Strengths: Great price/performance
Easy to setup and use
Supports HD signals
Weaknesses: Poor remote control, hard to edit channels, and slow to respond at times
Doesn't have connectors on the side of the panel
PIP is horrible, must use HDMI as your 2ndary source.
Summary: It is a large, great TV and is larger, greater for the price. This LCD is amazing when watching programs and DVDs, works pretty well as a monitor, it presents HD pictures that really do look very sharp and detailed. I'm totally satisfied with the image brightness and image quality.
Installation and setup are simple.
The 8ms response time is not enough on some fast-moving action games. But it is good enough for me.
Integrated speaker system is good; the 20 Watt set is fine for me.
But the quality of the remote control is poor; it is slow to respond at times, even with a fresh set of batteries.
It has a lot of connectors but doesn't have any on the side of the panel. Placement of video connectors could prove troublesome especially wall mounting -connectors are recessed within a compartment on the rear of the unit, which would be difficult to access if the panel was flush against a wall.
I don't think I should ask so much for a 40" LCD which is less than $1000.

Strengths: High resolution. Fast refresh rate. Color contrast. Decent speakers.
Weaknesses: -Remote. No Backlight and lack of features.
-No PIP
Summary: People complaint that the TV did not have vivid color. You have to adjust the color setting to fit you.
The resolution is high and refresh rate is good.
There is a few seconds of lag time before it is able to turn on, but that is fine to me. I was not able to find PIP although i thought that I saw that it did somewhere.
Overall, I am happy with the TV

Strengths: Clear and crisp HD picture, Price (I got this one sale with rebate)
Weaknesses: Remote is pretty bland, Viewsonic LCD is not compatiable with all in one remotes.
Summary: I upgraded to this LCD TV from the Viewsonic N3250W. This is was a significant improvement over my previous LCD TV. The N4060w has multiple components inputs (previous 32" only had 1), On screen menu is much more responsive, Picture Quality was also better than previous one. However the remote is still the same as the other unit and Viewsonic TV are not compitable with some universal remotes.
Overall, Viewsonic has made significant improvements in the HDTV market and this unit is well positioned to be an excellent value LCD HDTV.

Strengths: Great picture, very bright, the built-in tuner is pretty quick changing channels. Speakers so so. Menu system very intuitive. Lightweight, thin, and fits where my 32" TV use to sit.
Weaknesses: Annoying remote control won't work with other peripherals...only works for the Viewsonic TV. Other universal remotes won't work for Viewsonic.
Summary: Another annoying thing is that you have to manually turn the TV sound off in order to hear the stereo that is hooked up to system. Every time the TV turns on, you have to do this.
DVD's and HD appears very clear. The 1080i format comes in very clear. Sometimes you will see square pixelation, that's because it is not 1080p.
Overall, good experience with Viewsonic.

Strengths: The greatest selling point of the TV is the quality price ratio. Similar LCD from Sony and Samsung would cost double but I don't see them much better. Black color matches my setup. HDMI included.
Weaknesses: Remote sucks. It doesn't work at all. I need to call Viewsonic for a replacement.
Summary: Overall a very good purchase. It has very good picture quality, elegant look. And this is probably the cheapest quality 40" LCD TV I can find. Very satisfied with it.

Strengths: Built in ATSC tuner, Good picture quality. Low price.
Weaknesses: Limited options in adjusting picture quality/color, not enought av input, not great looking design.
Summary: I purchased this tv for $899 after $100 mail in rebate. That is very cheap for a 40 inch lcd tv with ATSC tuner. The good picture quality is a plus. It is just hard to adjust them for there is not much options. Compared to other LCD TV on its price range...this is easily the better tv. The built in ATSC tuner can pick up over the air digital tv signal. You can watch digital tv for free.

Strengths: Great picture though it did require some tweaking out of the box
Weaknesses: my all in one remote doesn't work with this set
Summary: colors were off out of the box, but after some tweaking, the picture looks really good...could not resist the $899 price after rebate at Fry's and worth every penny, this will serve as my main TV for awhile, have always liked their monitors and now I like their LCD TVs as well

Strengths: Strong color contrasts and no dead pixels. Comes equipped with stand and mounting holes for wall mount
Weaknesses: Not 1080p resolution. Remote control is not particularly well designed. No component inputs provided.
Summary: I have been pretty impressed with the picture quality on this set. I bought it not knowing what to expect from ViewSonic since they are primarily only known as a PC monitor manufacturer, but I have been pleasantly surprised.
For the price point paid, this was a great buy and I highly recommend it to others considering purchase.

Strengths: Unbeatable quality price ratio in the next half year at least.
Weaknesses: Over saturated color; ONLY ONE HDMI input which is critical for the best picture qulaity on this TV.
Summary: If you have a plan to buy a LCD HDTV at this size recently and your budget is above $1500, I would not recommend this TV. I would recommend sumsung series like LNS4051D from Amazon.com. But if you only want to pay less than $1000, no LCD TV can beat this one.
Picture quality is around/above average, not as good as sumsung. Human skin looks oversaturated and I cann't adjust it by tuning the options on screen this TV provide, especially when you are using component input. But I can somehow solve this problem by using DVI(from my cable box) to HDMI signal flow. This is proved when I saw sony HDRHC3 playback picture quality greatly improved after switched from component in to HDMI in. As HDMI input is so critical to the PQ and it only has one, it becomes a drawback.
If you want to use this Tv as PC moninitor for 50% of its life like I intend to use it, don't choose plasma cuz plasma has burn in problem even plasma usually can give you more contrast ratio and better sharpness. To get the best picture quality as PC monitor you have to use VGA input. This TV can only support 1280x1024 when I use DVI to HDMI. Then I got a DVI to VGA cable then I can set the screen to 1360x768. Then everything looks great!
A lot of people complained about the malfunction of remote but I havn't got such a problem yet. Maybe that's because I haven't tried PIP function but I don't like PIP anyway. I don't care. The remote is so far so good, looks cheap though.
Dimension of this TV is on par with sumsung and sony. Weight is amoung average. You can wall mount it but I dodn't plan to do it.
Final word, if you don't sit within 3 feet to the TV you don't really need 1080P. So this TV-1080i is great enough. Don't spend a lot more for a 1080P unless you have a lot of 1080P video source.

Strengths: Size! Viewsonic quality. HDMI and VGA jacks.
Weaknesses: Already wish it had more input jacks. Picture quality requires tweaking. Maxes out at 1080i.
Summary: Got this for less than a grand (shipped, no tax) online, at the time a very hot deal indeed. In two short months, I've seen numerous additional deals on large LCDs indicating that the inevitable downward price spiral has finally begun for this technology. In two years, I suspect this set will already seem overpriced and obsolete. However, at the moment, this is still a great starter set for anyone upgrading from clunky old standard definition TV. You will need to spend some time with a decent calibration disk to really maximize its potential. Doesn't do 1080p.

Strengths: Very nice picture quality, style of TV
Weaknesses: Very minor audible hum from speakers even when not using them for sound
Summary: Overall great TV especially for some of the prices it has gone for recently (sub $1k). Very good picture quality and overall design. Unless you are able to get a 1080p set for not much more, this is worth it and will last a while.

40 viewsonic LCD TV
Strengths: Great Price for the quality. Images are great.
Weaknesses: Contrast ratio could be better and remote needs some work on. Sound output & speakers are horrible.
Summary: 2007-08-21 19:55:53 Only one HDMI port and limits many other hdmi device. Good viewing angles impresses me even im walking around the house while watching tv. IT is the best tv for the bucks. Highly recommend it. First i thought it was the speakers were bad of these static noise when i turn the volume to be louder (trust me I am not breaking the glass), then i put my 5.1 system into the system, same results. I had used these 5.1 system on other electronics and sounded great and loud but not for this TV. I think the sound output is just bad.
***TV does not turn on anymore after 8 months*** RMA and shipped it back but still have not hear anything back from Viewsonic yet. I cannot believe this happened.

Strengths: built in tuner, large size, lower price
Weaknesses: contrast could be better
Summary: This is a great entry level monitor with a built in tuner. Pictures a crisp and clear. The only complaint I have is that in dark scenes detail is lost due to the lower contrast. Also, the built in speakers are not that great, but most people won't use those anyway; so why pay for better ones to be built in.
