Description: Playing MP3s from your PC through your sound system is an often unsatisfying experience. Sometimes, a device requires you to use your PC to choose music; more often, instead of managing tracks on your computer's monitor, you do it on the TV.... Read More

Strengths: (1) Very cool song selection/navigation with remote (2) Easy access to your MP3 collection from your home audio system
Weaknesses: (1) Unstable 802.11b wireless connection (if any distance away from access point) (2) No 802.11g support (3) No WPA encryption support (4) Server software does not run on Windows 2003 server
Summary: First I should say that the remote control interface is very cool, totally intuitive, and easy to use. I have been looking for a product like this for quite some time and purchased it without finding a lot of user comments. Setup is very easy ONLY if you have a totally unsecured wireless network which I think is CRAZY thing to do unless you live on a 200 acre farm somewhere.

My biggest gripe with this unit revolves entirely around the wireless interface. Lack of current security protocols and poor reliablity sums up the weeknesses. My access point is in a central locaion in the house, with only one interior wall between it and the Wireless Music receiver. I got it to work for about 3 songs before the connection was lost. Maybe this can be improved if I play around with the positioning of the access point and the receiver (but it looks like they will need be in the same room).

I really wish this unit had an option to plug directly into my home network and bypass the wireless interface - I hate to expose my home network to the neighborhood with only WEP security - I live in a fairly tech-savvy area and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to start hacking into your home network (gotta watch for guys with laptops parked in my driveway late at night ;-)

Everything but the "server" part of the Wireless Music software runs on my server operating system (Windows 2003 Server). No big surprise here. I guess not too many home users are running server software, but still a bit of a disappointment and a lot of extra work for me. I still made it work by running Windows XP within a "Virtual PC" session on my server.

The receiver seems to run a little on the hot side - hopefully it is designed for it (or maybe I have a defective unit - dunno yet).

To sum it up, I would say this is a very cool idea that could use some improvements - hopefully some of them will be addressed in firmware updates so I don't have to buy it all over again.

Strengths: -Ease of setup -Cool LCD screen on remote to navigate files -RF remote can be used virtually anywhere
Weaknesses: -Lag time between songs(about 1 sec or 2) -Sometimes RF remote unresponsive even if close by -No RCA cables included -No ability to hookup TV to see video files or images
Summary: The Soundblaster wireless music is pretty decent if you just only want to play your mp3 files on your home audio system. Its pretty easy to setup and use. You just install the software on your host pc and follow the directions to find your wireless network and that's it. You can be up and running in 10 minutes. The biggest draw for me was the LCD remote, which has its pluses and negatives but its great to use to go through your music library and not be in the same room. You can be out in your backyard and select songs to play. The only complaint I have about the remote is that in some rooms it will not work. The other drawbacks to this unit is the delay between songs which is about 1 or so seconds and also no support for images or video files. All in all, I think its a pretty good player if you just want to stream music to your audio system. Great at parties!

Strengths: Grrreat remote and this compact system delivers exactly what is advertized.
Weaknesses: Would have been nice to also have streaming audio.
Summary: I am very pleased with this system. The remote gives me access to my entire collection of CDs which I have on my hard drive. This is the second system I have tried and it performs great. Backlighting the remote is a touch of class that makes it much easier to use. The only thing I would have liked to see would have been the ability to broadcast streaming audio to my stereo system.

1 Star ReviewDo not buy Soundblaster Wireless
Strengths: Easy to install
Weaknesses: Poor sound quality and very poor support
Summary: I connected the Soundblaster to my wireless network with no real problem. The quality of sound it produced was terrible...constant static, a deep base added, and an incredible humming. I searched their knowledgebase for support and could find nothing about static or humming. The only problems I could find dealt with getting the network connection working. When I contacted customer support I was told I could purchase a tutorial session for $13. I don't need a tutorial to know that this product does not work! Do not make my mistake and buy it!

Strengths: Good sound quality, easy set up
Weaknesses: Average range
Summary: I just followed the instructions, and then I was up and running. At the beginning I just did not understand why I was getting such lousy reception with this. But I realized that rnage of this device is only average. I am getting a radius of about only 15 feet good coverage.

Sound quality is excellent. No drops. No distortion. Best of all I can stand at my PC to select music and without crawling into my wiring closet.

Overall I recommend this device if range is not important to you.

Strengths: Great sound quality
Weaknesses: Limited range
Summary: First of all it is very easy to set up the system. RF remote with LCD is very useful hooked up the sound blaster to my Onkyo receiver via analog cable. The sound was impressive playing mp3.

Range of the unit is disappointing. It definitely needs improvement. If you plan to use a high end stereo receiver, or powered speakers, this is a great product. Otherwise you should look for another brand or wait for the improved version.

Strengths: Cool remote with LCD interface. Ease to setup. Great product at a reasonable price.
Weaknesses: Issue with connecting to my wireless G network.
Summary: 2006-06-10 00:03:05 In the beginning, I had some compatibility issues with my wireless router when configuring the device but after a minor inconvenience on the set up, this unit works flawlessly. The smart playlist feature is very cool. Sound quality is outstanding, the LCD remote is clear and easy to read and simple to navigate through. In my opinion this is a great product.
