Strengths: All-in-one unit - copier/printer/fax/scanner
Weaknesses: manual duplex, proprietary memory
Summary: I've been using a Tektronix color laser for a few years and this unit shows the maturity of color these days. The quality and speed is great. The all-in-one, especially the ability to scan to PDF, is great.

My only issue with it is the manual duplex with no accessory to do automatic duplex. However, no comparable units (HP, Brother, Canon, etc.) had an automatic option either, so... The driver helps you with with doing duplex to some extent so that helps.

The standard input paper tray is small, but this is a SOHO unit and you can get an optional second tray.

The scanner is a flatbed with ADF so you scan books or multiple pages, which is a must. It comes out of powersave quickly, prints quickly and scans quickly.

The unit comes with adequate memory but I like to max it out. Unfortunately the memory is proprietary and outrageously expensive so I guess I won't be doing that anytime soon.

The onboard controls are relatively intuitive but it doesn't look like I can control all the features via it's web interface (specifically fax features such as disabling answer).

Strengths: beautiful quality printouts and copies,
Weaknesses: very heavy
Summary: I was tired of buying all those ink cartridges and am hoping that the toner will prove to be less expensive per page. I found this printer easy, although time consuming to set up. It works on our wireless network without a hitch, all four of our computers can print to it. The print quality is excellent, and it is fast. I have noticed that the toner monitor is already showing some use and I was expecting the toner to last MUCH longer than inkjet cartridges. I hope it is just a software problem.

Strengths: TRUE network capable scanning, Ease of setup, Ease of use
Weaknesses: None that I've found - other than you should by extra toner with the unit, as what comes with it is not a full load, and you can't fax via network.
Summary: The Epson AccuLaser CX11NF is a great piece of equipment, It allows network scanning, printing, copying and faxing. As the other reviews stated, its HEAVY (74lbs) but I had no trouble installing the toner, as others had, by following the directions and taking it slow. I also didn't experience any technical difficulties in setting the unit up on my home network. I've been very impressed so far and I think its a much better bargin than comparable HP's or other multifunction color lasers considering it does 2400x2400, comes standard with 128mb ram, and faxing capabilities. The supplies are also about $10.00ea cheaper than other comparable units. Best $499.00 (from comp-usa) I've spent.

3 Star ReviewNot wrong - just different
Strengths: Speed, functions & price. Good value.
Weaknesses: Have to agree she's heavy. The Manual is almost useless. Toner gauges are reading 'low' after first 200 pages...Correct?? I'll let you know.
Summary: I found the startup to be fairly simple; with the exception of the Toner installation. That was a nightmare. It seems there is a 'knack' you must learn to finese the cartridges in place.

The colour copying restrictions are dissappointing after years of using well-performing Ink-jets. ie. cannot colour copy from platen onto photo paper (to get a few extra pics of the kids to send to Gramma you must scan into computer then print from program; losing quality every step of the way)You CAN however colour copy onto plain paper!

The colour prints in a matte finish as opposed to glossy.

I think I'll stick it out though, as I feel with some quality time spent getting to know one another this could turn out to be a great relationship.

Strengths: great printouts, ADF works well, comes with good software, etc. works well for everyting
Weaknesses: setting up the printer is an impossible task without calling them.
Summary: Pretty much every review I read about this raves about it so I won't go into too much detail... for the price you can't beat it. consumables are reasonable. I still haven't figured out the network printer function and I'm in IT... I've set it up according to their instructions and also have read a bunch of reviewers offering suggestions of things to do, and none of them work. I've been too lazy to call them but will soon.

Other than that it's great, though.

Strengths: VERY FAST!!!! Excellent quality. Costs less to use. Doesn't weigh very much for a colour laser printer. Built-in network card.
Weaknesses: No option to set the quality for sending fax as default. Bulky packaging - Need truck or van to transport or take home from store.
Summary: This printer is amazingly fast. Even the scanner is very quick and still excellent quality.

There's not much I can beef about except the fax quality setting can't be set as default so every time you use the fax, you have to set the quality to fine or people complain that the fax is not very good.

If you think this printer is heavy, try handling other colour laser printers and then tell me if you still think this is heavy.

Strengths: Print quality, speed, cost per page, copy and fax quality.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: 2006-03-26 12:42:20 This is a fantastic unit. I have put more than 10000 pages on it with only about $600 in costs. That is 6 cents per page. It is a bit heavy, just like any other quality printer in its class. The print quality is amazing. It handles coated stock with ease, as well as card stock.

Set up was very simple. Out of the box, it took me 30 minutes to setup. The few issues I have had were resolved within minutes via their PrivateLine phone line with my Epson PIN (provided with the printer). It also comes with 1 year on-site service included.

I could not believe some of the negative reviews posted here. Take it from a seasoned user, this is a GREAT UNIT!!!

Strengths: Document feeder seems to function better than most I have used. Excellent customer support with short wait times.
Weaknesses: poor network set up instructions. Rather large, no duplexing and no faxing from the computer that I have found anyway
Summary: Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this product. I have researched this machine thoroughly contacting Epson as well as users prior to purchasing. I was told it was heavy.. I didn't think it was that bad. I did purchase the base with rollers and I'm glad. Network set up is difficult (for me) I am only an average computer guy. Once I called tech support it was going in 3 minutes. I felt the network instruction left a little to be desired. On the other hand Tech Support was quick to answer and solve the problem. Nice guys too. I did have one problem with the fax that required Epson to e-mail me a firm ware update that installed in nothing flat. The problem was minor. When there was no answer and it was not set to redial it did one more time anyway. I was told it was slow to warm up but I find it responds nearly as quickly as my networked HP desk jet. For the price, I am very pleased.

Strengths: Speed, scanning, workflow, color prints, easy setup
Weaknesses: Manual
Summary: We had a Brother color laser printer, a separate fax. We had constant problems with paper feed with the Brother. The Epson solved all our problems and works flawlessly. We use it as a network printer, scanner. It scans a multi-page PDF fast, prints accurate colors on different papers without any problems.

The manual could be written differently, but it has the info. The software installed without a glitch on each of the network computers. Of course, the amount of toner that comes with it is not a full shot, so I recommend buying toner with the printer.

Strengths: Very Fast, Very good color.
Weaknesses: Very Heavy, toner monitor does not seam to be accurate.
Summary: This is a very nice all in one laser printer, everything works as described by Epson, except for the toner monitor, after 60 copies showing 1/3 used. This unit is very fast compared to the inkjet printers that I used prior to this one. The color is as good as any Inkjet Printers, have not had any problems.

1 Star Review AcuLaser CX11NF All-in-One Laser Printer
Strengths: color copies texture
Weaknesses: too heavy, toner cartridge assempbly VERY difficult, no explanation for the error code
Summary: I got this printer last night, because I was impressed with the color copy quality. brought it home, carried it up stairs with my son (it was soooo heavy). Then started the setup process, following the steps in the guide one by one. I first installed the Yellow cartridge, and it was so hard to lock it in, and I had yellow powder all over myself. Then I installed the Magenta. Again, it was so hard to instal it, and had some magenta color powder on myself. Then I insalled the Cyan, and yes, it was hard to instal, and yes, I got a bunch of cyan powder all over myself too. At this point, when I closed the cover, instead of prompting me to put the black cartridge in, the system flashed with 'ERROR: Service Req E527'. I turned the machine off and on, same message came up. I looked ALL OVER the manual, there is no explanation. I tried calling their customer service number, no one was there. I finally did a google search on it, and one person had posted on a website that this error meant the toner carousel is broken. GREAT! I thought! got my son, packaged it up, put it back in the car, and returned it. The entire experience was a nightmare. I bought an hp 2840 instead today, it was easier and less heavy to carry in, man the toner cartridge installation was easy, and the entire setup, including installing all functions including fax on my pc, took around 30 minutes. Plus, HP has a 24 hour customer service taht can be reached over the phone. What was I thinking to get this machine to begin with?!?!?!?

2 Star ReviewCX-11NF, a mixed-bag of initial awe, then hope followed by frustration, and final despair
Strengths: Awesome color—when it's working
Weaknesses: Expense and mess of toner refills, they are not cheep
Summary: Like so many other people, I just had to have a color laser printer and finally settle on the Epson CX-11NF. I did my homework and this machine had all the right credentials, recommendations, and positive comments. The machine did produce excellent quality color prints after a few weeks of messing with the software and hardware.

Indeed, I thought the everything was going to work out just fine until the the printer stopped functioning as a copy/fax machine. The work-around for this was to disconnect the printer USB connection from the computer; only then would it copy/fax. Epson claimed that they were aware of the conflict between their software and Mac OS X but was never able to resolve this issue.

Finally, Epson threw in the towel and offered to buy the printer back, this was after almost ten months. Of interest, I made one final copy of a 180-page book that I had authored, loaded with color graphics, and wouldn't you know it? The printer started malfunctioning to the point of giving up altogether.

Needless to say, I was happy to box up my CX-11NF and ship it back for a refund. Hope you have better luck; but if your still shopping, I ask you: Is having color functionality really all that important and are you willing to go the expense and hassle of replacing four toner cartridges and a photo-conductor? If you are, the CX-11 is probably as good or better than most; but, not recommended for MAC!

Thanks

newSolo
