Strengths: Pentium D processor, 2.8 Ghz, Lightscribe DVD+-RW drive
Weaknesses: none
Summary: I got this $600 at Officedepot. For that price I cannot complain. It has a lighscribe DVD RW drive. It is a dual core PC running at 2.8Ghz. It has a TV tuner card and also has a FM antenna plug. Overall a great PC

Strengths: Pentium D CPU, 1GB Memory, 250GB HD
Weaknesses: 300W Power Supply, only 128MB Video Card,
Summary: For this price $700, it's a good Media Center Desktop. Maybe, you can get one from Dell with same configuration withen this price range. But IMO, HP is better than Dell. It does have a seperate video card, but the video card memory is only 128MB, which is not enough for latest 3D games. The 300w power supply is a really shortcoming. Because of this, When you are executing several tasks, you can feel the computer becoming slow.

Strengths: Very upgrade friendly, media center, Dual core, SATA HDD, PCI-express slot, did I mention upgrade friendly?
Weaknesses: Media drive bay is useless, software junk that comes with it, wish it had space for 3 HDDs
Summary: 2006-05-22 15:49:02 I also got this computer on clearance at OD. I am glad I bought this. It was one of the best purchases I made. The main thing I like about this is that it is very upgrade friendly. The pre-configured system came with decent specs, but not good enough for me. I was able to add another 1GB RAM (total 2GB), a 250GB SATA(total 500GB), Xi-fi sound card, Antec 500 watts power supply. I also upgraded the x300se to x800, then x850xt platinum edition (this on is a dual slot card, but I was able to fit it in after removing the 56K fax modem that I never use), and now to the X1900 All-in-wonder. The x1900 is 10 inches long(spans ~80% of the case)!! and I was still able to install it. I was really impressed by that.

Fitting the power supply was a little problem because I added an NEC 3540A DVD burner that is about 1 inch longer than the DVD drives it comes with and also because the new PSU had more and thicker wires, but I was able to fit it in eventually.

The useless drive bay slot get's in the way most of the time I open up the slot. I've removed it, but the metal support still remains. The memory is behind this support and you have to take it out if you need to upgrade the RAM. It also creates problem with the extra HDD. You can install it in the bottom of the case but it creates some problems with sata and power cables (you have to route them in front of all the PCI devices).

I wish they had room for another HDD, but I might be able to let the 3rd one hang from the media drive bay by screwing just 2 screws.. lol. I haven't had the need for a 3rd drive yet, so it's not a problem.

The computer came with lots of useless junk just like all other pre-configured comps, but I just uninstalled all of it.

Media center is nice to record tv shows, although I rarely use it.

Overall, great computer. I have no complaints about my purchase. I'm very glad I bought it! :)

3 Star ReviewHP Media Center m7250n Photosmart PC
Strengths: Dual-core pentium. Separate PCI-E VGA card(no integrated video card). 2 firewire ports.
Weaknesses: Motherboard does not support RAID. The idea of Personal media drive bay is not very useful. 300W Power supply.
Summary: I bought this desktop for $600 after mail-in rebate when office depot blows this model out. For the price I paid for it, I have nothing to complain. The dual-core pentium really rocks. It has a separate PCI-E VGA card so that you can upgrade with your high-performance card easily. The capacity of power supply is somewhat limited(300W) and you should consider upgrading this also. Because of the reserved space for the personal media drive bay, you should install an additional drive at the bottom of the case (see the manual). HP should have designed the personal media drive bay so that an internal hard drive can be installed in the case that the user do not want a personal media drive. HP also should have considered supporting RAID.

Strengths: acceptable hardware configuration, easy front panel access, good looking design
Weaknesses: Poor software package, external hard drive not included.
Summary: Good PC, OK Media Center if you can find it at less than $1000. HP should have included a personal media drive and better software configuration if they wanted this PC to be a great value. Too many extras to buy in order to take full advantage of everything this unit has to offer. As a result, the total price on this unit can easily exceed $1700.00 and you may be able to find a better media center for less.

1 Star ReviewWhat can I say it is JUNK
Strengths: Would make a great boat anchor
Weaknesses: NOT compatable with after market software
Summary: I paid $1200.00 for this piece of junk to replace a 4 year old Gateway for video editing. Admittedly I have added an extra internal HD to the Gateway, added RAM,etc. This computer is NOT capable for video editing, the 4 yr old Gateway runs circles around this piece of junk. I took it back to where I bought it in the first 30 days, they kept it for a week and said it was OK, I got it back and it still crashed when editing. I reinstalled Roxio with Roxio's help, still wouldn't work, Roxio said they had never encountered this problem before and were baffled. I called the place where I bought it and said "Send it back to HP," they said we can't the 30 days was up last week, so they took it back for another week and said they couldn't fix it to work with Roxio video editing either and suggested I use the built in soft ware, I said you have to be kidding that program is aimed at Grade School kids and is just a toy, The only way I can make this piece of junk work is to every other week do a "Disaster Recovery" then remove everything that Hp has installed on it that isn't absolutely necessary and then it will limp along for about 2 weeks then it will crash repeatedly, so then I know it is time to "Disaster Recover" it again. I wish I had NEVER heard of HP and this piece of junk computer, as soon as I can afford it I am selling this thing on e-bay for a song just to get rid of it.I continue to use my 4 year old Gateway which is 10 times the computer this thing is. HP is absolutely no help, always promising they can fix it on the phone, never can and then say "I don't understand why it doesn't work". BUT never offer a solution, EXCEPT to say installing other software will void the warranty and I should not install Roxio or my warranty will be void. What a joke. So I tried Adobe Production, even worse won't even successfully down load the digital video without crashing, and forget about editing, can't get that far. This computer is an over priced piece of JUNK!

Strengths: Great Computer
Weaknesses: can't add a backup internal hard drive
Summary: This is a great computer. Easy to set up. Couldn't expect more for such a low price I paid for it. No problems at all except that I can't install a backup hard drive. I bought this machine and put it in my office. I really love it.
