Not bad for Home Theatre...
Strengths: VERY quiet (near silent in ECO)! Nice color. Fairly bright.
Weaknesses: Typical LCD "Screen-door" effect. Can't match equivalent DLP models for brightness (for daytime viewing).
Summary: I bought this NEC for use as a home video projector. After using SL1U & SL2U Mitsubishi's for three years, I wanted something brighter, quieter, and with better contrast. I planned to buy a DLP, but "Chicken'd out" due to the possible "Rainbow effect" issue. The NEC has the same contrast, but promised to be quieter and 400 lumens brighter. It IS much quieter (near silent), but the difference in brightness level is negligible (the DLP I use at work is sooooo bright). So in summary, it is a nice projector, but suffers from typical LCD restrictions, thus I wish I had gone with a DLP. Live and learn!
