Strengths: Great clarity and warmth for a 2-way speaker that is so small!. Nice bi-amp inputs.
Weaknesses: Obviously a little light on bass, but what do you expect for this kind of speaker
Summary: Replaced front channel speakers - Pioneer 3-way 150watt speakers. The pioneers had a 10-inch woofer, so more bass then these. But I mainly use the system for 5.1 surround (for movies/HD TV), so towers were no longer needed.

I played them side by side and they sounded much better. I have tested them w/both stereo sound (music), 5.1 Dolby Digital surround, and DTS sound. Winner all the way. With kids in the house, I no longer have the fear of a giant tower crashing down on them.

Speakers seem very responsive at low volume levels and low frequencies. They were rated slightly worse in terms of these characteristics than the Pioneers, yet, I could NOT discern this. They can handle quite a bit before they start to breakup and distort.

One comment, if you are looking at the Polk M series at Circuit City (for example)... You are better off ordering these online if you can get a deal for no tax and no shipping (like I did) superior speakers for only about $25 more

Strengths: Good size. Not too big, not too wimpy. Delivers wonderful warm room filling sound at all levels. Blues, Rock, Electronic, even classical. No complaints
Weaknesses: Sound wise no weaknesses. Do they really expect you to use the 2 supplied drywall screws when one wishes to mount these to a wall? Sure mount $400 speakers with 1 drywall screw! Wankers!!
Summary: 2007-03-16 18:09:10 I ordered the cherry veneer model from Crutchfield.com for $379.99 w/ free shipping, on Saturday, they were at my door Tuesday afternoon. Fabric grills could get an upgrade for a speaker at the this price point. Most higher end models furnish something in metal. It would be nice on these since they are the higher of the midrange as far as quality and $$$. The veneer is nice to look at, and the wire connectors are quite substantial.

Off the subject of speakers, why is Pricegrabber's website so slow _ALL THE TIME_ it has taken me half the day to write this review. Well worth the $5!

Strengths: Awesome sound; heavy/sturdy; wall-mountable
Weaknesses: Pretty big for bookshelf speakers!
Summary: I was looking for great sounding speakers for a dedicated home-theater room, but wanted a clean look without tower speakers. The room was relatively small (13x13), so big speakers weren't really necessary. They needed to handle 120 watts, which these speakers do in spades. Even though the dimensions are specified in the on-line listings, they were bigger and heavier in person! So if you are looking for small/compact speakers, sook elsewhere! I also got a matching CSi5 center channel, and the set sound great for both music and movies. They do include wall-mounting hardware, if that is your need. For me, they were going to sit inside a custom wall unit, behind some screens. As a result, it might have been nice had they included some rubber pads to help with vibration on the cabinet/table that they sit on.

Polk provides a 5-year warranty, but the fine print claims that the speakers must be purchased from an authorized retailer. This means you pretty much have to pay full retail to get the warranty. What is to go wrong with speakers anyways? So it might be worth the gamble to save the money and pay less than full-retail.
