Strengths: Small, easy-to-use menus, convenient and easy-to-use USB connection, good battery life, crystal-clear sound.
Weaknesses: No level control for recording
Summary: I want to tell you how pleased I am with the WS-320M.
I am a music director at my church. I wanted to provide a simple way for our 7 choirs to record music from their services. I said to myself, "if this was the 1980's, I would connect a tape deck to the audio mixer and ask each choir to bring their own cassette." But in this age of digital audio, its all about recording to hard disk or flash media.
So I bought the WS-320M a month ago, and tried recording with a 20-foot cable connecting the RECORD OUT jacks on the mixer to the MIC jack on the WS-320M. I couldn't believe the quality, nor could my fellow choir members. We made CD's from the WMA files and began to use them to critique our performances. The intent is to use this technology as a study tool for check tempo, pitch, and sound balance on instrumentation and vocals.
I want to thank Olympus for providing the means for us to effectively, and inexpensively record and exchange high-quality audio files for something other than pure voice.
I almost forgot ... the WS-320M is a pretty cool MP3 player too!
