Strengths: Price. It's a tall tub, which means there's extra room.
Weaknesses: Not as quiet as I was led to believe it would be
Summary: I've had this dishwasher for about a month. It replaced a Kenmore that I now sorely miss. Don't get me wrong, the Maytag is acceptable, but I would still pick the Kenmore over it.

We didn't want to spend a lot because we're renovating our kitchen in a few years and will get high-end appliances then. We picked Maytag because we thought it would be a dependable product that would last at least 3-4 years.

The very first time we ran it, we found that we had to run it a second time to get the glasses clean. I don't know if maybe it just needs to run a few times to get cleaned out, or if this is a sign of things to come. We've done 5 or 6 loads of dishes so far, and with the exception of the first load, it's performed decently.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I might have attempted to repair the Kenmore before just blindly replacing it. However, if I had to buy a new one all over again at this price point, I would still go with this model.

Strengths: very quiet, plenty of room inside
Weaknesses: none that I've found
Summary: This dishwasher was very easy to install and runs great. The controls are not complicated. The tall tub design (we're replacing a 10 year old dishwasher that didn't have a tall tub) gives lots of room for large dishes. Great product for the money.

Strengths: Looks and features; tall tub.
Weaknesses: Very little room underneath unit for install.
Summary: Once installed unit works fine. I was concerned about quiet so I used the insulation blanket that came with it (skimpy) and in addition put the heavier one off our old Kitchen Aid on also! Used some a/c heavy foam rubber around sides. Unit is VERY quiet now. So far all works very well, it gets dishes very clean too!

2 Star ReviewPoor Quality Door Latch
Strengths: Very quite, cleans and drys well
Weaknesses: Poor quality in door latch and control panel
Summary: In 2007 we puchased this dishwasher to replace our 15 year old Hotpoint. We were looking for better features, less noise and more efficiency. This dishwasher has accomplished all of that very well. The problem is that the door latch from day one has not felt right. After about 2 years the switch broke. The door latch and control panel are made of plastic. We are now looking at about $150 repair if we do it on our own. So much for the Maytag name!

1 Star ReviewCrummy MDBH955AWB
Strengths: Tall tub, looks nice
Weaknesses: everything else
Summary: We purchased this dishwasher in 2007. Had it delivered and installed it ourselves only to find out half the control panel worked. The auto clean button wouldn't work, which was one reason we bought this model. Maytag sent out a repair person and the first thing he said was "you don't need that button." I was furious I just paid $400 for a brand new dishwasher that not all the features worked, ridiculous. Needless to say they ordered a new control panel, which they said would arrive in 7 days, however it was backordered and didn't arrive for months. Here we are two years later and the control panel is acting up, the buttons aren't working properly, and won't light up when pressed. I will never purchase from maytag again.

1 Star ReviewMaytag Dishwasher
Strengths: Quiet, cleans well, dries well
Weaknesses: cheaply built, unreliable
Summary: Started leaking after 6 Months, Electronics/controller board died after 2 years. Cost to repair slightly less than replacement cost.

The Maytag name is no longer associated with quality.

1 Star ReviewMaytag Dishwasher: MDBH955AWB
Strengths: Great wash, quiet, dried dishes well
Weaknesses: Died after one year
Summary: What a joke. The electronics went dead after one year. Of course, the warranty doesn't cover the most expensive part of the washer. After receiving estimates to fix the machine, we've decided we're better off buying a new one than fixing this one. I will never buy a Maytag ever again.

1 Star Reviewok dishwasher
Strengths: nice racks for odd shaped glasses and bowls, quiet, easy to install
Weaknesses: poor cleaning and drying of plastics, smaller interior, rack design
Summary: 2007-08-22 06:22:29 My old dishwasher had the silverware basket on the door so there was extra space inside..this one doesn't. There really is only one way to place the dishes inside. I used to be able to maneuver dishes around to fit more. I cannot load nearly as many dishes as I did in my old whirlpool. My kids still use cups with lids and straws and they don't come out as clean. **I phoned for service on the machine. I was informed by Maytag that my dishwasher was already registered to someone else. Home Depot sold me a used one as brand new. That could be the reason for the poor cleaning. I returned the dishwasher to Home Depot. I purchased a Kenmore from Sears that same day.
