels to get great pics?). The SD memory that comes with the digicam, as is typical, is nothing, so an upgrade to two 256 cards (they're pretty cheap now) should be enough memory to save plenty of pics.
As for the included lithium battery, it lasted a couple of days, but I had come prepared by bringing 2 CP1 batteries (you can find them for a decent price at Wal-Mart). True, CP1s are disposable and thus aren't as eco-friendly as the rechargeables, but then what do you do when your rechargeable goes down in the middle of taking shots? That's why I suggest bringing along at least one CP1 battery, just in case.
All in all, this is a wonderful point and shoot camera.

Strengths: Quality of pictures,
Battery life,
Compact size
Weaknesses: Software glitches?
Summary: This is my first digital camera and I love it! I can go on and on about the camera but that will take too long. So I will just hit the highlights.
*EXCELLENT battery life! I took this camera with me to Asia for 5 weeks, and I only needed to charge my camera every 3-4 days and I took thousands of pictures! Best part was, I didnt need to buy an adapter, the one it comes with is compatible to the voltage in the United States and overseas.
*Compact size. The small size fits perfectly in your pocket or a small purse. It's smaller than carrying your sunglasses!
*High quality pictures. I developed a lot of the pictures and the quality is amazing. You would never tell it was from a digital camera. The picture quality was as good if not better than pictures from my SLR camera, and the digital camera was only set for 2M.
*Very user friendly, easy to use, and the little joystick control is great! Allows u to manage the camera with just one hand.
I highly suggest upgrading your memory card. 16mb will not get you very far.
The reason I didnt give this camera 5 stars (believe me, I wanted to!) was because there were two times I turned on the camera and the screen went crazy and there were lines across it. I turned it off, took out my memory card and reinserted it, and it was fine afterwards. I dont know if its some software glitch with the camera or if my memory card was corrupted in some way because I had used it in a card reader right before it happened...
But overall, this is a great camera, and I highly recommend it!

Strengths: Small size - very portable! Battery life, stylish, ease of use, incredible video, excellent pics - killer price!
Weaknesses: A/V out cover flimsy.
Summary: I did a great deal of research and price comparing prior to finally buying my first digital camera. The price at $153 after $100 rebate cannot be beat. This camera retails for $399 still at most stores, although none seemed to have it in stock, only on the web.
This is truly a point and shoot camera. The scene options more than suffice for any type of shot. Don’t believe what others are saying in their complaints about not being able to manually adjust the camera. If you want that then go buy a thousand dollar plus SLR. The video is truly incredible and could easily replace the video camera you don't have or don't want to lug around.
If the price is not enough, then portable size should win you over. This camera easily fits in your pocket. Within minutes out of the box I had pictures taken, video recorded with sound, and downloaded onto my PC absent any additional software. In addition, the cable provided easily connects to your TV for video or picture slide shows. SD cards have come way down in price, in fact I just bought a third 256mb for $8 after rebate.
I cannot say enough about this great little camera. It clearly lives up to all of Nikon's specs.

Strengths: Great pictures, easy to use, great size and feel
Weaknesses: larger memory from manufacturer, night shots a bit noisy
Summary: I have been using digital cameras for two years now and have never purchased one for my own use. When I decided to buy one I did about two weeks worth of research and talking to other digital camera users, including a professor of photography at a Big11 University. I decided to buy the Nikon Coolpix 3700 and I am very glad I did. Right out of the box it came with everything you need. Set up was very easy. The controls are simple and straightforward. Choose the mode you want, let the auto-focus feature do it's thing and you have a beautiful picture. I have taken some incredible shots and the credit goes to the camera, not me. The detail is quite impressive and the colors true to life and vibrant. The sound sensitivity feature for taking pictures is quite nice. But the most sensitive setting is just that--very sensitive. Use only in very quiet environments. Nikon provides software for both PC and Mac. It's not bad. I prefer another program, but the Nikon software is usable. The Red Eye reduction feature is easy to use. Nikon provides everything you need right in the bod. But I would recommend buying a larger memory card. The one the camera comes with is great for normal, daily use. But if you are planning on going someplace special or having an event where you will be taking many pictures, you will need 128 or preferably 256mb. Especially if you want to use the movie mode. This is great and easy to use but eats up memory like a pig in slop. The movies are clear and the sound is great. After all my research I had it narrowed down to two cameras--the Nikon Coolpix 3700 and a Canon. They were both about the same price with similar features. I am glad I went witht he Nikon. I recommend this camera highly to everyone I meet. Several friends and co-workers have used my camera and were very impressed with it. Buy without hesitation.

Strengths: nice metal built, excellent features, good battery life, sharp pics with real colours.impressive macro, sharp & clear LCD Display.
Weaknesses: Not so good at indoor without flash but this is where DSLRs are required.Since its a pointnshoot so know its limitation.
Summary: 2005-01-03 13:15:55 Just bought this camera two weeks ago. Excellent model for pointnshoot category. Want a camera that takes all credit for capturing excellent sharp pics rather than me taking credit after changing a lot of manual setings and spending a lot of time. I want the experts to do the job for me and that is where Nikon is good at.
Well I have the problem of selecting b/w sony W1 and Nikon 3700. When it comes to batteries, big LCD,manual shutter.Manual ISO and faster performance, more MPs i just want to go with W1 but on the other hand it had problems that u even cant tolerate with these above benifits. One of them is blurry, out of focus problems most of the time
which is being reported by most of the users and by watching the W1 pics on pbase.com 6 out of 10 pics are blurry either due to hand shake, slow shutter or out of focus problems.Second its pic is soft when compared to others including Nikon and cannon. When they both combine (soft pics with blurry, out of focus ) , the pic quality is terrible.and when it comes to nikon they are really good at capturing real colours, good clarity along with sharp pics.
And most of all its video mode is better than others which uses quicktime format .I compared the videos by downloading from reviews site and 3700 is clear and sharp..
finally there is a little bit noise when it comes to auto ISO that looks not good to eyes when watch it straight out of camera on Tv or moniter at 100 % but this feature gives u always sharp, bright and well exposed pics at the expense of some noise. But believe me this is far better than cameras that have built in noise reduction that washed out the highlights & details in pics. its better to have option to clean urself noise in noiseware or neatimage according to ur liking.

Strengths: Excellent Nikon Quality! Small but not too small. Great features.
Weaknesses: Flash could be a little stronger.
Summary: This camera was exactly what I expected from Nikon. As with all compact cameras it will not do everything the larger ones will do. If you are interested in a small camera that is fairly easy to use I highly recommend the Coolpix 3700.
Image quality is good and the current price is unbeatable for the quality you receive.

Strengths: Looks beautiful and small with decent image quality
Weaknesses: A little noise when shooting in the dim
Summary: I bought this camera for my wife, obviously she has more interest with this one compared with my big heavy digital SLR. After these several days using, I find the picture quality is good enough for this kind of digital camera use for. The more important, it looks nice, small and convenient, the 640x480 30fps is fairly good, and it can even record unlimited audio.
Now, I would like to use this camera as a secondary one (already owe Canon 300D) for my family that can be taken out and take photo at any time.
I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. It is a fantastic little camera in all respects. You will have fun with it.

Strengths: Good picture quality. Compact size, light weight, ease of use (my wife loves it). Good battery life. Pictures are great among cameras in this category.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I have bought the Coolpix 3700 as a backup camera to my digital Rebel. I had considered an Powershot S410 but the price was too high for me. The 3700 is at a great price (with a $100 rebate) and the picture quality is good enough for 8x10 photos if I needed although it would mainly be used in 4x6 photo prints or on the TV as part of my video slides. I have not missed a single opportunity with this additional camera. In addition, it is a lot easier to ask someone else to take a group picture with the Coolpix than to handle an SLR. The download process to a Windows XP computer is easy, pretty standard with Microsoft's download wizard. It will also appear as a disk drive that allows you to manipulate the file content directly.

Weaknesses: Some controls are too small if you have large fingers. Otherwise it is fine.

Weaknesses: video size is too small if you have a small card
Summary: This is an unbelievable camera, I love it. Especially for the price I paid this camera does everything I want from a much better camera. I am so far quite happy that I got this. I only wish I had waited a little more because in 1 week price dropped by 14 dollars!
