Strengths: Performance, feel, fit
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This is vastly superior to the Apple stock setup. The keyboard has a light feel to it that took a wee bit of getting used to (vs. others) but now I love it - can type very quickly and accurately. Buttons are labeled and configured for Mac, as is right. Mouse is very accurate (laser, vs. LED) and ergonomic. Setup is easy and customizable using the system prefs panel. I have owned Apple, Microsoft, Macally, and even other Logitech products, and this is my favorite.

Strengths: Good looking and ease of use of the mouse.
Weaknesses: Keyboard is bit "loud" like the other user said
Summary: But over all I'm happy with the purchase. The keyboard is white and bit of gray/silver around it. Keys on the sides are very useful but there aren't many to customize. I recommend getting LCC 2.0 from Logitech.com (latest software as of 6/06). Keyboard needs some getting used to. I was used to using my PowerBook keyboard where it's super quiet but the Logitech keyboard is just like PC keyboard you hear keys as you type. The mouse was the main reason I decided to get S530. Well, the keyboard "Made for Mac" was another reason but the mouse was what I needed. I'm used to Logitech wireless mouse with thumb button for navigating web browser. I was really beginning to miss that on just PowerBook alone. So I decided to get S530 based on reviews from the users and CNET.com's review. Overall, I'm happy with my keyboard/mouse!

Strengths: Beautiful construction, easy to set up, perfectly integrated
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I ordered this for my IMAC 17 inch and setting it up was as simple as putting in the batteries and plugging it in. All the buttons are useful specifically for the mac. The keyboard is extremely light and thin, and easy to type on. This is definitely a good deal for mac users. I do not know the exact distance I canbe away from the computer.

Strengths: Extremely Customizable, Great Style, Easy Setup
Weaknesses: Keys a bit loud, Mouse sensitivity quirky, slow response for iTunes controls
Summary: This review is for the Logitech S530 mouse and keyboard designed specifically for Mac. When I first took the keyboard and mouse out of the box I was impressed by the style of the set. The silver is different from any of the pictures that I had seen, but it is the same silver as any PowerBook or PowerMac. So, this set will fit right in with any i-series or Power series Mac that has been fasioned in the past 5 years. Setup of the system was a breeze. The keyboard and mouse worked as soon as I plugged it into the computer. The Logitech Control Center software was easy to install, and oh the possibilities for customization of this combo. The software by default is set to launch iTunes, iPhoto, Spotlight, and Mail, but ALL of the buttons can be customized to whatever you would like from clicks to keystrokes. The buttons may be confusing after you customize them because they still have the symbols for their default uses, i.e. the speakers for volume and the envelope for Mail, but that is a small matter in the broad scope of things.

There are a couple little quirks of the combo that kept it from receiving five stars. First of all is that the keys tend to be a bit loud. The aren't necessarily louder than any other full keyboard, but I was used to the slick keys of my PowerBook and therefore they caught me by surprise. But after a little use they aren't all that noticable, and they work very smooth in practice. Secondly, the mouse takes a little tweeking to get the right speed. I tried for a couple days to mess around with the speed and finally got something that wasn't too fast or too slow. It seems to be that on the smaller hand movements the mouse becomes extra sensitive and moves quite a bit slower and on the broader movements goes much faster. Of course you should take into consideration I'm coming from using a TouchPad the past three years and am not used to new laser mice.

All in all the combo is very solid, and good enough for anyone on a budget. It's just nice to have a solid keyboard/mouse combo out there on the market made exclusively for Mac by somone other than Apple.

Strengths: good mouse
Weaknesses: minor
Summary: After a few days with this combo a slightly mixed picture.

KEYBOARD - Extremely short key travel (stroke). Some may like it, for me it took a long time to get used to it. Keys a bit too soft or mushy. Again this is personal so your milage may differ. Bit noisy. Apple's keyboards fit me much better although they are extremely sensitive to spills and collect and display dirt like there was no tomorrow. Have no idea how robust this one is going to be.

The keyboard feels a little bit too plastic. This is unpleasant especially with the palm rest. Don't care about extra buttons, they just make it bigger w/o bringing significant additional functionality to me at least.

Apple wireless is a slightly better option imho.

---

MOUSE. I dislike Apple mice of any kind. I'm coming from Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 which was perfectly designed to fit your hand. I especially liked the simulated-leather finish. This one feels cheapo plastic both to touch and eyes.

MS mouse had a ton of problems though, extremely poor RF sensitivity, very picky about mousing surfaces and poor battery life. This one is a dramatic improvement. In fact this is the best mouse I ever used. Better finish and improving their software to allow customization of sensitivity and button assignments on application basic (as in MS software) would make it perfect.

---

PRICE. You pay roughly twice as much for the privilege of having Mac labeled keyboard. Identical Logitech PC combo (S510) is often rebated selling for $20-30 less. Not sure if PC version would work with macs.

2 Star ReviewProbably not the best
Strengths: Lots of Apple keys on the keyboard for direct access to functions
Weaknesses: The keys seem heavy to me. The c key often does not omunicate, that should read comunicate. Writing that one word took three attempts.
Summary: I thought that this keyboard mouse combination would be perfect as I wanted to do away with wires. However, I find that the keyboard requires heavy key strokes. The mouse is OK but not good if you need to control your actions with some precision as in working with Photoshop. The mouse set up is not standard and requires some time to get used to. I am debating whether to replace this purchase.

Strengths: Easy to Use, Design, Hot Buttons
Weaknesses: Mouse tends to lag at high speed
Summary: Overall a very nice alternative to the OEM Apple Mouse and Keyboard. The hot buttons are very useful especially the iTunes button. Both the mouse and keyboard have a very nice elegant design and feel. The only flaw I found is that, like all wireless mice, there's a slight lag only noticeable at high speed movement or gaming.

Strengths: Solid Keyboard, Great mouse, extra buttons on the mouse, keyboard feeling
Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is a wonderful keyboard and mouse. Got it after my S510 crapped out and couldn't get a replacement. Typing feel is one of the best i've experienced, just second to the old and great IBM tick-tack keyboards. Highly recommend this combo for anyone.

2 Star ReviewNot compatiable
Strengths: Works if you want to key and click
Weaknesses: Not compatiable with Intel macs
Summary: This "wireless" combo is fine if your not going to use any of the multimedia keys, or any other features other than typing, or clicking. Keyboard shortcuts also do not always work, neither does the buttons on the mouse, at least not the way they are supposed to, other than the right and left clicking. Usually have to go into the control center and reconfigure after each boot up, most times that does not even work. Overall very dissapointed.

Strengths: Accuracy; Appearance; Feel
Weaknesses: Multimedia Buttons; Color
Summary: I have been using the S530 Cordless desktop for a couple of weeks and am pleased with the results.

The keyboard feels nice under the fingers and is a good size for any desktop. The keys, contrary to the Apple keyboard, are easy to push down, but not too easy as to create errors. The only downside to the keyboard are the multimedia buttons (iPhoto, Spotlight, iTunes). I just don't like them. I think they take away from the clean appearance of the keyboard. I don't plan on using them, but for the user that does, they seem to work just fine.

The mouse is a great fit for the right hand. I feel that it is extremely accurate and does a nice job scrolling. The forward/back buttons for internet page control are nice, but might have been positioned a little differently. I am NOT a fan of the volume buttons on the mouse. At first, I missed the expose feature from my Mighty Mouse, but after some button changes, I now have it. The control software bundled does a nice job of giving you control of what to do with the buttons on the mouse.

Overall, I would recommend this keyboard & mouse to any apple user who prefers the feel of a nicer, easier to use keyboard than the Apple Pro Keyboard. I thought that that keyboard was just a little too stiff. The colors don't quite match up perfectly with the Mac Mini, but it's close enough not to ruin it's functionality.

Strengths: Great aesthetics, good key feedback, compact, durable, battery life, wireless range
Weaknesses: Only compatable with mac.
Summary: No complaints about the keyboard. Bought it to pair up with my new Mac Mini that I am using for home entertainment system. Keyboard has ultra slim profile. Has good weight and and feel to it. Keyboard feedback is good. True plug and play action as with everything mac. If you want a great looking wireless keyboard and mouse for a MAC go with this one. One con: I want to set up mac mini moot camp and run windows xp on it but have problems setting up with windows drivers! Definately a buy for mac users.

Strengths: Programmable, wireless, comfortable, price, killer mouse
Weaknesses: hard plastic wrist rest, no CapsLock indicator light, white is a bit out dated in the mac world
Summary: I purchased this online for $50 as a daily mouse keyboard for my MacBook Pro. It is fantastic. The mouse is very good, has many programmable buttons, including a set dedicated to volume - a quick way to deal with music when I get a call. The feel of the mouse in hand is natural and precise. The keyboard is also very nice. keys feel nice and firm, the board hosts dedicated keys for volume, iPhoto, spotlight, iTunes, Mail, and are programmable. Worked right out of the box with very little set up. I downloaded the most recent driver, ran it and no problems. My only grip is the ergonomics of the keyboard wrist rest. The built-in plastic (silver) rest is hard plastic. After long hours or use it feels hard. I am use to a soft gel type rest like the MX and Desktop Wave versions offer. Add this and it is a 5 star.

3 Star ReviewLogitech wireless keyboard
Strengths: good wireless range, nice responsive keys, good color match with my computer
Weaknesses: mouse not very comfortable when used for an extended period of time
Summary: I was looking for a wireless keyboard with a good range. I tried this one out because it matched my computer aesthetically. The keyboard is awesome. I'm able to use it without any lag, even when I'm pretty far removed from my table. The keys are very responsive and not mushy at all. Battery life is decent. My only gripe is that the form of the mouse is not very comfortable for me, especially when I use it for a prolonged period.

Strengths: Great feel and responsiveness from keyboard. Mouse has excellent tracking and functionality. A matter of taste, but both are very comfortable for me.
Weaknesses: "Customer support" should have a warning: Abandon hope, all ye who enter here! It is manned by people who do not read requests for help and give useless responses in broken English.
Summary: My desktop arrived in a box which claimed compatibility with my OS and made no mention of a problem with Intel Macs, but the Logitech Control Center software included was a version that doesn't work with Intel. A download of the current version is available, although the site indicates it will work only when accessed from a computer with the desktop installed (which is not true). My help query prompted a response in broken English asking for information included already in the query. When the information was provided again, the "help" person sent a link to the site for downloads. After about five aggravating exchanges in which it was clear my "helper" lacked sufficient knowledge of English to communicate in it effectively, I got the LCC version I needed to control the neat features of the desktop. Bad support, but a really comfortable mouse and keyboard with full functions to make work quick and easy.
