Strengths: Makes connecting a MIDI device to a computer easy
Weaknesses: Thin cables, overpriced
Summary: This MIDI interface does the job as advertised allowing you to connect a single MIDI controller or keyboard to the USB port on your computer, thus eliminating the need for a sound card. This device is designed for merely connecting one device so if you are looking on connecting more, it is better to look elsewhere. While this is still the cheapest method of connecting a keyboard to a computer, it is still overpriced for what it is, although no manufacturer sells a device any cheaper than this one.

The device connected to XP SP2 without any difficulty. According to the manual it is is MAC compatible. I was disappointed in the cables. They are standard consumer grade and no thicker than your basic RCA cables. If one were to use this in a stage environment, the cables would not hold up. One nice feature is the MIDI thru function. If you outgrow this simple device, it is still usable as a daisy chain cable.

Strengths: Works well
Weaknesses: Plastic casing a bit flimsy but ok
Summary: I finally got this product to work with my Yamaha PSR275 keyboard and GarageBand (Mac), only because it didnt' register with me til later that I had to plug the MIDI in plug to the MIDI out receptacle on my keyboard and vice versa. I found it for a good price and so far so good.

Strengths: Inexpensive, simple to connect, works as advertised.
Weaknesses: None, yet.
Summary: 2008-03-28 13:43:57 Another good Roland product. The switches are a bit cheap, but work properly. I expected the cables to be more substantial. They are about the gauge of home stereo cables. But, overall, the unit performs as advertised. For the needs I have, it works good.
