Strengths: Great immunity to interference
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Bought to replace a standard Xantech IR receiver (I forget the model number, it's the cheaper one that is not specially interference-resistant). The old IR receiver worked great for over a year and then suddenly stopped working due to some kind of noise or interference (the LED flashed constantly -- when I moved it to a different room the LED stopped flashing and it worked fine so I knew it wasn't bad hardware). We couldn't track down the source of interference, so I tried ordering the 291-80 -- it's working great, it's not affected by the interference at all.
