Ice 2O - Problems
Strengths: Energy Efficient, Convenient, Looks nice
Weaknesses: Doors don't always shut automatically. Doors misalligned. Unbelievably poor service.
Summary: Fridge stopped working thursday. Called customer support. Only available 8am to 8pm Mon through Friday. There is a 2 day wait for service. Technician arrives on saturday. Has no training on the fridge but because he is smart enough he diagnoses the problem. A bad computer card. Calls for part. Back ordered (my guess is because they go bad all of the time). Says that it will be 3-5 business days to get part. I call on Monday. They say it will be 2-10 days to get the part. I ask why then, if I order a whole new fridge of the same model I can get it in 2 days? They said that they will check into it and get back to me.....
Not only will I never by a new fridge from Maytag but I'll never buy another product from them or Whirlpool, their owners. Please pass it around.

Looks Good But Does It Perform?
Strengths: Looks and space arrangement, especially in the freezer section.
Weaknesses: Reliability?
Summary: We've had the freezer for a little over three months now and its had a couple issues. As I write this review it sits at my house unusable because it simply died. Maytag doesn't have a 24 hour hotline to schedule service, which needs to be done through their service centers. I guess that Maytag guy decided he'd just go home. To their credit they're trying to get someone out fairly quickly but for what their stuff costs they really need to have scheduling be a 24 hour task and arrange to have refrigeration taken care of the next day.

Maytag Fridge Model MF12568AES
Strengths: Looks fancy lots of OOH's and AAH's
Weaknesses: Freezes veggies, can't lower the temp in drawer. Had to repair services calls within 1st 3 months
Summary: Maytag Service SUCKS! Had the new fridge less than 1 month and called about the veggies all freezing -they replaced the front control board. Then 2 weeks ago the back control board totally fried on NASCAR Sunday. I had a 14 people to feed. Couldn't reach anyone until Monday. They came out that afternoon and decided they had to order a new control board - it came direct on Thursday but no one could come out until the following Tuesday. My frozen food is scattered all over the neighborhood. It is STILL freezing all the veggies.

Weaknesses: Doors don't always shut automatically. Freezes veggies, can't increase the temp in drawer without rest of the Fridge being to warm. Service unbelievably poor.
Summary: 2007-05-03 09:43:25 : Icemaker stopped working in first 6 months, when the technician arrived he had an incorrect part in the box and had to order one. One week latter he arrived with the correct updated part and installed it. We were smart enough to buy a four-year extended warranty. The Fridge was 13 months old and stopped working Wednesday. Called customer support. Technician arrives and diagnoses the problem as bad computer card in the door. He then calls for part (my guess is because they go bad all of the time he knew right away what was the problem). Says that it will be 2-6 business days to get part. I call on Friday after the part arrives UPS. They say it will be Monday between 8am & 4pm before they can get a technician out to install the part. Problem turned out not to be the door control board that the technician had ordered, next he looked at the main control board, bet that he doesn’t have that part on his truck either. Technician had to order the main control board and it will be another week before he has it fixed(A&E doesn’t work this area except Monday and Wednesday although it is only 25 miles from Oklahoma City). I guess that Maytag guy and A&E(Sears extended warranty service) guy decided they would both just go home. They're not trying to get someone out fairly quickly but for what their stuff costs they really need to have scheduling be a 24 hour task and arrange to have refrigeration taken care of the next day.
Not only will I never by a new fridge from Maytag but I'll never buy another product from them or Whirlpool, their owners. Please pass it around.

I regret doing business with Maytag
Strengths: Nice looking, convenient layout.
Weaknesses: Poor function, poor reliability, very very poor service
Summary: Bought this unit from Home Depot. 13 months later, all of the lights on the front panel started flashing and the ice door started flapping open/shut every 15 seconds. Called Maytag. They knew of the problem and there was a recall. The scheduled service with A&E Service. They couldn't get to me for 10 days. I waited then called A&E to make sure they were still coming. Found out that workorder was marked 'customer pay'. Called maytag back and got them to change to 'warranty covered'. Called A&E as asked if they had parts. They said they could not order parts till they performed diagnostic. Called 5 techs in the area who service Maytag. All of them said 'yep, it's a hv control board guaranteed, we're replacing them like hotcakes -- $400 if you want us to do it'. Called Maytag back and told them what I had found and asked them to send part. The refused stating that the tech had to perform a diagnostic then order the parts. Called techs back and they said that parts order through maytag takes 6-10 business days. Fridge already inoperative for 10 days, can't take another 10-20. Went and bought a mini fridge and a freezer I wanted to have anyway to get me by. Called maytag servie and explained that 5 certified techs all said that they were 100% convinced it was a hv control board and the the internet 'fix it' sites confirm this. I asked if I could give them a credit card to have the board ordered and sent then I would be credited when it was used by the tech. They refused and said I was being difficult and that it would make no sense. Finally, they said that they had to put me on hold and then hung up on me. I tell you, absolutely DO NOT buy a product from Maytag. Dealing with the Maytag man is like a remake of "Weekend at Bernie's". The Maytag man is dead and Maytag will string you out as long as possible until you have no choice but to pay to have warranty work done out of your own pocket. A friend of mine has an LG fridge and loves it.

MAYTAG BLEW IT
Strengths: GREAT STORAGE, SMOOTH ADJUSTABLE SHELVES, NICE FRUIT & VEGGIE DRAWERS, GREAT LOOKS
Weaknesses: DEFECTIVE
Summary: I recently experienced the flashing lights, flapping ice door problem with our frig. I purchased my unit September 20, 2006 from a Maytag Outlet Store and got a 6-year extended warranty. Had no problems until three days ago. Now, freeezer is the only part of frig working. A Maytag technician came out yesterday, but claimed he didn't know we had an extended warranty so he couldn't do repair without claim authorization. I called service company who said it would take 2-3 days to get a claim filed with Maytag, and company would re-schedule repair. I then called Maytag customer service and spoke to Thomas. Since I don't have a contract number for the warranty, Thomas advised me to fax two copies of my receipt showing the purchase of the frig and warranty so they could do some "research", then I should call back in 3 or 4 days.
I spoke with service company today. Apparently, Maytag is processing the claim so they will be sending a service guy out tomorrow to complete the repair. Yeah right, we'll see. In the meantime, I am writing a complaint letter to Maytag about this and requesting reimbursement for all of the food that has spoiled.
I will NEVER purchase another Maytag product. Products are obviously poorly made, and the cutomer service is horrendous. Maytag had a chance to gain so many new customers with this product. Instead, they have turned us off. Not smart on their part. I'm just glad that I at least have the extended warranty to fall back on.

Do not buy this fridge
Strengths: Looks great, layout is good
Weaknesses: No ice crusher, unit has electronic issues
Summary: I bought this refrigerator just over a year ago because it was the only one available with the french door configuration with a water/ice dispensor. I liked the look and the functionality of it. It was my first Maytag purchase and as far as I knew they were a reliable company.
I have not had any problems until today. I awoke to a loud "flapping" sound downstairs. Upon running downstairs, I found that my fridge was "possessed." The ice flap was opening and closing and the lights on the dispenser were flashing.
I thought that maybe I was the only one experiencing this issue so I did some research on the internet. This is not the case. There are numerous customers reporting the same issue as mine, and the service and repair fees appear to be in the hundreds. Maytag has a defective product and appears to not be taking any action in making their customers happy. I have written this review in the hopes of informing potential buyers of the numerous problems that other consumers are having, and as a warning that you most likely will experience the same problems.
I am in the process of writing a letter to Maytag, providing customer quotes from various websites. I hope that Maytag will not ignore this letter and will take appropriate action.

Maytag MFI2568AES - Known control board failure
Strengths: Looks Great
Weaknesses: HV control board failure as well as LV board failure.
Summary: 2008-02-14 10:08:31 This unit worked for 10 weeks only then suffered a complete failure of the control system. This is a fault that Maytag/Whirlpool is aware of and has chosen to ignore. This fridge has been down for 3 weeks and i was told this morning that it will be another 3 weeks before parts will be available. Maytag has no concern what soever as to the delays encountered with these parts. These new Maytag products are not of the same quality we have come to expect over the years but they continue to price them as a premium product. As a last word stay away from any of these Maytag/Whirlpool appliances for you will regret your purchase

Worthless Junk
Strengths: Looks nice
Weaknesses: Reliability
Summary: My Fridge is less than 7 months old. The temperature alarm keeps going off. The compressor will run for 3-4 hours and then the fridge will not restart. Leaving the fridge alone, the temperature will suddenly cool off and all is well until the compressor fails to start again (in 3-4 hours). Three service calls to date. They now want to replace the compressor and control board wih no extention in warranty. They had to order the parts 6 days to get here. I had to purchase another fridge (not a maytag) to keep food goods from spoiling. Lack of compassion or caring by service centers is beyond belief. Stay away from all Maytag appliances

MAYTAG ICE20 FRENCH DOOR BOTTOM FREEZER
Strengths: Looks good
Weaknesses: Way Too Many for Any Refrigerator
Summary: As the previous reviewers, we have experienced the replacement of the ice maker, the "flapping" ice dispenser, replacement of the main motherboard, replacement of the door controller and now the water and ice dispenser features are nonfunctioning. When I bought the refrigerator, we replaced all the appliances in our kitchen so we had a major investment in Maytag. I would NEVER EVER buy another Maytag product.

Summary: This unit is only 8 months old. I had to have the ice maker replaced after the first week and now the display on the front of the unit is completely dead. This latest failure was this morning, July 4th, and as would be expected there are no service companies open. Maytag's whole service program is worthless, you call the dealer and they give you corporate's number, then after waiting on line for about an hour they give you a telephone number to call a local service company. For what I paid for this unit I should be able to call their toll free number, report the problem and they dispatch the local service company. This is the last Maytag appliance that I will ever purchase, I have had similiar service issues with their high end front loading washer and dryers (two control boards and hours on the phone arranging service).

MAYTAG ANTI-QUALITY
Strengths: Looks better than dead.
Weaknesses: Looks are deceiving!
Summary: "Great Commercial quality stuff," HE SAID!(Salesman, I got one myself, he said!) Barely 4 years later (from NEW)...it BROKE DOWN TWICE!! 1st time, everything went WARM WARMER WARMEST...Tech guy did not understand WHY, because after letting it sit switched OFF, it began to work again when turned back on. OH, the cooling "plates/panels" were totally iced up too. OK, EPISODE 2. Compressor got loud, louder LOUDEST! End result one fine morning, TOTAL SILENCE. DEAD! Expert said he'll ONLY consider repairing it at HIS WORKSHOP as they are notoriously problematic and he would not consider doing a repair in the home. If the motor has gone, I am told it will exceed the cost of the fridge to replace. NICE GOING there MAYTAG. May you ALL REST IN PEACE or get out of the game. No wonder we have a GLOBAL MELT DOWN! They shoot Fridges don't they? This is a job for the MYTH BUSTERS! WHY should something that cost over 1000, require repair costs which well exceeds this purchase price when it's barely 4 YEAR OLD!??? My other fridge, a WESTINGHOUSE, over 20 years old, STILL works perfectly and has NEVER been repaired! MAYTAG HATER.

Ice Flapper Flapping

Summary: Was told this is on recall. Had to remove all items from fridge and freezer on a Sat night at midnight. Unplugged unit. Do not buy this refrigerator. I think Maytag is out of business or was bought by Whirlpool.

We were happy til now
Strengths: nice frig, good layout
Weaknesses: dependability
Summary: Today, 1 month short of 2 years, we are bit by the flapping ice door, flashing light problem that i now find out is a known issue with this model but Maytag ignores. I do have extended warranty but dont know how long it will take to get the refrigerator fixed. When you Google your refrigerator model and problem and get multiple hits, it makes you feel like a sucker. I will keep this refrigerator until the warranty runs out then I will be in the market for a new one. THERE IS NO WAY I WILL EVER BUY MAYTAG AGAIN. They know about this problem and dont care enough about their customers to issue a recall and make things right. I will not be a Maytag customer again.
