Strengths: Very bright and ultra thin bezel.
Weaknesses: doesn't pivot left and right and no speakers, but I have heard that most LCD speakers aren't that good anyway.
Summary: 2004-09-27 20:03:34 I have used this monitor now for 3 days and its great. I play games on it (UT2004, Doom3, and many more) and very little ghosting if not any noticeable at all. Unlike the previous guy, I have watched movies and its amazing to watch them on this monitor. I would highly recommend it to anyone. This is my first LCD and it was an excellent choice. I had many to choose from but for the price it was hard to beat for the high 250 nit and the 700:1 contrast, even though it has a 25ms responce its is still a great buy.

Strengths: Best Bang for the Buck 19" LCD monitor! Both Analog, and Digital connectors. Long Power Cord. Longer than average monitor cables. Quality picture. Simple controls. Very Bright. Thin bezel.
Weaknesses: Doesn't swivel left/right, only up/down. Sits a little too high off of base, and can't be adjusted. A little tricky to attach cords to the monitor, be patient--you only have to do this once anyway.
Summary: 2005-02-24 01:31:31 [Original Review]

"Manual! We don't need to read no stinkin' Manual!"

(It does come with a manual and drivers, but you won't need to read it, it's that simple to use.)

This monitor has a classic, very professional, and refined look. Its intuitive controls are easily accessible, but not gaudy looking. It's bezel appears darker in person than depicted in the online photo, which I think caught some camera flash. (It looks kind of like Lead, or a little darker.) So if your PC, mouse, and keyboard are black, your monitor WILL look like it belongs.

Remember when shopping for LCD monitors that 19" means viewable area (unlike Cathode Ray Tubes (CRT) monitors, where 19" includes the width of the bezel). So this monitor is very large indeed. Thankfully the front bezel isn't that wide, like on some LCDs so nearly the whole size of this monitor is viewable area.

Would I buy it again?

In a heart beat. BenQ might be a relatively unknown brand for some people. However, I've purchased two different BenQ models now, and both have impressed me when compared to higher-priced and better-known brands.

[ADDENDUM 2005-02-24] For the past few days I have been working on rebuilding a customer's PC, attached to this monitor along with my own PC. In other words, you can connect two PCs to this monitor at once! One PC must connect via D-Sub (analog), and the other must connect via DVI (digital). You can simply use the monitor's Miscellaneous > Input Priority setting to switch between the two PCs. It works like a charm, and without switching cables.

Strengths: Beautiful picture, no bad pixels, aesthetically pleasing charcoal gray color, very slim
Weaknesses: Connections for cables are in awkward place - though once set up this is not a problem
Summary: I love this monitor and would definitely buy BenQ again. This is my first LCD monitor and it has cleared up so much space on my desk. The resolution is fantastic and full motion video plays without smearing at all. I would recommend this to anyone.

Strengths: Great viewing.
Weaknesses: None found so far.
Summary: My first LCD and the viewing is great. I like the placement of the plugs, not easy to use but are out of the way and secure. Beautiful picture solid construction and an unbeatable price in comparing products. I like that you can adjust/swivel the screen and swiel the base. Did some comparing an ultimately choose this one to build my first system.

Strengths: Price, product performance & quality
Weaknesses: No build-in speaker or mic. Poor pre-sale response.
Summary: This is an excellent monitor considering the spec and the price. A comparable name brand monitor with the similar spec will cost you at least $100 more after rebate. I've been extremely happy with it so far.

BTW, don't bother e-mailing Benq with your pre-sale question. They will not respond to your inquiry. Since LCD monitor is such a simple product to setup, I did not wait for their response before making the purchase. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable retailer to purchase this product. If you are not happy with the product, you could always return it for credit.

3 Star ReviewI bought this monitor primarily to get the 20" tub ...
Strengths: Good and bright. Much superior computer viewing compared to the Sony Trinitron right next to it. Good price for the size.
Weaknesses: It doesn't do video at all. Don't expect to veiw your DVD's on this monitor...massive smearing around any movement.
Summary: I bought this monitor primarily to get the 20" tube beast it replaced off my desk and reclaim some lost real estate with it. That was accomplished, and I really enjoy the fast start and brightness of this LCD display. For static images, it's great, but as previously mentioned, if you plan on watching video on it...think again.

Strengths: cosmetics, color, price, price, price, ho and price. It's a 19 inch monitor for $529.00 and is better than the one I bought for $899.00.
Weaknesses: None, but my wife took the money we saved and went shopping. She did'nt buy me anything.
Summary: This is a really good monitor for the money. Take advantage while you can. This monitor has everything my other Sony monitor has with the exception of, the Ben-Q monitor let my wife go shopping. So either way you will get screwed. Buy the Ben-Q and both of you can be happy while spending the money. Oh, send it via express saver. It only took two days to arrive, for $18.00. You cannot beat that.

Strengths: No dead pixels, excellent image
Weaknesses: DVI image no different from analog
Summary: This monitor has an excellent picture, with no dead pixels, base is VERY heavy. Comes with two inputs but I found the DVI output no different from the analog, no worth buying a DVI video card unless you need it for games (I don't).
