Strengths: fastest monitor ever, so far no ghosting on quake and warcraft 3, will try out other games later
Weaknesses: the price is too high and the viewing angle should be better for the price.
Summary: If you are looking for a fast monitor and use it for gaming then i would recommend this monitor. The price is high but its better to spend more money once than to buy another monitor after shelling out $150 for a 19" which says its 8ms but shows ghosting.

Otherwise just go for the Dell 1907 and hope you get a Samsung panel :D

Strengths: Bright, crisp colors; very fast response time; no ghosting making it great for gaming! NO DEAD PIXELS!!!!
Weaknesses: Monitor stand only tilts and doesn't rotate; Monitor stand was not properly installed, making one end of the monitor lower, and the other higher off the table. Needed to make some adjustments.
Summary: The price was great! It was going for over $360+ about almost 3 weeks ago, then the price for this monitor, as well as the vx924, went down to $314, the cheapest I've seen compared to all the other sellers!

Not only was the price quite nice, the monitor itself had very vibrant colors and a very fast response time! Was great for gaming, and an awesome rig always deserves an awesome monitor to go with the package! There were even NO dead pixels upon receiving and using my monitor!

Of course, with every deal, there's got to be a negative side, and yes, I have found one very big annoyance. I don't mind the fact that the monitor stand could only tilt and not rotate, since pretty much everyone who has purchased this product has pointed it out already, but the problem I found upon placing my monitor on my table and using it, was that the monitor was NOT PARALLEL to the table it was placed on! The right end of the monitor was higher off the table, and the left end was lower toward the table! I had to *carefully* open up the rear of the monitor stand and remove the screws, adjust the monitor stand placement, and then rescrew the monitor stand back on. Had to do it about 4 times just to get the monitor to stand completely parallel to the table it is on.

After all that work, I guess you could say that this monitor is still worth it since price and performance is a big plus! It would have gotten a perfect score if it were not for the mistakes to which the manufacturer should be blamed for >.< All in all, still a great buy!

Strengths: 1. Beautiful 'architectural' design. 2. Vibrant colors (particularly green). 3. Perfect ergonomics (easy to set up and use). 4. A lot of bang for the buck!
Weaknesses: It only suffers from the traditional drawback associated with an LCD, namely: it will not produce a real black.
Summary: This is a great monitor for anyone who, like me, uses their computer for both work and games. The 2ms response time makes ghosting when playing games a non-issue (I play the latest generation FPS's like Far Cry & Quake 4), and the precision of the display (I am using the DVI-D connection with the native screen resolution of 1280x1024) makes doing CAD (like AutoCAD and Protel) a pleasure! Highly recommended.

Strengths: bright, crisp, high contrast
Weaknesses: stand only tilts, but does not raise or lower. More expensive than other 19" lcds presently.
Summary: At $400, I would only order this if you are looking for the highest quality. It offers the right balance of response time and contrast. The other products I examined trade one or the other. It does not have the configurability, such as rotating display or configurable base, that a professional lcd should have, but if a quality display is all you want, you won't be dissatisfied.

The monitor arrived with the brightness turned all the way up, the colors are breathtaking. I tuned it down to the low end it is still brighter than the CRT it sits next to, though really a CRT is no comparison. The display itself performs better than the vp191s I have at work. At native resolution both 3d and raster (particularly fonts) are crisp. No ghosting at 100 FPS. My father has poor vision, but he can read it easily.

I intend to get another one to replace the remaining CRT, but I will wait for a rebate.

Strengths: Nice body, sharp views, bright color (multiple color mode), low heating, low radiation. Looks very cool.
Weaknesses: lack of adjustment ability. using AC power directly, no adpter. No usb port.
Summary: Somebody said they got problems while using the DVI port, I have never tried, but I think using the VGA port is good enough:) I just bought it yesterday. Very excited>

1 Star ReviewNot all that great
Strengths: The colors are good, it's a very nice design.
Weaknesses: The 170° horizontal, 170° vertical viewing angle on the Viewsonic specs does not live up to it's claim.
Summary: I purchased this monitor for home , because I wanted to use it for gaming and it works well for that purpose. I do think that there are some terrible trade offs here, in that the monitor has horrible viewing angles. If your eyes stray away from looking head in into the monitor, then you are going to see a lot of white fading into brightness. If that doesn't bother you, then this is a good monitor with nice color and fair contrast.

I work in IT, and have purchased hundreds of Viewsonics, Dells, and HP's. In the early days when LCD came out, the common complaint we had from users was the horrible viewing angles. The Dell ultrasharp came up with a solution that solved 75-80% of this problem. The viewsonic VG series we use at work also came up with good solutions to this viewing angle isue.

My theory is that in order to provide the fast 2 ms response time on the VX922 there was some sort of engineering compromise that took place. The VX922 really sets back the viewing angle issue to where we were 4 years ago. In order to prove this, I took my new VX 922 and boxed to work to do a comparison with the Dell ultrasharp 1905. To my surprise and shock, the Dell blew away the Viewsonic in terms of color contrast, viewing angle and all. The Dell wins hands down, and I feel like a fool for having purchased this Viewsonic VX922 for home use.

I called Viewsonic, and I have an RMA to return the VX922 directly to their Walnut California facility. I was given the name of their customer service-quality control manager. I really don't have the time to make my case with Viewsonic, and I don't expect them to do anything for me. In the interest of all of those who are going to purchase these models, I think somebody has to speak up. Hopefully CNET and Tom's hardware will come to the rescue with a review soon.

Keep in mind that the first batch of these rolled out in late November of 2005, so we really don't know if it's an issue that needs to be looked at by Viewsonic engineers. I suspect that I will not be the only one to complain here. My VX922 is just not acceptable which is why I am going to take it directly to Viewsonic and have them look at it, I hope this is only isolated to my monitor.

Strengths: Vibrant colors, clarity, fast response time 2ms, eye-candy.
Weaknesses: Cannot adjust monitor height.
Summary: Received my monitor 2 days ago and have been testing it by using cad tools, gaming, and other graphic intense applications. I love it! I bought this monitor for gaming and mobility and it fits its purpose. I am a college student that like playing FPS (counterstrike source) and now that LCD's like this don't ghost I took the plunge. I see absolutely no ghosting and now if I need to bring my monitor somewhere (LAN party or traveling) I won't break my back in the process! That was my main concern when shopping around for a LCD. I actually own a 11 year old Viewsonic CRT and have had no problems with it. So I am staying loyal to the brand. Highly reccomend this for gamers!

Strengths: color quality responce time low power consumption
Weaknesses: none, that are worthy of writing about
Summary: as with most computer equipment the only "real" challenge is guessing when to buy because of free falling prices

when i bought my monitor in Feb. 399.00 was a good price with free shipping, but now its dropped 70.00 to 329.00 with 10.00 shipping.

overall though its a good monitor (better now that the price is more competative) good color, sharp text, and a quality item

Strengths: Great price, Looks sharp, great for playing games!
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: I bought this monitor based on the recommendation from Toms Hardware and I can see why they love it!

I have tried a couple of games on it and I can say that it performs and looks awesome.

I am very pleased with this monitor and would have no trouble recommending as a must buy!

Strengths: One of the fastest response times in a monitor...it doesn't get much better than this.
Weaknesses: None...I could say price, but you get what you pay for and it's really not that expensive.
Summary: I bought this to replace my old Dell CRT. What a huge difference...it's night and day different. This thing is crystal clear. My old monitor was also a 19", but this is actually a bigger monitor. It's measured differently than the old ones.

I don't watch movies on my pc (that's what the bigscreen TV is for) so I can't comment on how well it displays a DVD...plus you would probably want a widescreen anyway...so I wouldn't buy this for watching movies. However, I do play games a lot on my PC so having the 2 milisecond response time is a huge bonus...it's one of the fastest on the market. Gamers rejoice!

Strengths: very low response time, very bright intense colors, and great customer service from viewsonic.
Weaknesses: Viewing angle (the viewing angle isnt that great but hey... how often do you have 2 or more people looking at a monitor), Difficulty getting colors just right, and a relatively high dot pitch.
Summary: I just recently bought this monitor to use with my macbook and xbox 360 in my dorm room. I have the macbook connected via the dvi port and the xbox via the VGA input. Both have excellent picture quality on it. When useing the xbox 360 i get such stunning video quality that games like GOW, Oblivion, and COD3 look breathtaking. The only trouble that I have run into is that I had difficulty adjusting the colors so that they mimicked that of my macbook (i am still adjusting them). As for ghosting, I see almost none of it when I am playing fast FPS games or watching any movies. But if you go looking for ghosting it can be found, the best way to show this is if you open up a document with text and move it quickly in circles on the monitor you will have difficulty reading the text because of a slight blur on the monitor. Where as if you do that on a decent CRT monitor you will see all of the text perfectly. Overall this is a great monitor. and now that it is down to around $260 why not pay that extra $20-$50 for a great monitor rather than just getting a decent one.

3 Star ReviewNot impressed
Strengths: Cheap. No ghosting. Perhaps its bright.
Weaknesses: This is supposed to be a better class and even newer than my old VG191b. Buttons look cheaper, colors washed out, and 1 dead pixel. Not impressed.
Summary: I guees to get these insane response time numbers they abandoned any and all good sense. It does not appear to be an advance in technology but instead a tradeoff.
