Strengths: Very stylish design, 12 Band, can receive all Radar & Laser signals including the latest Ku Radar gun, Electronic compass, Awesome features
Weaknesses: Unit bounces on the windshield mounting, Low display quality (Bit hard to read the green display sometimes) and you might consider this bit bulky.

It has a very stylish design which suites your car windshield or the dashboard, it looks so cool there. When switched on, the device carries a self test and tells that everything is ready go. In the standby mode, the 8 point electronic compass is very handy feature built in. >>
This is capable of picking up all radar & laser currently being used for speed measurement, including the new Ku band radar gun. The unit is also capable of detecting the instant on POP radar gun. Still you can switch off some radar bands individually if you don’t want to be using it. AutoMute & IntelliMute are great features of the device; AutoMute reduces the volume automatically after few seconds of receiving a signal so there will be no irritation with high volume alert continuously and IntelliMute mute all Radar/Laser warnings if your car is on idle. The unit provides protection against Radar detector detectors like VG-2 and Spectre1. And also it can warn you presence of such detectors if you want it to. >>
For all those who have mentioned about false alarms, I believe this unit generate false alarms coz it extremely sensitive. As I experienced, near microwave towers device generates a Ka alert most of the time, X and K alerts where I believe some other radar sources are, like auto door openers. I guess Cobra designed this unit to be very sensitive for the weakest signal to gain “Xtream Range”. Except when you’re in the city mode, there is no way to filter false alarms. It’s always a compromise. It’s up to the user to identify the potential threat by reading the signal strength. Still, the City mode does not have a function to filter Ka & Ku bands. >>
The audio alerts are very clear with it's nice female voice and own pattern of buzzing for each radar and laser warning. >>
I been using this unit on roads of Sri Lanka, and I got myself saved on the very first day of using the device. Normally if the signal strength is 1 or 2, most of the time it’s a false alarm, or a police speed gun bit far away. But if the signal strength go beyond level 3, that tells me of a police speed gun close by. And I'm proud to tell you to this moment, I have saved over 15 speed tickets. Even if you were the first target of a radar gun, quick action of yours followed by the alert can save you a speed ticket. >>
There are only few weaknesses; I hope Cobra electronics will work on them on their up coming models. The unit is bit bouncy on the windshield bracket. A solid fix would be great. And I prefer the display to be better in quality. The green colored character indication is kind of less in quality compared to the external stylish finish & the massive capabilities of the device. >>
When installing the device, I did my own wiring to power the unit & installed it next to rear view mirror towards driver's side. In this installation, you have to make sure the unit’s Laser eye has a clear view of rear windshield to obtain 360 degree Laser detection. I liked a higher position coz if I installed it lower near to the dash board, everybody can recognize a presence of some gadget very easily. That could be a risk of theft & or the unit seen by a policemen. (Check out the pictures below) >>
Finally, Cobra XRS 9730 is great value for money. I say go for it, you will never regret with its stylish design, features & most importantly when you start saving your money & valuable time you had to waste on speed tickets! >>

Strengths: Stylish design, super 12 bands range power
Weaknesses: Compass setting it's a little wasting time process
Summary: I just love this item when picking up radar signals, the only thing I don't like is the setting I have to do for the compass some times when using it between my car and my family vehicle, so I have to drive 2 complete circles to get done. Also I would like a power cord that could be easily put it in a hidden location around the windshield.

Strengths: picks up all radar
Weaknesses: picks up all radar
Summary: Used the new radar detector in our new BMW on a road trip from NH to DC. Didn't get a ticket and didn't go slow! Tested the new car and the radar efficiently.

 Cobra XRS 9730 Strengths: good design. ku band detect. voice alert.
Weaknesses: so many false alarm. especially x band.
Summary: 2007-12-17 10:39:14 You will get many false alarms. However, if you turn off X band then it will be much better. Text message is not eay to read. Do not put much trust on this device. I would say 50 50. If you belive this, and speed up, then you will get
as many tickets as you want. The reason is that it is not a 360 degree radar detector. Also, detection range is too short. I would say less than a mile. It's better than nothing, but no more no less. Compass setting is cumbersome.

Strengths: the price was great for all the features it offers. i was looking to get a V1 but this will do the trick. lots of bands - good range - etc.
Weaknesses: what is with these things and their dangley cords. i am going to hardwire mine. i hope there aren;t lots of false alarms.
Summary: i got a ticket two weeks ago and finally realized i really need anohter warning system other than my eyes. i was coming down a hill and bang- pig got me. a friend of mine has a older model cobra which worked out well for him- except for all the false alarms- but this one has a compass which will eliminate my worry w/ false alarms a little.

Summary: Cobra Xrs 9730 is excellent radar for its price and features available. The staff at the manu. company is also very helpful. Cannot go wrong. Go for it. One of the best product from one of the best company.

Strengths: Looks Great, Works well
Weaknesses: nothing I can winge about really
Summary: I find this unit better than my Valentine which is now in the wifes car. It seems to have the same sensitivity with around the same range, the voice alert is great . Every time there has been an alert where a Police car is running some sort of radar, this unit has alerted us well before we actually saw the police car. We live across the road from a police station so there are heaps of patrol cars around here and they are very strict on the speed limit along the beach front.
If you read the manual (downloadable from the Cobra website) and get to understand the alerts etc then set it up to suit your needs,the false alerts are minimal. I am totally happy with this product. And for the price would recommend it over one of the bigger name brands.

Summary: My friend told me about COBRA RADAR DETECTOR, and his was very satisfied, so I decided to buy Cobra XRS 9730. This is really good thing because when I started use it I know when I should slow down:) Cannot go wrong. Go for it. One of the best product from one of the best company. I would recommend this product!!!

Strengths: Different bandwidths, compass, screen, size, volume control
Weaknesses: they suggest placing it in the center of your windshield, so its hard to setup if you are moving. Solved simply by stopping to adjust.
Summary: Great product, used it for a few 2 hour trips and it caught a bunch of signals. It does get a lot of false alarms depending on the setting that is used, but id rather have false alarms than a ticket. I didn't think I would use the compass, but it is a nice feature since my car does not have one. Overall very impressed with the product. I read another review here that said it was a little bulky, but it did not feel that way to me and my car is tiny (ford focus).
I would recommend this product!
