Strengths: Speed, HD OTA clarity, connections
Weaknesses: blacks, Customer support
Summary: I researched the heck out of TVs, and for the specs and price (tuner included) I thought this LCD was right.

I received this without a manual, so I have been searching the web for one (MFR isn't much help, not a strong English presence) but have managed to get everything working.

I'm running a progressive-scan DVD through component and most movies look great. Didn't get upconverting DVD player because it only works through HDMI which this doesn't have. I would've had to run HDMI-DVI cord; those together cost too much.

Pros:

I love the abundance of connections on the back (except HDMI) I have cable in, dvd in, antenna in, PS2 in, and can easily switch back and forth. If you have a game system, buy the best cables you can afford, that's a lot of pixels to upscale to!

Good remote.

Speakers are nice; have simulated surround sound that will suprise you at first. I looked for speakers behind me! And they're detachable!

8ms is a great spec at this pricepoint. TV has plenty of Zoom modes.

When it comes in perfectly, OTA ture HD looks fabulous. I feel so proud with the quality from this "bargain" LCD. I'm running a Terk TV5 indoor antenna.

Cons:

Black levels are rough in movies like other reviewer stated. Have tried multiple things to correct it.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with what I paid for this, and what I get back in entertainment.

Strengths: Clean, simple design. Easy to set up. Detachable speakers. Good value based on features and price. (9/8/06: prices will probably come down in the months ahead)
Weaknesses: HD channel editing is a little difficult.
Summary: 2007-04-29 19:33:07 The TV looks and performs as well as I expected from my research into different LCD/HD TVs. I haven't used all of the features yet and may add comments later.

This is my first experience with this type of TV, but the picture compares well with my laptop display. The HD picture is great. I have an indoor antenna and can pick up most of the stations in LA that have an HD broadcast.

Regarding channel editing, if I had a better antenna, the auto program might be sufficient, but some I had to enter directly. The add/erase function is a little challenging; two that I wish to delete don't stay deleted, but that may have to do with the way HD channels are set up (ie. 7.1, 7.2 &7.3 all for analog channel 7 and programmed as digital channel 53). I had to do a web search to find the actual channel numbers.

The remote is sufficient. It allows for programming and controlling a few external devices such as a VCR or cable box. Programming is easier with the remote than with the buttons on the top of the cabinet.

The manual seems to have been translated from another language, but is understandable and relatively easy to use.

The sound from the speakers seems high quality.

The TV cabinet and screen get warmer than I expected, but I don't know if that is normal for this type of TV. The manual does recommend allowing space around the cabinet and not setting things on top of it.

Based on 1 day's experience, I would recommend the TV and may consider another one as a gift for a parent.

11/9/06 To get rid of the channels I didn't want, I reset it and entered the digital channels I wanted manually.

04/29/07: The tv is still working fine. The multiple connections have proved useful as I've added a DVD/VHS combo with multiple options. Unfortunately, the TV doesn't seem to be available any longer, so a future or gift model will need to be from a different manufacturer unless Hyundai releases something new.

Strengths: Great value, HD tuner, remote works well, nice PIP options, quality sound, DVI for easy PC hookup, fast pixel response, EPG (similar to DirectTV program guide)
Weaknesses: Hard to get detail out of dark scenes (currently have brightness turned up all the way), few bugs/glitches that may get fixed via firmware update through RS-232.
Summary: There aren't many reviews of this unit out there, so it has slipped under the radar. Wanted a unit with integrated ATSC tuner (all new TVs 25" and larger made after March 1, 2006 now must have the DTV tuner built in, with March 1, 2007 requiring all TVs) and this unit works well for picking up a signal. Can feed a single OTA signal through to get PIP which will do a side by side view, along with varying sizes. Includes freeze frame feature for pausing HD images to gawk at. Remote works well in terms of functionality and response. Speakers sound very good and can be mounted underneath to save space, or detached. It took me several hours to tweak the display settings. Not sure if mine is normal in that sense, may contact support to see if I can access service menu to tweak or if need to send back. There are a few glitches: manually adding/removing channels doesn't seem to work (the auto-program works fine though), aspect ratio doesn't maintain for 4:3 stations when selecting the EPG. It works well as a PC monitor when connecting to DVI (although the DVI connection is somewhat hard to get to), displays a nice image at 1360x768.
