Strengths: Pure, high fidelity sound, be able to play mp3 off network
Weaknesses: no dvi or hmdi port like some other high-end a/v receivers
Summary: This is definitely the best a/v receiver I have. Moive with Dolby Digitial 5.1 or 5.1 EX automatically convert to THX-EX matrix. Sounds great. Of course You can disable it if you want. DTS Neo6 matrix also perform extremely well. NetTune needs a lot of improvement. I use this receiver to play music channels through digital cable, so I don't really care about the nettune feature. But Onkyo's software still have some rooms to imporve. Other than that, TX-NR801 is a must have Hi-Fi A/V receiver under $1000.

Strengths: Awesome Home Theater Surround sound. Great Remote. Tons of Features.
Weaknesses: Remote does not yet work with my HD Satellite receiver and could not learn the buttons. Slightly difficult to setup.
Summary: Fantastic home theater system with booming power through my JBL speakers. I upgraded my subwoofer and it made a world of difference. I have not connected the NetTunes yet but look forward to get that functional. The stereo is very strong and clean. Connection was straight forward but setup menus were a little unclear to get sound. Very happy with this product... Onkyo is the Best!

Strengths: Lots of options, THX, and 7.1 configuration
Weaknesses: Manual
Summary: This receiver is wonderful. Rated by Consumer guide number one, well it was the NR701 but I wanted the 7.1 configuration for future use. I'm currently running Polk Audio RM7600 and the system works great. Love those action movies. The only thing I'm having a problem is getting the Dolby Digital to work...I've seen it displayed on the screen when its in Doby Digital. Mine is not visible for some reason. I'm not sure how to make it apper and the manual is not the best out there.
