Plantronics M175C - Beware of Volume
Strengths: compact
Weaknesses: Volume is horrible.
Summary: 2007-11-01 14:53:02 I bought this headset and the volume is horrible. It is way too low though my phones volume is maxed out and the thumb dial on the Plantronics cord is maxed out. I spoke with Plantronics and they said it is incompatible with my phone, ATT 982.

Strengths: Its a really good headset. Its one of the few I found that had good volumn control, and a mute button.
Weaknesses: Tends to slip off my head if I move around alot.
Summary: Its a really good headset, I've been through a few. Good volumn control, and easy to throw on and off. Mute button always a plus.

Strengths: 1. Very comfortable in headset mode 2. Mute switch, volume switch, & microphone sensitivity switch are GREAT! 3. Can be used as a traditional headset or over-the-ear; adjusts easily to head size.
Weaknesses: 1. I did not find the over-the-ear configuration to be very comfortable. 2. Over time, the wire connection into the headphone jack on my 1st M175 came loose & caused static/interference.
Summary: I decided a while ago that I should use a headset with my cell phone (both for hands-free comfort, and also to reduce any potentially harmful effects of having a cell phone close to my head for extensive periods of time - it just can't be healthy!). I have tried several different models, and the Plantronics M175 easily outclasses all the others. In fact, this is my second M175. The price is right, and it has a LOT of flexibility & features that allow you to customize your experience (if you talk on the phone a lot, you will find that having the ability to alter the volume and the microphone sensitivity, and having a mute button, is VERY useful!).

Strengths: Crystal clear, no static.
Comfortable on your head for long periods of time!
Weaknesses: None I have found so far.
Summary: I plugged in the headset to my Sony SPP-A2480 Cordless phone, taking a gamble that it would work with it, works great.
I can now do things with both hands. I ask people how it sounds, they didn't even know I was on a headset, they can't tell at all, so that speaks "clearly" (no phun intended) about the product.

Strengths: Flexibility, sound quality, clear voice transmission, and noise suppression microphone.
Weaknesses: Tendency to hook the cord when you leave the phone attached to your belt while walking.
Summary: This unit is great for conference calls where you need to be able to mute the microphone. Even when you don't use the mute, background noise pickup is minimal. A much better solution for hands free use when driving, although nobody uses their cellular when driving right?
This is my 3rd unit in 2 years because I forget that I am wearing it and have to hooked the cord while walking through doorways. I prefer the headband over the earhook.
I highly recommend this model.

Strengths: Great sound quality, very comfortable using the head band, and stays on your ear using the ear clip.
Weaknesses: A little large and heavy.
Summary: Overall, this is the best headset I've tried or owned, and I've tried several. Most of them went back to the store, but I'll keep this one. Using the over-the-head comfiguration, this is by far the best unit for the price. Using the ear mount it's not as nice, but the sound is acceptable and it stays on your ear. The others I've tried either might sound OK or stay on your ear, but not both.

Strengths: Great Price, sounds very good, high quality
Weaknesses: Not the most comfortable in the over-ther-ear mode
Summary: For ~$25 I was expecting an OK quality product with fairly cheap materials, and was pleasantly surprised to find just the opposite. The ear cushion (I guess that's what it is called) used in the headband mode is very comfortable and soft. My only complaint is that it is a little heavy to be used in the over-the-ear mode and does not feel very secure, although I don't think it would easily come off unintentionally. Not a big deal, but could use a little work in that regard. The sound quality is great (on both ends) and the volume and mute button are very nice features. Overall, a great product for the price.

Strengths: excellent in-ear volume and over-head comfort.
Weaknesses: first one started making weird noises after 1 yr. but loved it enough to buy another just now.
Summary: The headband is SO flexible and lightweight, yet keeps the unit in place well. The volume in-ear is fantastic. When my first m175 started making weird sounds, I thought I would save money and buy the m110, and hated it. The headband was very rigid and uncomfortable. And the volume was so low, I strained to hear what people were saying. After 1 week, I gave it away and bought myself another m175 which is great.

Strengths: Good sound, very comfortable, flexible
Weaknesses: No hang-up/answer button, bulky
Summary: I've used this for almost a year and have found it comfortable, very good sounding and does just what it advertises. Some of the better features:
-It has a switch on the plug to adjust the mic to the phone which makes a big difference in how others hear you.
-Volume control is useful
-Very comfortable on the ear
-Choice of over the head or around the ear
I prefer the around the head because the headband supports the weight of the boom. I found the ear hanging a little awkward.
The downsides:
-After a year of (ab)use, the tip of the 2.5mm plug broke off
-After a year, there was some signs of age and wear on the ear piece cushion.
-No button to answer/drop calls (my phone (LG-4400) doesn't support this, anyway.
I couldn't have been that unhappy because when it broke I immediately replaced it with the same model.

Strengths: Flexibility, sound quality
Weaknesses: Appearance, earhook not quite secure
Summary: The sound quality is excellent, conversion between earhook and over-the-head band is very convenient. However, the look is somewhat cheap compared to other Plantronics headphones. Also the earhook does not hold the headphone as secure as I'd like it to be, but that may be a matter of personal preference (I can't use in the ear ones - they fall out all the time). I would say if you use a band, it's excellent, with earhook is only average.

Strengths: Price, quality, versatility, wearing styles and fit.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: Great price! Very versatile; two wearing styles (reversible over the ear or headset). Comfortable fit either way since it is easy to adjust. Works great with both my cell phone and cordless. Good sound quality; controls easy to use. Comprehensive product information on the Plantronics web site. I'd buy it again.

Strengths: muting capability, clear sound
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I purchased this headset after searching for something that had muting capability and good sound quality (which many of the reviews I read said it did). I have not had anyone tell me they can't hear me (which I used to have with my old headset) so this meets my needs. A small frustration is that I find I need to adjust the adjustable headset each time I use it since it doesn't stay fixed in the position that I used it last. I prefer to use the headset which stays in place better than the earhook for me, but the earpiece that attaches to the headset is not as comfortable as my old headset (which unfortunately did not have a mute function). This is a minor issue, and I suppose ends up being a matter of taste. Given the price I paid for this ($22.99 including shipping), I'm very pleased with the purchase overall.
