Strengths: Laser detection 360, Ka detection 360, Strobe
Weaknesses: Detection range is obscure and window mount bracket could be more heavy duty like that Valentine 1.
Summary: I have 40% tint on my entire windshield but this detector still does good with that. It's mounted about 3 inches south of center on the windshield and 3 inches left. It's picking up 360 radar/laser and still close to me so I can adjust the settings easier. Sometimes, it picks up Ka from over a mile away and sometimes it's almost as I'm on top of the cop. This also can be b/c the cop may have turned the radar on when I was closer rather than having it on the whole time. Laser detection is great.........85 in a 40 and got tagged 3 times with Laser by state troopers on the side of the road about 150 yards away. Laser.....delay.....Laser........delay......Laser and I pass the cops at 45 mph. They look at me and just look back at the road.

I think this is a great buy for the price and it has helped me out a good bit.

Strengths: Lots of useful feature. like Intellimute... Easy operation, Voice alert is very good. and loud enough. Controls are handy
Weaknesses: Little costly . but value for money
Summary: You need to adjust the factory settings to some preferred setting for VG2 detections. Normally its off.

Strengths: Voice Alert, 360* Laser, low Price
Weaknesses: False Readings from Automatic Doors, lacks digital display.
Summary: if you're looking for a budget detector then you need to look no further. This unit usually retails for over $100, but can be found online for close to $75. The voice alert is a great feature, and rare on detectors in this price range. It would be nice to have a true digital display. My only real complaint is that city mode is a bit too sensitive to K band (the bad that trips when you get too close to automatic doors).

Everything else aside, this is definitely a detector for the average joe on a budget.

1 Star ReviewCOBRA XRS 9430 (Buyer Beware)
Strengths: Super detection of ..... Emergency vehicles from the front and back only!
Weaknesses: Super lowsy detection of ..... everything else!
Summary: I purchased this radar detector at Target for $99.99. I owned (key word) this product for about three weeks and during that time tested and evaluated the performance of it. I mounted my detector at the top most part of my vehicle (1999 Camry LE) underneath a lightly tinted tint. For the first two weeks I always traveled at the posted speed limit and observed for any patrol cars cruising around or parked off to the side the best I could. During the two weeks I observed a grand total of 90 patrol units around town. First, this detector can't detect any police car even if it is straight in front of it, to the side, or behind you. And by close I mean not enough room for a broom handle. 88 of the total police cars had no lights or sirens on while passing, and out of the 2 that did it still didn't catch them! All 90 were cars and not motorcycles so as far they go who knows, but if it did what it did for the cars then well you know how the story will go. This detector should not be used if your sole purpose of buying it is to catch police cars before they catch you. On the other side if you are wanting a device that can pick up ambulances and firetrucks over 4.0 miles (straight-way with bumper to bumper cars then this is for you! My total count for emergency vehicles was 28 and out of 28 it picked up all 28 at more than 4.0 miles away! For those of you that don't know it is the strobe flashing light on the lightbar of the vehicle that the detector is looking for (so mount it as high as you can as I did) This strobe is also what makes the traffic signal turn from red to green or stay green for an unlimited amount of time in about 2-3 seconds! Overall, not great for being notified at least a good general amount of time to slow down (no warning at all in this case). Superb for being notified of emergency vehicles from the front and back, but not even any warning if they are on a side street)

Strengths: Scans the majority of bands.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: This fit perfectly against my windshield and dash board. It stays out of my field of view and doesn't have as many false alarms when compared to other radar detectors I have owned. A must have to avoid expensive tickets!
