Strengths: 1. Sound quality is good, and it is a 5.1, that is another advantage for less than $20. 2. mic is good. 3. software control is good. 4. shape is nice and it is easy to handle. 5. blue light is cool.
Weaknesses: 1. blue light is too bright. it is cool, but sometime I hope i can turn it off. 2. software gives us a good control but too complex.
Summary: I got this sound card for sc420, I think it is a perfect sound card for just 20$, (now it is 16$ from philips). It looks very cool, blue light, fancy shape. Sound quality is not so good , but not bad for DVDs and games. I like it. It is cheap but it is enough for me.

Strengths: Very Light, Good looking, Not that big as others complained, Good sound too. Cheap price.
Weaknesses: Lack of digital input, software interface not so useful, relatively bunky size, making noise sometimes
Summary: Used this on one of my notebooks with my 7.1 home entertainment center works great. For the price you can't beat it $29.99 shipped from Amazon. It wouldn't make sense to use it on a desktop unless you do not have any extra bays or a real crappy sound card and want an external usb sound processor.

Weaknesses: software interface not that friendly. Size is kind of large!
Summary: This is the first time I have I have bought this kind of card to replace the onboard soundcard. this card gives a surrounding 5.1 sound source at a relatively low cost. The product is USB-powered, and power is not needed any more, which is supposed to be a great advantage.

Strengths: easy to setup / produces pretty good sound / decent price
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: This is a great external sound card. I have no problems with it so far and it was very easy to setup. I’m currently using it with my laptop. Sometimes I have it hooked up to a 4.1 PC speaker setup. Other times I have it connected to a home theater system. It produces great 4.1 and 5.1 sounds (better than the standard laptop stereo). I would recommend this device to anyone needing a cheap external sound card. Bought it at Amazon.com for ~$29.99 shipped.

Strengths: Easy installation, Autodetect of cable connection, Light-weighted, USB-driven - no extra power needed
Weaknesses: Lack of digital input, software interface not so useful, relatively bunky size, making noise sometimes
Summary: This is a first external sound card I have bought, to replace the onboard AC97 soundcard. It brings one a surrounding 5.1 sound source at a relatively low cost. The product is USB-powered, meaning that no AC power is needed. Theoretically, one can carry it together with a laptop, although the size is too big for mobile usage. It has a digital output, but lack of digital input would be a regret for a 5.1 sound card. The sound quality is OK, not much difference from the onboard though.
The most annoying thing is the noise it makes on irrelevant operations, such as dragging a window. May be better on a higher performance pc. (mine is amd sempron 2400+ / 256MB ram)
