3 Star ReviewNot a bad noise canceling headphone overall
Strengths: Light wight, easy to carry, fair sound quality for the money
Weaknesses: ear bud is way toooo big
Summary: I bought this headphone from Target for $15. I was hoping to get a daily use fair quality product. Well, for the money I got it.

The design is cool and I like the neck strap. There are plenty of accessories. But I don't think I am very happy with the noise canceling effect. Well, I am new in this business so I don't know how exactly a good noise canceling should be. But over all and for the money I paid, I am quite satisfied with this.

3 Star ReviewA good choice for your money
Strengths: Compactable, portable, good sound quality
Weaknesses: Noise cancelling effect is not so good
Summary: It includes all the accessories, including carrying case, headphone plug. You don't have to buy additional stuffs. The sound quality is quite good, but the noise cancelling seems not very good. I feel not very comfortable for the ear bud. Since I don't use it quite long every time, it is not a big problem.

Generally, considering the quality and price of it, it is a good buy for what you pay.

3 Star ReviewGood enough
Strengths: Portable, volume control, carrying case
Weaknesses: Not very effective noise-cancellation
Summary: It's not as good at noise-cancelling as the normal headphones that cover the ear, but those are bulky and cost a lot more. I needed something more portable. It also goes into your ear, and I'm still trying to get used to that. It's got a lanyard built in so that you can just hang it around your neck, and it has volume control built-in. Oh, and it comes with a carrying case as well!

3 Star ReviewNot bad for the price
Strengths: Small, O.K. sound quality. Good price. Comfortable.
Weaknesses: Not really a noise-cancelling headphones
Summary: Not bad for the price. However, if you really want noise-cancelling headphones, then you need to go somewhere else and pay a little more. For the price, you can't beat these headphones which provide decent sound quality and are small.

Strengths: I think the sound quality is quite good. The earbuds seem to stay in my ear quite well
Weaknesses: The on off switch is a little difficult to work with. I can see that some people will not like the lanyard design
Summary: I got these at Target for less than $15. For that price they are a steal. They sound very good to me. I like the lanyard design for working out. The cords have a nylon casing vs. the usual rubber wires making them less likely to get tangled in knots. Noise cancel feature does appear to simply raise the volume a few decibles, but I have not tried others noise cancel headphones to compare to. Earbuds are comfortable in my ears.

3 Star ReviewSolid Performer for your money
Strengths: Compact design. Active noise canceling. Great battery life. Good sound quality.
Weaknesses: In the ear design is not for everyone. Inefficient drivers loose volume performance.
Summary: First let me clarify that Noise Isolation and Noise Canceling are not the same. Noise Canceling is an active noise elimination that uses sound to block background noise, while Noise Isolation is just like an earplug. While Noise Isolation is good, the active Noise Canceling is much better if done correctly.

I purchased these headphones because I wanted something smaller to carry around then my Bose Quiet Comfort 2's. This headset is one of the few in the ear sets with active noise canceling.

If you are looking for great noise canceling and audio quality, do yourself a favor, and buy the Bose Quiet Comforts. Of all the sets I have tried they are the best I've heard to date.

If you are not looking to spend $299 for a pair a headphones, these will allow for adequate noise canceling and good sound quality.

The first thing when looking at these ear buds is to understand that they go inside the ear canal. If you are not comfortable with things in your ear, don't get these ear buds.

In order for these ear buds to work correctly they must be inserted into the ear canal to block any noise. I initially had some problems with these buds staying in the ear. They would loosen up after a while and not provide full noise canceling. Once I had some practice on putting them in, this did not present any further issues.

The next item I noted is that these headphones require the volume to be set higher. This is due in part to the noise canceling, but I also think it is because the drives are not that efficient. My Bose headphones do not require as much volume for the same sound level.

As to the noise canceling of these buds, I have to say it is fair. When I use them on the airplane, it does a good job of reducing the engine noise and general hum of the plane, but does not eliminate it to the extent of the Bose. This is due in part to the size of the drives. Since the buds are much smaller then the Bose headphones, they just can't put out as much noise canceling.

These buds use a neck strap to hand the battery pack and nose canceling / volume control pack. It is vary nice since you don't have to clip that part to your shirt or jacket. I found the in line volume control to be worthless since I just use the iPod volume control. If they had put a mute button, that would have been much better. The package comes with two sizes of ear buds for better fit. There is also a small carry pouch to keep them in.

In summery, these buds offer fair noise canceling at a fair price. If you are looking for a easy to carry alternative to the more bulky headphones, and don't mind the in the ear design, these buds offer a good option. But don't expect Bose quality noise canceling from them.

Altec Lansing has just released a new active noise canceling ear bud (iM716) that have been receiving good reviews. I have not tried them yet, but they are $175, which is more then 3 times the price of these buds.

Look for these ear buds at Target, or the Discovery store. They frequently go on sale there for around $29. That makes them much more attractive then the regular $49 price.

3 Star ReviewOK for the Price
Strengths: Noise-cancelling feature; Portability and Compact Size; Price
Weaknesses: Inside-ear bud type needs getting used to
Summary: I wanted to have a pair of noise-cancelling headphones but the Bose QuietComfort is a lot more than I would want to spend. So, when I saw this on clearance at Target, I thought it was a deal. I'm pretty happy with it. Sound is clear and crisp. It's portable and I like having the airplane adapter. However, I still have to get used to having the ear buds inside my ear. It's quite uncomfortable at the start. Overall, not bad for the price.

3 Star ReviewNot bad
Strengths: noise cancelling feature; nice accessories
Weaknesses: earbuds too big for me
Summary: Like many people here, I bought this set of earbuds from target at a clearance price. For this price I cannot complain too much. It does do the noise cancelling job. I compared on and off with my TV on. I don't know the mechanism of the noise cancelling, but it seems like when I turn on the function, it raises the volume in the earbuds therefore covers the outside noise.

The major problem I have is these earbuds are too big for my ears. They are not like regular earbuds. They are so long that you have to push them deep into your ears. I am not very comfortable with them.

3 Star ReviewPhilips HN060 Earbuds
Strengths: The cord is well designed, the included bag, airplane plug
Weaknesses: Will not fit to everybody, should provide different size plugs, very little bass, virtually no noise canceling
Summary: Bought recently at Target clearance. Not really a noise canceling earbud, not good if paying full price. Not fit well in the ears. It also creates its own white noise. When the noise cancellation turn on, the source audio sound slightly louder. Volume control is useful. I only recommend these if they fit your ear size.

1 Star ReviewCrap
Strengths: None
Weaknesses: These earphones have thin sound, and the noise canceling feature is awful.
Summary: They sound horrible compared to my $20 Philips HE592's. I'm taking them back. Not worth the $50 price tag. I was hoping that these would have even improved sound over the HE592's. (Which I love)

1 Star ReviewWhat Noise Cancelling?
Strengths: I liked the earphones and they fit ok with me..
Weaknesses: Noise Cancelling? HA!
Summary: Come on, there must be a defect. Because there is no noticeable noise reduction whatsoever. I've notice quite a few complaints in this area. Perhaps many of them just don't work whatsoever.

Also having to dangle the unit is not well thought out. should have put a longer cord so you could clip it to your belt or put in pocket.

Strengths: size, accessories, noise cancelling feature
Weaknesses: neck strap, ear piece
Summary: These things are pretty cool for my first noise cancelling ear buds. It comes with a boat load of accessories like a pouch, stereo adapter, airplane adapter, and a battery. The neck strap is connected with the earbuds itself, and can be a little annoying if not connected with all this extra wire hanging. Otherwise a pretty decent set for the price, enjoy...

2 Star ReviewPoor Ear Bud Pads
Strengths: Noise cancelling, or loudness booster works - laynard to hand the buds around the neck is excellent feature.
Weaknesses: Mayor weakness is the ear pads which eaisly come off, fit poorly and get lost. No replacements available that I found.
Summary: The pads on the ear buds of the HN-060 are pooler designed. They will very quickly begin to come off and get stuck in the ear. You lose one and have to use a different size. Once lost, the product is worthless and can not be used.

Strengths: Firm Fit, Neck design very helpful, Wire that dosen't tangle
Weaknesses: Noise cancellation, Battery needed
Summary: I am one of those kinds of people who buy a headphones based on three things. Sound quality, looks, and comfort. I am 16 years old and cant afford 300 pound headphones so instead i buy 30 pound ones every couple of months to try out different designs. I have tried ipod headphones, fat round ones, bulky ones, stylish ones but the fit has never been good enough that it feels that nothing is it my ear.

So i decided to try these in ear headphones as they seemed like a good idea and had noise cancellation. I read some reviews and decided to try them. When they came i found out that the headphones will not work unless a battery was placed in the controller. I was very delighted and loved the idea of the neck fit, as it made the headphones nice and tight, with a adjustable part to fit any neck size.

I work as a cleaner but am aloud to listen to music so i went to work and found the sound to have no decent base, but after a quick tweak with the EQ (its simple to create a more satisfying bass). i got to work and enjoyed the new snug headphones, and it came to the time where i had to vacuum so i tested out the noise cancellation. I was not suprised to find that i thought the cancellation was so poor it wasent on, but it was. At best the system just makes the music louder, not rebound sounds to create a interference free listen.

I was in fact happy that they stay in the ear when i run, as i do on a often basis, so they were hassle free when it came to that. Lastly they are one of the in ear headphones i have ever tried and they come with different sized ear enhancements, a airplane socket and other items. Lastly when it is quite loud it is extremely hard to hear unless you are pointing the headphone in someones ear so do not worry about people listening to your music on a bus when you are listening to Brittney Spears Ow baby baby.

I would strongly recommend these headphones to people who wish to experience comfort, listen to music without others hearing, but not at all for the noise cancellation, if you are looking for decent noise cancellation you need open ear headphones which start around 70 pounds (for decent ones)
