Strengths: decent memory, high quality, quiet fan
Weaknesses: runs a little hot, requires a lot of power
Summary: 2006-04-15 09:41:41 This card is definitely a step up from my old 9600 Pro. I am now able to run Oblivion on high settings (as opposed to the low settings for 9600 pro) and have a smooth framerate. Only problem is that since I installed this card I have been unable to change the shadow setting for Sims 2, this might be game related though. Also, it makes my Shuttle XPC a little warmer than usual, but not enough to be alarming. All in all, this is a great card if you still want to stay with the AGP slot, just have to make sure that your power supply can deliver enough power to it (My Shuttle XPC SilentX 240W works, but for some people they needed a generic 350W or more).

Strengths: - 512 MB memory to run Q4/D3 at ultra quality - shader model 3.0 - allmost noiseless in idle
Weaknesses: - fan gets a little loud when using the card; easily solved with a zalman cooler -i can't see what temperature the card has, and I think it's pretty hot
Summary: This card is definitely a good upgrade for people who want to play the latest games at reasonable quality/fps, and have not too much money to spend. The 7800 GS is better for sure, but it just isn't worth it to buy a $ 350 card if you're gonna upgrade to pci-e anyway. I can run hl 2 at maximum (including 6AAand 16 AF) at 35-50 fps. Farcry patch 1.33 (with hdr) at full maximum; 25-30 fps outdoors and 55-70 indoors. Splinter cell chaos theory at the highest possible settings,....

A good card if u want to upgrade your old card or if u want to use sm3.0.

Strengths: Best AGP solution for its price range.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I've been using this card for 2 weeks and I liked it very much. I have played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Battle for Middle Earth II. In Oblivion, I could not use the highest settings, but the frame rate and the graphics were great at average settings and 1024*768. In BFMEII, I used ultra high settings in 1024*768. There was no problem except very crowded war scenes. So if you are not an advanced gamer who wants to play on 1600*1200 or higher with best graphics performance, I recommend this card. It is the best AGP solution for its price range.

It also features 720p high definition hardware accelerator if you buy the Cyberlink H.264 decoder for $14.95.

Don't forget to get the latest catalyst drivers from ati.com.

And note that you won't get full version games with the ~$120 version. You have only 1-hour previews of them.

3 Star ReviewGood for the money.
Strengths: Better than 9800 pro 128 mb performance, 256 megabytes instead of 128, relatively inexpensive.
Weaknesses: In my opinion, if you already have a 9800 pro with 256 megabytes, upgrading to a x1600 pro with 256 megabytes seems somewhat dubious.
Summary: This review is for an AGP version. Has worked fine for me so far, except making a change to an option in the Catalyst Control Center on the Catalyst's 6.3 drivers seems to possibly cause the computer to freeze (needing a reboot), although that might be a driver issue not related to the card. Got around a thousand points higher on 3dmark03 on this 256 mb x1600 pro compared with my 128 mb 9800 pro, which isn't all that significant, but the 128 mb difference between it and this x1600 pro can be useful nowadays as some games can utilize the "extra" 128 megabytes.

Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: Only 256MB, not 512MB. Not dual DVI.
Summary: Works very well with no complaints. This card can breathe new life into an AGP system depending on the card your upgrading from. Works well with Oblivion. Went from 640*480 with no eye candy to 1280*1024 with almost all eye candy and still keeping good frame rates.

3 Star ReviewX1600 Radeon AGP
Strengths: Not a bad card if your on a budget.
Weaknesses: ATI drivers could use some work, but people know that.
Summary: Not too shabby for a cheaper graphics card. If you can manage to sink a good deal on this card go right ahead. Look at benchmarking websites and you can get a feel for what this card can do. Know what types of games you wil be running and games that you will plan to get in the furure and realize it may not be able to run games that come out in the following years.
