Strengths: compact, minimal buttons
Weaknesses: instruction book could be better, must charge through usb port
Summary: The design is very nice and compact, yet it is still easy to handle even when exercising. Uploading songs is quick and painless and the voice recording is pretty good.

The only major problem I have is the fact that you must charge it through your computer. This may be a problem if you use your mp3 player and it runs out of batteries without a computer nearby.

Overall, I think this product is worth the price.

Strengths: More stuff that you will know what to do with, great 256k color TFT screen for animations and photos, nice 5-way navigational pad that glows when you press it. Great/loud 3D sound with 7band EQ.
Weaknesses: They say it has a short battery life, but it has been quite sufficient for my use. No automatic album art. Small screen. Only fit 200 songs at 192 bitrate.
Summary: -Player has a quality surface that doesn't easily scratch like the Nano. You can use it for Napster and other subscription services. Good storage capacity for the price.

-This player is the upgrade from the other 1gb model but very similar. Firmware is upgradable from the Samsung website, but they haven't made any noticable changes.

-The menus are very vibrant and creative. There are lots of options including FM radio and recording from nearly any source.

-256k color screen is awesome like my Verizon 9800 cell phone. Great for viewing pictures but quite small.

-You can find songs by name/artist/album/genre just like nano, which is awesome. Very easy to use and understand every aspect of this player. Well done samsung.

-Also Best Buy is currently offering a P Gift card @ time of purchase. They are selling it for a little more though (of course) @ $179.

Hope this helps... it definately has my recommendation.

Strengths: Small, good sound, easy to use, durable, FM radio with voice and radio recorder, upgradeable software
Weaknesses: Can't make playists witout using a computer, no accesories available
Summary: This is a great MP3 player. The overall quality is very nice. The color screen is very clear, but not great for viewing photos because it is very small. Navigation is simple, the user options are great, and it has awesome sound. For anybody looking for a 1GB MP3 player, this is a great choice. Although there are no accesories available, the only one you would need with this is some sort of arm band or belt clip.

Overall, I would buy this again, and as long as I can stay with only 1GB of memory, I don't think I will have to buy another MP3 player for a while, since this one has upgradeable software

Strengths: This mp3 player is so small and lightweight that it will make an iPod Shuffle look like a laptop! The screen is crystal clear and the device is a delight to navigate.
Weaknesses: Unfortunately not mac compatible.
Summary: Battery life is much better than expected and the buttons require enough pressure that they won't initiate use in your pocket. The earbuds are as good as can be expected for the price and the USB port has a cover to keep it clean. Also, this little miracle machine fits perfectly in the "fifth pocket" of your jeans so you can take it anywhere. While it does have a shuffle feature, with this Samsung YP-T712 you can control what you listen to instead of having to cross your fingers to hear your favorites. My only regret is that they haven't made a four gig version. This is the only MP3 player I've seen that could ever compete with Apple's dominant iPod line.

Strengths: No batteries required, very long life with USB recharging Screen crystal clear, menu easy to read/use General ease of use, great sound
Weaknesses: Ear buds that come with unit are lame Unit needs sync-ing to download music and pics -- can't drag and drop
Summary: Great unit! A lot smaller than anticipated but screen is so clear that was not an issue. Nice, sleek look and slim design. Easy to use, menu items keep downloads organized.

Great equalizer and sound quality.

Strengths: Small, nice looking.
Weaknesses: Music organization.
Summary: Wish that I could seperate music into different folders. Right now they're all just thrown together and it makes it tough to listen to just one person or album without having to go back through all my MP3s and changing the tag info on all of them. That's a pain in the butt.

Strengths: Great size, beautiful display, easy navigation.
Weaknesses: No AC charger (only charges through USB), does not come with any type of case, low quality ear buds.
Summary: I have been looking for a replacement for my Rio S10 MP3 player for a few weeks. I came upon the review for this little gem of an MP3 player on CNET.com and decided to give it a try. I mainly use my MP3 players for active sports and because of that I was looking for specific criteria in my player. I wanted to make sure my player was:

-flash memory based (no hard drives to skip)

-small and lightweight

-large enough memory for a few hours of music

-durable and easy to use

This player is everything I wanted and more. The screen really looks nice and you can customize just about everything. The 1 GB of storage is more than enough for me and my songs are easily swapped out on Windows Media Player. I was not looking for a mass storage device as I have no problem sitting down for a few minutes and changing out my music.

I purchased a protective case with a nice clip on it for getting it on my waistband or belt and out of my pocket. I figured it would stay nicer longer this way than bouncing around in my pocket. I wish it came with a higher quality set of ear buds, but I know I can buy a better pair if I so choose.

The music quality is great at the 128 bit rate, but if you want even better quality than just increase the bit rate. You will sacrifice some storage though.

All in all this has been a great player and I would buy it again even with all the choices on the market right now.

Say NO! to IPod!

2 Star ReviewThe battery dies every 15 minutes
Strengths: it looks cool and works good
Weaknesses: except the battery dies every 15-20 minutes which is very inconvenient if yuor away from a computer(which is how you cahrge it)
Summary: i was happy to receive the present but i was bummed out to find that it couldnt last me a whole trip across town and back. It couldnt hold very many songs either... but besides that it is nice...just frustrating!

1 Star ReviewBought it, Got it, and Returned it!
Strengths: Vibrant screen that supports video although small and compact.
Weaknesses: The navigation buttons are too small for someone like me who has big hands. -_-^
Summary: I returned my parcel a few days after I received it.

For some reason, the player wouldn't be recognized by

Windows Media Player 10 (which you transfer files with).

The USB cord that came with the package was faulty (didn't

work at all).

Just regretted that I bought YP-T7JZ.

I don't know how this player served others but for me, it

was junk.

One of the reasons I bought it was of patriotism. Since

I'm a Korean American and Samsung is a Korean company

I only thought it will be good. (they make good cell-phones though. ^^)

Any ways, it didn't serve me good at all. Sorry.

Strengths: super sound, lightweight, VERY cute design, intuitive system
Weaknesses: shorter battery life (still not too bad - 10 hours), ohoto-viewing options a little silly because of size, but still good quality
Summary: This is a wonderful MP3 player - I love the cute design and the simplicity of the menus and it's built like a tank. I jog with it all of the time because it's so lightweight. Amazing value.
