Regardless, the Cuisinart design is excellent. The plastic rim and pourer protect the carafe from chipping or breaking, and the spout is well designed and rarely drips when being used. Weaknesses: have to purchase a whole carafe, cannot just get the hardware. Summary: Best coffeemaker I've used in 30 years. handles easily and doesn't drip all over.
