Strengths: Looks neat Weaknesses: It does not work Summary: This has to be one of the most frustrating things I have ever had to deal with. PLEASE DO NOT BUY ONE. The drive would either crash my system or would die into the process. I am very savvy with things of this nature and I was about to pull my hair. Strengths: when it FINALLY WORKS, it works Great, you can use DVD shrink and copy just about any DVD, using nero to write Weaknesses: TO MANNY PROBLEMS, go to HP website and look at the troubleshooting area for this product it has an endless list of problems from software not working, to deleting other programs to make it work. Summary: I tried calling HP for help, and there closes help is in Calcutta...they need to improve on that....I have nothing against India, or Indians, but just because they speak the language, they dont understand my problems. 97% of People (35/36) found this review helpful. Strengths: Composite Input Weaknesses: My unit has power up problems..sometimes need to be powered up & down multiple times Summary: Unless you have a USB 2.0 port, this unit takes forever to read & write DVD's. Strengths: Great for burning back up dvd's of movies Weaknesses: Messes up more than its fair share of dvd's Summary: I have had this for about 90 days now and it has burned alot of dvd movie backups for me but not without the occasional coaster. This is my first dvd burner so I have no idea if it is something I am doing or just the movie writer. I am looking forward to trying out the feature that burns dvd's directly from my digital camcorder and also from old vhs tapes.
