3 Star ReviewGreat monitor
Strengths: The Hi Def picture is great. Clean design.
Weaknesses: NTSC leaves alot of artifacts.
Summary: The Magnavox 42MF230A produces a very nice high definition picture but the NTSC feed had allot of artifacts in it and the options to format a 4x3 picture to fit the 16x9 screen we very limited. The remote control is extremely basic and the fact that you have to scroll thru each source is frustrating. To correct these issues I went with a high def directv receiver so that I would no longer have to scroll thru the eight available sources one at a time to see the feed I wanted. My advice is that this TV is good for the price but be sure to use a 3rd party cable or satellite tuner with it. Also, upgrade the remote as soon as you can.

This TV is a good buy if you are adding it to an existing home theater setup as strictly a monitor. The listed features such as the internal ATSC / NTSC tuners and speakers are not very good.

3 Star ReviewGood picture but
Strengths: Picture
Weaknesses: Tuner and speakers
Summary: 2006-04-02 11:21:06 Remember you got it cheap. The picture is great but the sound and tuner sucks. Still I am happy with it, when you consider what you paid for it.The remote is not very responsive, I imagine that has something to do with the tuner

Strengths: Excellent picture, substancial inputs.
Weaknesses: Speakers are inferior.
Summary: I've enjoyed this television from day one. The price was right so i can live with the the few gripes i have. The speakers should have been better quality sounding but i only use the sound through my A/V receiver so i can live with that. Also as others have written, the remote needs to be upgraded. But overall this unit for the right price is a steal. So far the picture quality is amazing in HD.

I have the picture going through a satellite tuner and I'm still blown away.

2 Star ReviewGood when it works
Strengths: Picture
Weaknesses: Sound and Magnavox Support
Summary: Out of the three months I have own it, it has been not working for 1. Don't trust the "on-site" repair either. The repair facility had to pick it up and still has it (3 weeks later).
