Better for laptops than "wired hub" types. Weaknesses: Most devices need the optional power adapter. Not so hot if your on a laptop. Summary: I bought this as a "quick fix" to provide an additional port to my wife's laptop when she broke one of the built-in's after the warranty expired. I like the subcompact design of the unit opposed to the wired variety, however most devices require the optional power adapter to provide the correct voltage (don't go thinking you can plug a mouse AND keyboard in without one) This isn't so hot for roadies, as it is another "cord" to loose or fumble with, but is not the fault of the product. However, they [Belkin] should specify in-depth as to which devices would require additional power or include said cord as most of the wired versions do. 100% of People (1/1) found this review helpful. I can't comment on how well its power supply is for power hungry USB devices because the AC power adapter is sold separately. You may need the AC adapter because, for example, my macintosh keyboard wouldn't work through this hub because its power requirements were too high. (?!?) However it's working fine for some other stuff including a (powered) usb hard drive, (powered) wireless mouse, joystick. 100% of People (1/1) found this review helpful. Strengths: Perfect size for laptop computers easy installation Weaknesses: None Summary: Installation was simple with a basic plug and go process. Works well . No visible degregation of rate of transfer speed. Impressed by small size. Basically, it is just plug and go deal.
