Strengths: Perfect fit for DD opening in xB (with Metra trim kit).
Sonically superior to OEM (Pioneer) HU.
Two available AUX inputs on rear panel (1 AUX w/RCA, 1 AUX with purchase of inexpensive adapter).
Weaknesses: No front-panel AUX input.
Menu controls non-intuitive.
Instruction manual is one of the worst ever.
Remote too big.
Faceplate should say "Security code protected" to discourage thieves.
Summary: I bought this HU to replace the unimpressive Pioneer HU in my 2005 xB; I needed AUX connections for iPod and Sirius One receiver, and I wanted a double-din system. Choices of DD HUs are limited. I hit a home-run with the Kenwood DPX301. this unit fits PERFECTLY in the DD opening of my xB ( www.scionlife.com/prof...). The sound is fantastic...I can hear little nuances in my music that I couldn't hear with the OEM HU. I wish there were a few more equilization settings, but there is a 'User' customizable one. The manual is horrible...you're pretty much on your own there. This is the low end of the Kenwood line; DPX501/701 are more cutomizable but are not hugely better sound-wise. Highly recommended.
