Strengths: Price, reliability, speed, quiet

Summary: I have had this For 3 months now and it hasn't failed once. For the price you can't beat it. I wasn't sure about buying it, but after reading the reviews I gave it a shot.

Strengths: Burns everything from DVD±R to CD±R/RW fast! I have had this drive since November and have been burning like a maniac with NO errors. On top of that, it has dual layer capabilities!
Weaknesses: The Nero software that comes with it has a program called Nero ShowTime. It's a movie viewer that CAN'T play DVD's without downloading a plug-in YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR?!?!
NEC should have gone elsewhere.
Summary: It burns music, data and dvd's nice and fast with no fuss. I have owned other burners, but this one takes the cake. It's cheap and it rocks! You owe it to yourself to buy this drive.

Strengths: Quiet drive. Works flawlesly. No coasters. Nice design. Extremely nice for the money. You can't beat it. Performs better than more expensive models. 16X dvd+r burning, 8X DL burning. Great Drive.
Weaknesses: None whatsoever.
Summary: I used this drive for about a month and it works great. I have had no coasters so far. Just plug and play. Dual layer works great, even though it takes a little longer to burn, but that's because of the increased capacity. It is worth the money. A definite item on this years shopping list, and with dual layer and 16x burning who can complain. Excellent work from NEC.

Summary: This is an awesome drive. i bought a sony DVD burner along with this drive and this is my fav of the two. Just an awesome drive, super fast burns!

 Pain, and more pain. Strengths: Great Capabilities. Great Price.
Weaknesses: Support, Compatability.
Summary: First experience was bad. Burned a CD, and a few DVD's they all appeared to be coasters. Odd behavior in XP Pro. Would not read any DVD type. Game, Movie, burned. RMA time. Got a replacement Drive. Same thing. Put the baby in my Macintosh and it runs like a champ. Searching the net i found a Firmware update 1.06 and it flashed fine. No changes. Found discussion forums that shows i'm not alone in my sorrows. At least i was lucky enuf to be able to use the drive in the mac. For the PC. I think XP's Drivers or OS is not working. This drive seems to work for some machines, but not all from what i've seen on forums. It's a dice roll.

Summary: This is a great drive. I also have its older brother the 3500a which also works great. I have burt about 50 DL disks in this so far as well as countless DVD-R's with no coasters!

Summary: I have been using this device for a week .I have ripped and burnt several dvds with it.I had no problems with coasters and process is very fast.Installation into my pc was a snap.

Summary: Installed it and was using it within minutes. Mine shipped with Nero software that was easy to install and use. This drive seems to be quick, quiet, and so far very reliable.

Strengths: Replaced my NEC 2510 w/ latest 3550a from newegg for only $43 dlv'd to my door in 3 days. That is almost as fast as the drive. Quiet. Reads everything.
Weaknesses: none that have been found so far
Summary: After going through the generic dvd burners, I decided that quality would save me the aggravation and $$$ and time in the long run. SO, I bought my first dvd burner a coule of years ago and am sold on them.
Highly recommend

Strengths: Very fast. Dual layer. Inexpensive
Weaknesses: I'll let you find one. I can't.
Summary: NEC best yet. This is a very fast drive. I have burned 8X dvds in 8:00. Haven't tried 16X yet. Rips very fast. Mine got up to 12X although it says it can get to 16X. Very easy to install. Can't beat the price. Under $40.

Summary: You cannot go wrong with NEC. i have found nothing wrong with this burner, or any nec dvd burner that i own. i always have compatibility and my dvds burn at the right speed. Im very happy with this product

 Price was great.Performs very well Strengths: This DVD+-RW has worked FANTASTIC! I have not had any problems burning onto any brand of DVD media. Fast and quite efficient. Also, received the drive pretty fast. Thanks newegg!...
Weaknesses: None that I can think of
Summary: I burn slower than the drive/media will allow me to becuase I would rather it take 3 minutes longer and be sure to get a quality burn. So all of mine have turned out great!!

Strengths: Inexpensive
Fast
Weaknesses: Dual Layer media is still very expensive
Summary: We replaced our old 4X burner with this one and we love it. It took us 2 mins to plug it in and it worked first time. Back-ups are now so much faster. You cannot beat the price of this one.

Awesome External DVD Burner
Strengths: Good speed, max-16x.. will get cheaper blank DVD's for ths same. Double layer. Awesome price
Weaknesses: haven't come accross one yet
Summary: A must buy for begginers looking for a good deal. you may need ahead nero or some time of burner along to have good quality. best suited for home video burning.

Strengths: A real multi-tasker drive at a great price, doesn't task the processor at speed. Simple styling and compact package.
Weaknesses: Compared to my other drive, an LG 4167, makes more noise and fails the Nero test drive test on scratched CD's that the LG passed. It failed at about 32X and above.
Summary: This drive works fine with new media, so will combine the talents of both drives. Haven't tested the faster DVD DL disks yet, but works without a hitch with Nero in copying movies with the 2.4X disks.
