Strengths: It's greatest strength is its small size and profile.
Weaknesses: The display can be difficult to read in the daytime.
Summary: I had the unit operating within 10 minutes of unpacking and calling customer service to activate my account. The remote control is very convenient to use but I found that I have to point the remote directly at the unit and at a close distance to change the channels. The Sirius One unit is very small and sleek. It seems to be put together very well and of excellent quality.

If you want a quality unit but don't want to spend a lot of money than I would recommend the Sirius One.

If you don't want to take up space on your dash or don't want to take apart your dash to install RCA cables then I would recommend the Sirius One.

Strengths: Price, FM transmitter, size
Weaknesses: Readout in daylight, not too much!
Summary: I recommend this product highly, yes it does get hard to read in bright daylight, but you really shouldn't be reading your radio too much, and as such you quickly adapt to a more tactile tuning strategy. :)

I also bought a home kit for a different Sirius radio and now I can plug this bad boy in at home and the transmitter within is so powerful it sends the signal to all of the radio in my house (three floors!) Great stuff!

I'll knock off a star for the bright thing, the single line readout and slight warmth of running, but these things are so small compared to the price!

Strengths: Cheap, strong FM transmitter, small form factor, comes with full car kit, remote
Weaknesses: Cannot read LCD in bright light, runs warmer than I'd like, no home kit
Summary: Nice little intro into the world of Sirius radio. It's very basic and inexpensive. The unit is small and allows you to mount or place in several different spots in your car. You can even mount it upside down and flip the LCD.

The LCD screen is nice but should have been designed so it can be read in sunlight. Seems kind of weird that this thing is designed for the car (doesn't even have a home kit) and you can't read the LCD when the sun is out and shining through your car window. Very odd. And yes, you are able to turn up the brightness and contrast all the way, it helps a little but not nearly enough. I even have it mounted in a darker place in the car and it's still problematic.

One thing I like is the quick channel navigation. It runs through the channels quite fast. Remote is a little weird as it has 10 preset buttons but only 1-5 work on each band.

I mounted this upside down with velcro on the underside of the middle console of the car. The unit's heat caused the Sirius ID sticker to come off the unit thus causing the velcro to come off. Little super glue fixed this issue.

If you want a cheap and easy way to get Sirius now, this will work. You can always upgrade to a newer radio in the future, especially when technology improves. And if you don't like it, you can cancel the service, sell the radio, no big deal since it wasn't too expensive.

3 Star ReviewSirius SV1
Strengths: Compact can go just about anywhere in your car. Low cost, I bought it for $29.99 direct from Sirius.
Weaknesses: Display is not bright enough in bright daylight. Remote control has too narrow of a beam. Can't find a home kit.
Summary: The display is not bright enough in bright daylight. I have it mounted off the windsheild like a radar detector. The remote only works if it is pointed directly right at radio. No wiggle room which you need while driving. I can't seem to find a home kit either.

2 Star ReviewSirius One Radio
Strengths: Variable mounting locations dash/windshield/visor are nice. The radio comes with a remote, which may come in handy when you're not using it in your car.
Weaknesses: The display is terrible, can't see/read in daylight. Somewhat larger and/or bulkier than other Sirius radios.
Summary: I thought I would purchase this radio because it was inexpensive and I have been wanting to try out satellite radio. While I have been impressed with Sirius programming, I cannot say the same for this radio. I wish that I would have spent a few more dollars up front to get a better quality radio.

3 Star ReviewGood Features, Right Price
Strengths: Compact, can be mounted easily in a variety of locations, plug-n-play, price, built-in FM transmitter, remote.
Weaknesses: As others have said, the display is not very bright in daylight. FM transmitter is weak.
Summary: The Sirius One radio is a basic satellite radio unit. I was initially impressed with the amount of features packed into such a low-price unit. I like the fact that the radio is plug-and-play, making it very easy to take it with me when I change vehicles (just make sure that you have an antenna connection in each of your vehicles). Personally, I don't find that the remote is very useful (especially for vehicle use), but it is also a nice addition. The low-visibility of the display doesn't bother me too much because I don't switch stations very often - and they're already stored in the preset buttons. Overall, I think the Sirius One is a good "entry-level" satellite radio unit and the low price makes it attractive.

1 Star ReviewGarbage
Strengths: Small size
Weaknesses: Where do I start?
Summary: Garbage, garbage, GARBAGE. Beware the old adage: you get what you pay for. The FM transmitter is VERY weak, the blue readout is invisible in sunlight, and the controls are very hard to use, especially while driving. I bought this inexpensive unit for my third vehicle because of its small size (I have 2 other Sirius radios), and almost immediately junked it. The only way I can justify the purchase is that I got an extra antenna in the deal. Look elsewhere. A MUCH better cheap small radio is the Xact XTR3, which also comes with a home kit.

Strengths: Small, convenient, & reasonably priced
Weaknesses: remote not very strong
Summary: This receiver is comparable in price and class to the XM Radio Roady 2 Receiver, which I also have. I like the unique design of this receiver, it looks kind of like a radar detector. Its easy plug-and-play operation and reasonable price makes this a basic must have for serious Sirius Satellite Radio enthusiasts!

Strengths: Small and Easy Mounting
Weaknesses: Hard to see screen
Summary: 2006-05-16 10:25:51 I Love this compared to my old receiver, it does not take much to install and isn't an eye soar once mounted... my one problem is that it is really hard to read what the screen says, it is probably where I have it mounted but the lighting isn't very good even adjusted all the way... overall I'm very satisfied with this product and would reccomend and even purchase it again myself!
