Strengths: Same front access water filter you buy from whirlpool dot com. Works as promised

Summary: If you forget how to install this (or remove your old filter), just turn the dial counterclockwise (really hard) until it disconnects from your refrigerator. Then remove the plastic dial cover and slide it on to your new water filter. That's it! Although the item is "white" in color, it is still the appropriate product if your refrigerator is black or has the satina finish. Remember, you have to slip on the black cover.

Strengths: Easy installation, genuine replacement, good quality, perfect fit.

Summary: I ordered this Whirlpool #4396508P for my Whirlpool refrigerator. Two cartridges/filters come in one original box. It took less than one minute to change the filter. Dispense and dispose about 1 gallon of water through the water dispenser, water becomes clear (no small black carbon particle noticeable). Recommend this product. I will order it again.

Summary: I would highly recommend this product. The fit and finish are factory, the product is OEM and I had no problem installing it.
Just have a towel handy for the old one since they always seem to drip.. And run a gallon of water through to get rid of any air pockets that might exist.

 Water Filter-- cant beat original Strengths: fits in fridge
Weaknesses: water tastes worse than original cartridge incl with fridge
Summary: I was so happy to find a filter that fit my fridge being that they discontinued the original model number for fridge. Unfortunately, the water coming out of this filter has a plastic--y taste and has a slight odor with it.

Strengths: Filters the water. Tastes great
Weaknesses: Leaks a little bit when you pull it out of the Fridge
Summary: I bought this filter online to replace my old filter for my Kitchen Aid refrigerator as the water filter light had been on for some time. The filter on my model was located on the bottom of the fridge. I unscrewed it and slid it out, put in the new filter, and screwed it back in. Ran about a gallon of water through the new filter and I was up and running. Highly Recommended.

Strengths: Easy installation, True Whirpool replacement part, great filtration.
Weaknesses: Cost, lack of "change now" indicator.
Summary: I have used generic versions of this product and did not get satisfactory results. This filter markedly improves the taste and clarity of my ice and water. It makes a huge flavor difference when enjoying an ice cold drink and fresh coffee. I find it difficult to remember when to change it (until the water just tastes bad.) Writing it on the filter itself is inconvenient as I would have to take the thing out to see the date. The indicator light on my refrigerator is based on time and resets whenever the electricity goes out around here. I am pleased with my filter and would not go back to a generic version just to save a couple of dollars again.

Summary: I finally broke down and replaced the filter on my refrigerator for the first time after owning my refrigerator for almost two years. It was easier than I expected to change the filter. I did not notice a difference in the taste of the water or ice before and after I changed the filter. I will probably wait another two years before changing the filter again.

Strengths: Easy to install, no mess, good fit, genuine article

Summary: My original filter had been in place for two years, so it took a little effort to twist loose. Once out, you must remove the cap from the old filter and slide it onto the new one. Then just slide in the filter and twist in to lock. Although the instructions say to run 2-3 gallons through to flush the new filter, my water was clear after about 3 quarts. Unless you have really bad water, don't fall for the "replace every 6 months" advice. My original filter was still removing the strong chlorine taste our tap water has after two years. I just decided to change it because two years seemed like a long time.

Summary: The filter works perfect. The water tastes as it should and of course now my coffee tastes even better! I highly recommend buying the Whirlpool filter. Be smart buy 2.

Strengths: Very effective in changing chlorine tasting tap water to WONDERFUL tasting clean refreshing water.
Weaknesses: NONE...except the box should say RUN THE WATER FOR 45 seconds or so to get water thru new filter when attached.
Summary: My water filter was way overdue, so this purchase was made for specific reasons. I drink A LOT of tap water thru my whirlpool fridge. I am happy but HOW DO U KNOW WHEN THE FILTER IS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE? i THINK THERE SHOULD BE AN INDICATOR IN THE FILTER SAYING WHEN THE FILTER HAS GONE BAD.
