2 Star ReviewPhilips DVDR 3305
Strengths: Scart looping can be controlled via remote. OK picture quality. Does both +/- discs
Weaknesses: Remote contol is rubbish. User interface is rubbish. Its reallly unpleasant to use. Slower than VHS
Summary: It's really horrible to use, the onscreen graphics are just MS-Dos style plain text. The remote control is awful, the worst one I've ever had the misfortune of using. It doesn't even have fast forward and rewind buttons. When in editing mode or when zoomed in, you have to press down the prev/next buttons for more then 2 secs. Fast forwarding is very jerky in 4x and above. There is no zoom button, you have to delve through a load of submenus in a 30 button key combo to just get it to zoom in 1.5x!!

The picture quality when recording from composite input has slightly washed out colours due to the contrast or brightness being too high, but it won't let you manually adjust. It doesn't have a 3hr recording mode, so when you are archiving precious VHS, there is too much blocking on the 4hr mode and you end up with 1hr of disc space wasted.

I really don't enjoy using this, its such a pig to operate and I wouldn't reccommend it.
