Strengths: Easy to install and configure. I was able to backup a DVD right away.
Weaknesses: I have a ripper version that is no longer supported.
Summary: The product comes with a DVD rescue program- allows salvage of damaged DVDs. The product was easy to install. I was able to back up a DVD right away. The DVD X Copy Platinum is a powerful DVD movie backup program. It adds TDF backup technology to allow complete customization and control over the DVD backup process. Works as advertised.

Summary: this product has served us well. it does what we have expected. since we will be changing many vhs tapes to dvds - we are hoping to use it again and again. it was well worth the cost.

Summary: I have this software for about two months. So far the software never crashes. This software allows to backup DVDs and to repair DVDs. Only wish the software allows to create image file.

Strengths: very easy to install and use, even for the novice
Weaknesses: no instruction manual for the product
Summary: the greatest software i have ever purchased ! it not only allows you to make back up copies of your dvds, but allows you to repair the ones you thought were hopelessly damaged and beyond saving. i realy like the fact that you can finaly remove those obnoxious previews and coming attractions and start the movie directly without all those obsurd menus.

Strengths: good copy
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I don't know if it's my Sony DRU510A DVD burner or the DVD X Copy, if I burn about 10 DVDs only 5 or 6 would work. The rest could not be read. These DVD disc are expenseive, I tried to call support line I was on hold for a long time. I gave up I'll have to try another time.

 this version shipped with the dvd "ripper" require ... Strengths: the only program I am aware of that will allow an owner of commercial DVDs to make backup copies
Weaknesses: difficult and quirky to use, poor documentation and user instructions
Summary: this version shipped with the dvd "ripper" required to make back up copies of encrypted dvd's. The manufacturer (321 Studios) of the software is under a court injunction to remove the "ripper" software from any versions purchased directly from them after February. Some retailers are still selling versions with the "ripper" included. Without this "ripper", most commercial DVDs can not be backed up, so if this is your intended use, make sure the version you are buying actually contains the "ripper" software.
However, even with the ripper software, it takes a lot of "tweaking" of the software and settings to get it to backup various different dvd's. The documentation is very weak, requiring a lot of "trial and error" before getting it to work correctly. There are a great deal of other software packages which interfere with this package, and only by going to 321 Studios Forum on their web page and searching for reasons "why" it doesn't work did I find that Norton Anti-virus and McAfee anti-virus has to be disabled, and any Roxio Direct CD or Drag to Disk applications must be UNINSTALLED completley, as the packet writing software provided by Roxio conflicts with this software!

Summary: So far it works as advertised. It is nice having the option to place all of the video on one disc or to split to multiple disks. Haven't yet had an opportunity to test the select by scene feature.

Strengths: The ease of operation is essentially as advertised. One or two clicks and the software begins to backup your DVD movie. I cannot imagine how any vendor could produce a more straightforward interface.
Weaknesses: The one significant weakness is having to start from scratch if you encounter a clitch. Because of piracy concerns, the software doesn't retain the tempoary copy on your HD if you stop for any reason.
Summary: DVD X Copy has no equal! It's simple and relatively fast. It produces quality as good as the original. With Platinum version, you can even compress onto a single disk without discernable loss of quality. This product is every bit as good as advertised! Get it while you can!

Strengths: Simple to use
Effective
Weaknesses: Pricey for just copy DVDs
Summary: I got Platinum version 4.0.3 (ability to rip) from Vio Software in early April. It's good software for what it does, even allowing compression and deleting chapters. But maybe Nero 6 with a free plug-in to copy movies is a better use of $70.

Strengths: Very easy to use.
Weaknesses: Will not be available in the future.
Summary: This software contains everything you need to copy dvd movies onto your hard drive or directly onto a dvd-r. It's ease of use makes the dvd copying process a breeze. The only downside to this software is that 321 Studios will no longer assist you with any problems you have with the ripper portion of the software.
