Strengths: Large, stainless steel carafe that keeps coffee hot longer than glass thermal carafes; programmable; shuts off automatically when brewing cycle complete; cone-shaped filter basket.
Weaknesses: No way to turn off loud beep when it's done brewing--not good if you're making coffee when someone else in the house is asleep. Water level numbers hard to read.
Summary: This elegant looking drip coffee maker brews coffee at the appropriate temperature and keeps it hot in the stainless carafe. I love the large 60 oz. capacity of the steel carafe, biggest I've seen, and I've researched it. And unlike many of the thermal carafes, you don't have to turn the thing practically upside down to get the coffee out. Another thing I like, while it makes the coffee, it doesn't leak steam like others I've owned, so I feel comfortable leaving it under my wooden cabinet while it brews. It's kind of tall, though, so I have to bring it out to put the water in the top. The only things I'd change would be 1) make the water level numbers easier to read--just need a more contrasty display, and it would be nice to move the level indicator toward the front; 2) have a way to turn off or down the loud beeps when it finishes brewing; I like the notice it's done, just too loud; 3) increase the volume of the stream of coffee when you pour it, because it takes a longer while to pour a cup than I'd like. However, that may be to protect the temperature inside the carafe, which more important! All in all, I'm very happy with it and would purchase it again. If you want a good-sized drip maker with a carafe that keeps coffee drinkable for a long while, this is what I'd recommend you get. Oh, one thing to keep in mind, it's a little taller than many drip makers, so make sure you've got clearance under your kitchen cabinets for it. I had no problem with that, though.
