Weaknesses: No video indoors or when light is not perfect. Flash causes overexposure on still pics. Slow. Poor image quality. Useless. Summary: This is a good idea, but the finished product is not ready for prime-time... First on the video side of things, video quality is low resolution & low frame rate. You can only shoot videos in absolutely perfect lighting conditions. So forget shooting anything usable indoors, because it is not possible. There are some camera settings for light type & levels, but the difference when using these settings is undetectable. My digital camera takes much, much better video, so I know I'm not being too harsh on this camera. As for the digital camera side of things, the camera is the worst I've seen. Again, perfect light is an absolute neccessity. All of the flash pictures that I've taken come out with terrible color. Even in the best light, pictures are low quality with poor color. Many of the flash pictures come out overexposed. The speed of this camera is another real issue. It takes forever between pictures & videos. I find myself pushing on the button frequently with nothing happening. Forget about any action shots. I bought this on special so it was inexpensive, but this camera is just frustrating. Watch out for Gateway's customer service, they won't take this paperweight back after 15 days, even if it was a gift. It's been two months and I still have not received the form to claim the $100 rebate (I've called 3-times). Once I get the form, they claim it will be another 6-8 weeks (Probably more). Strengths: cute style, 64MB internal memory Weaknesses: WORST picture quality ever seen, slow shutter, zoom only work on video, battery hungry Summary: This product is basically a 2 MP digital camera with camcorder-like style. It may have a few good points, but it lacks the most important element you look for in a camera: quality pictures. Its video is blur and has severe color-shifting problem. The still images taken by it are the worst I've ever seen -- out of focus, no clarity, stranage colors. The shutter is so slow that you can't get anything at right moment. Its flash washes out the objects most of the time. It can be an expensive toy (Gateway won't take it back after 14 days). As camera goes, it is a piece of junk. Strengths: Great size - versitile menus - excellent flash Weaknesses: Poor video quality - color shifts - almost too small Summary: Buy this camera ONLY if you already have a DV camera for recording those really important moments in life. This is a great camera to carry in your briefcase for 'emergency' moments - a still that you have to have or video that you can easily upload via the web. It's better than a toy but should be considered an early attempt at a new technology. If you do not expect more than you paid then it's funny and be a good toy for you. Strengths: it is very small,light and I can take it everywhere.it's easy when you start shooting. Weaknesses: Poor vidieo quality. Not best mic. or speaker. almost too small to use well. Battery hog. Summary: This camcorder is fun to use and is great for begniners. This is not the camera for you if you are serious with your vidieos or photos. For how cheap it is, its a fairly good deal. I recomend buying rechardeale batteries for it as well. This thing eats up full Batt. in an hour. Cool brushed aluminunm look. It only records 5-18 min. worth of video depending on quality setting. perfect for travel and use with laptop.
