3 Star ReviewApple iPod Radio Remote
Strengths: Gives you the luxury of a remote to operate your iPod
Weaknesses: Radio reception not the best
Summary: I love having the remote. I can throw my iPod in my pocket, purse or backpack and not have to take it out to change the volume or fast forward or back track a song. This feature is especially nice when jogging or walking for exercise. The shorter cord on the included earphones is nice to use by itself instead of the one apple included in the iPod box- less cord to get in the way when you use the iPod during exercise sessions.

However, the drawback is the price. $50 is a bit steep for a radio this simplistic. Though the sound isn't bad, it isn't the greatest either and the reception isn't crystal clear on all stations. It certainly does not equal other personal radios in the $50 range (and of course there aren't any features that other $50 personal radios have such as AM, presets, bass boosts, etc.) A $50 personal radio will do a much better job in the area of quality of sound with a variety of settings to improve reception. However, if you feel it is worth $50 to have the luxury of being able to access your iPod controls without having direct access to your iPod and the luxury of listening to the radio when you tire of the songs on your iPod without changing to a different device, this is worth purchasing. (Actually, Apple should include this gadget/feature with their iPod as standard as other MP3 players in the price range do or not charge such a ridiculous amount for it!)

Strengths: Small, light, seamless integration with the iPod. Includes headphones with slightly shorter cable. Has standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Good reception.
Weaknesses: Cumbersome with (still too long) headphone cable and remote cable. Only comes in white. No AM tuner. Only works with nano or iPod 5G. A bit pricey.
Summary: This is a great accessory for those who still like the listen to the radio. Paired with a nano, it is still smaller than most radios, not to mention much more versatile. Good for use at the gym that have different televisions broadcasting sound over FM.

It's still a bit cumbersome with extra wires, though headphones can either be plugged directly to the iPod or to the remote (perfect if you have the Sony EX71 with the really short cord).

Overall a well-designed accessory by Apple that keeps with the iPod's easy to use interface. Just make sure to find the newer ones packaged with the new and improved earbuds (the same ones that come with the newer iPods).

Strengths: Integrated into iPod Interface Doubles as remote Really long cable Includes a short length iPod set of headphone
Weaknesses: Way too expensive Takes some battery away from the iPod life Reception is bad sometimes
Summary: This is probably the best accessory you can buy for the iPod. All other accessories usually have one function. This device allows you to remote control the iPod, listen to radio, save favorite radio frequencies, and best of all allows two people to listen to the iPod at the same time. Just plug one into the remote and other other into the normal headset jack.

But if it was only $15 less it would offset the occasional bad reception.

Strengths: nice clip, small, lightweight, easy to use.
Weaknesses: a little expensive
Summary: 2006-06-06 09:18:46 this remote is very useful. it clips on to jackets or shirts very easily. the reception can be better but its good enough for me to use. It is probably true that this will drain the battery a little more but I am not sure by how much. I use a isee contour nano hard case and this fits fine with it. even though it was a little pricey i think it is worth the money.

Strengths: Compact Provides both the functions of a remote and radio Turns the iPod display into a radio tuner Great reception Able to use any earbuds with the radio, including those with noise reduction
Weaknesses: Cord length a little long, however as the cord acts as an antenna, if it was any shorter the reception may not be so good.
Summary: I am very pleased with my purchase, as I travel a lot, the added storage space necessary to turn my iPod into a radio is minimal, and although I purchased it for the radio function the remote function is useful as well. Also the radio is configurable to work worldwide.

Strengths: Great design, good interface and it really works well.
Weaknesses: The supplied earphones broke quickly and are not great quality.
Summary: If your like me you'll use your own earphones so the weak earphones were no big deal. The radio interface was excellent and it displays well in the iPod screen. I'm using it with a iPod video 60gb. I couldn't be happier with it. I had looked at other units, but I found it best to stay with an Apple product.

Strengths: works well, no interference, works with third party headphones
Weaknesses: no AM band, comes only in white
Summary: I have been using it for a few weeks now and am generally satisfied with its performance. I do miss AM band and another thing that bothers me it's that my iPod Nano is black, but the remote comes only in white. It works well with third party headphones - I use Shure, for example.

2 Star ReviewApple Ipod Radio Remote
Strengths: Quick access to next tune of the track, while put the ipod in your pocket, extention cord for short earbuds
Weaknesses: No LCD display of track play, basic play function, no menu access from remote, sharp hard edgy edge cause irritation to skin
Summary: It would make a complete perfect remote if its interface is identical to ipod scroll wheel, and an LCD screen, softer edge may not cause skin irritation when wears on t-shirt

Strengths: Great design Provide FM function for iPod
Weaknesses: Only White Color No LCD Screen on Remote
Summary: This is a nice toy for my iPod Nano. I really like the add-in FM function comes with the remote, and the design with my iPod is perfect match. I just hope they can have some kind of remote like SONY MD player comes with a LCD screen on it so I don't need to take the whole iPod out to see the channel. Besides, I also hope they can have the Black edition of this remote on the market too.

Strengths: very convenient to have w/ an ipod
Weaknesses: reception, length of cord
Summary: I purchased the apple radio remote a few days ago, and I absolutely love it. Its a great accessory to have w/ your ipod. You can easily change from radio to your downloaded songs. The only con would be that the length of the cord is absurdly long. Other than that, I am definitely happy w/ my purchase.
