Strengths: Low cost and low power consumption, runs very cool for Prescott CPU.
Weaknesses: None for everyday use.
Summary: My previous experiences with Prescott CPUs were that they run like a coal furnace in the middle of the winter. The last 3.0 Ghz I got last year over heated so bad that I had to buy a custom cooler for an extra $20 bucks.

This one was supposed to be cooler due to the 65ns bus. The old one ran at 120 degrees F, and this one runs at 90 degrees.

All cost have come down, but the retail version at $65 was about one half the price I paid before. Great price and economical for everyday use.

Strengths: LGA 775, 2MB Cache, 800FSB
Weaknesses: Single Core
Summary: This is a good product for the price. When set with dual channel memory to fully utilize the 800mhz FSB it is fairly fast. 3GHZ and the 2mb cache helps out quit a bit. This chip is plenty sufficient for most everyday needs. I would recommend the chip for most applications other than high end gaming.

Strengths: powerful processor, multi-threading capability
Weaknesses: overclocking
Summary: I bought the intel P4 631 in a combo deal from Fry's electronics. The motherboad is ECS P4M800Pro V2 with a total cost of $99.98 pre-tax. I'm pretty happy with its performance of video editing comparing to my old P3 from Dell, which ran crazy with the latest norton virus protection software. I tried overclocking but ran into some issue with the RAID-0 configuration of SATA drives. However, this may be the problem of the motherboard, not the processor.

I probably should buy the Pentium D 925 combo instead with $20 more.

Strengths: Very powerful CPU in terms of multitasking. This CPU has EMT64 which enables 64-bit OS such as Windows XP Professional 64-bit.
Weaknesses: The applications designed for 64-bit OS is rather good compared to the x86 of Windows XP Pro, but not all applications work well with Windows XP 64-bit.
Summary: Those who already own a Genuine Product from Windows XP Professional x86, not OEM, I believe can obtain a Windows XP Professional 64-bit from Microsoft for free or a very small amount. If you are a occasional gamer and do a lot of video editing or any apps associated with video editing, this product is perfect.

All the information where based from my system.

Windows XP Professional x86

Intel P4-HT 631 3.0GHz

1GB (Single) DDR2

NVIDIA 7600GT 256MB DDR2 by EVGA

Mobo by Gigabyte GA 8I945PLG - www.gigabyte.com.tw/Pr...

Maxtor SATA

ANTEC Neo HE 550 (550Watts)- www.antec.com/us/produ...

It is important that you use a good PSU (power supply). As I had issues with my configuration with a P4 PSU, which wouldn't boot up with Display.

Strengths: Speed of the processor
Weaknesses: Can't overclock? Doesn't matter to me.
Summary: I recently upgraded to this from a P4 1.8 GHz. It is a world of difference. The easy installation made it worth every penny. No more waiting. You can't go wrong with this processor.

Strengths: cheap, powerful, enough for users such as me.
Weaknesses: with the price, none
Summary: I was looking for a cheap upgrade for a while. This one is cheap and good enough for users such as me. Watch movies, internet, skype, msn, with 4G HP ram and 600G hard drive... I will use this system for a quite a while.:)

Strengths: Fast, good quality
Weaknesses: Supplied fan less than acceptable
Summary: This processor has shown no bottlenecking 99% of the time I’ve used it. Complex graphic editing, rapid fire gaming; all fly through flawlessly and very fast.

Installation was a bit messier than I expected because of the supplied fan; it came with cheap plastic fasteners that had jiggled, unbeknownst to me, during shipping, into the release position. I think Intel could do better with some plain old fashioned metal bolts to lock down the fan instead of cheap plastic toggles.

Strengths: Works fine, what more can I say.
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: Beats the price of dual cores. This does heat up; make sure you are using a case that has the side vent so you can put an additional fan over the stock CPU fan and heatsink.
