Strengths: Graphics, controls, Light Hearted Cut Scenes
Weaknesses: No Multiplayer
Summary: Battalion Wars is basically a cross between a 3rd person shooter and a strategy game as not only can you command what you want your troops to do but you will be controlling a character in which you will be helping out with the action. The game itself consists of a 20 mission campaign which will vary in which you will have to do in different missions since you may have to defend something in one and in another destroy a certain location(s). The game itself while being a war game tends to be light hearted with the goofy characters that will be interacting during the cut scenes between missions. The only real complaints about Battalion Wars is the lack of multiplayer and that it doesn't offer a wider variety of modes that could have given Battalion Wars more replay value after finishing the game.

I would highly recommend Battalion Wars to fans of 3rd Person Shooters and or strategy games as it can be found cheap (used) even at GameStop and is well done (not to mention) one of the few games of it's type on the GameCube.

3 Star ReviewThis is War
Strengths: Lots of different vehicles and troop types to use. Fun and varied campaign.
Weaknesses: Campaign mode is fairly short. Controls take some time to learn. Game is very difficult.
Summary: Battalion Wars for the Gamecube is an action/strategy game. You control multiple groups of soldiers and move them around the battlefield. The controls can be somewhat complex at first and take some time to master. There are numerous land and air vehicles to control. The game is fun to play but it also has a high difficulty level. The graphics are decent but not the best the Gamecube has to offer. If you are looking for a unique and fun military game, you should give Battalion Wars a try.

Strengths: Great graphics, fun and innovative play.
Weaknesses: One player only, short campaign mode, akward controls.
Summary: Battalion Wars is a 3D third person shooter. This is a spin off of the GBA's Advance War series. You must play this game strategically to be successful...it is not just a random shooter. You control air units and foot patrols. There is no naval fleet in this game. I would reccommend this game if you can find it cheap, which should not be a problem with Battalion Wars 2 coming out for the Wii. It does not have the same brilliance as Advance Wars, and is plagued by a relatively easy short campaign (only 5 hours long).
